Chapter Text

Scout opened her eyes groggily. Her head was pounding, and her arm felt sore. With a groan, she sat up, blinking at the stark whiteness of the walls.

Hold up. White?!

Where was she?!

“WHERE THE HELL AM I?!”

Scout winced at the volume of the yelling, and turned her head to see a girl in a light blue blouse and a blue miniskirt stand up. Her eyes were blown wide.

She wasn’t alone… Who were they?

“Ow, my head…”

“I think I’m gonna be sick.”

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!”

“Who are you guys?!”

“WHY CAN’T I REMEMBER ANYTHING BUT MY NAME?!”

Wait. Scout realised she didn’t remember anything either. Why didn’t she remember anything?!

The one who had said ‘Ow, my head,’ suddenly spoke up. “Who are you guys? What’s going on?” She gulped, before nodding. “Should we… Introduce ourselves?”

“Ok…” the one who spoke first said. “I’m Natalia.”

“I’m Wren,” the one who said she was going to be sick offered.

“I’m Fable,” added the one who yelled last.

“I’m Hazel,” the one who screamed breathed, giving a shaky smile.

“I’m Sybil,” mumbled the one who asked who everyone was first.

“I’m Scout.”

The one who had the idea of introducing themselves nodded. “Right, I’m Malin.”

Scout looked around. The walls of the room were white. The ceiling was white. The lights were white. The floor was a white carpet. In the corner were 7 white beds. There was a white door, which was clearly locked. There was another white door, with a white sign which read ‘bathroom’. In the middle of the room was a white table, with seven white chairs. Against a wall was a giant white wardrobe for clothes, and next to it a white cupboard full of polished white cutlery. In the corner was a long white sofa in an L shape, with a white bookcase, and a TV. The TV stand and remotes were white too. The coffee table in front of the sofa was white too. The chest of drawers was white. The kitchen in the other corner was white as well.

EVERYTHING WAS WHITE!

Scout let out a squeak of discomfort, and shuffled over to the nearest person, who happened to be Sybil. Sybil looked like she was uncomfortable herself.

“Ok, does anyone know why the flip we’re here?!” Natalie huffed, flopping on the sofa and giving everyone a death stare. The others sat on the sofa too.

“Uh… Not really no,” Hazel said, fidgeting with the end of a red scarf that was draped around her shoulders. “Hey, where’d I get this scarf from?”

Only then did Scout realise she was in clothes she did not recognise as her own. Omg. Omg. Where were her clothes?!

Before she could open her mouth, the TV switched open.

A shadowy figure sat before them. They coughed, before beginning to speak. “Hello girls. I’m sure you must be wondering what you’re doing here. Well, just know that starting tomorrow, everything you do is for the viewers.”

“Huh?” Fable asked. “That doesn’t even answer anything?!”

“Take a look in the drawers. Goodbye.”

The TV switched off, and Natalie leapt up, running right in front of the screen. “WHAT?!?!” she yelled, before storming up to the drawers. She yanked one open, and Scout watched her pick up a piece of paper.

“It says, ‘Welcome to the first season of… Season 0! Every episode, you’ll have a scenario, and you have to beat it. When the season ends, you can leave. Everything you do will be permanent, like get run over, you’re dead. And remember… Everything you do is for the viewers.’”

Wren gasped, sinking into the sofa. “What the fuck…? Oh no. Oh no oh no oh no. We’re doomed!”

“That’s messed up. Do they even have permission?” Malin sighed.

Sybil glanced at Scout. “We can’t leave…?”

“NOOOOOO! I have so many hopes! Dreams! I have a whole life out there!!” Hazel cried melodramatically, with wild gestures that made Wren have to duck.

Fable began ranting.

“Wait… IT DIDN’T SPECIFY HOW LONG THE SEASON WAS!” Scout yelled.

All went quiet.

“Oh my God,” Wren whispered.
