Watchful Eyes, Listening Ears

Summary:

"Two watchers, a listener, and Scar....how bad could this be?"
"Well-"
"Shut it."
"You do realize if they realize what each other are, this could be bad, right?"
"Yeah. That's the fun part."

Meadow, Grian, Scar, and Jayden are known as THE four. Jayden always seeming to be near somebody at all times to push their buttons, Meadow losing all fucks to give, Grian pushing ACTUAL buttons, and then there's Scar.
But when the tension thickens with it reaching the end of the season, and more people becoming red names, who knows what would be uncovered.

Notes:

Uh, so, this is a Collab OC fanfiction because why not? Who's going to stop us? Actually, don't answer that.

Chapter 1: The Golden Feather That Falls

Chapter Text

Jayden's POV.

I've never been one to be serious. Seriously, ask anyone I know. Even ask Meadow. But now, I can feel the clock starting to tick to the end of the season.

I sat there in front of the mirror in my room that'll soon be empty of the warmth and presence that once filled it. My normally blue wings have given away to the gold underneath, which means I have to dye them before I can even leave my own house because if I left with gold wings, it could be....problematic to say the least.

"This is the fifth time I've had to redye it this season," I sighed quietly as I took the brush to my feathers.

I exited the house, my curly brown hair pulled into a ponytail and my black and gold cloak draped over my shoulders as I took in the bright sun.

I looked over and there was Meadow. Target acquired.

"HEY! MEADOW! WASSUP!" I shout with a grin as I run over, my now blue wings catching the wind.

"Jayden," She nodded in acknowledgement as I fell into step beside her, after a few seconds of silence, she spoke up, "You do realize it's bad to shout that loud now, given that half of the server is on red, right? Meaning that by definition, we're in danger."

"Eh, I know," I say with a shrug, acting as if that didn't get to me.

I was supposed to be the careless one, right?

Yeah.

"So what if I just betrayed you right now and sold you out?" Meadow suddenly stated, turning to look me dead in the eyes.

"You wouldn't," I reply with another shrug, "besides, even if you did, I'd still have a final life, would I not?"

"Touché," She answered as we approached Grian and Scar's base.

I was halfway back to my base, sword out. I needed to fend off mobs, did I not? I continued walking, my wings twitching under my cloak, ready to make me airborne the second it's needed. I never hid my wings. I just hid that they're gold under all of that sky blue dye.

I've acknowledged that the end is near but that doesn't mean I have to stop being the chaos gremlin people know.

So, I entered my house, putting my sword in my inventory, and collapsed onto my bed, trying to not exist for the next few hours as I fell asleep.
