Chapter Text
Dreamer was not a particularly meticulous person, however as the night wound down they’d started a new routine to help settle them into sleep. It had been one they discussed with James and their McKinley latency counsellor before the new semester started at the Academy.
Slowly unwinding their magic as they take deep breaths, they lower their consciousness to sleep, feeding little slivers of magic to gradually shape the dream in as controlled a way as possible.
They wake into the dream to the sound of birds chirping, and as they open their eyes the dream spills out from them like watercolour filling the space with life. They exhale softly as they relax and take in their surroundings. The small grotto is dimly lit with traces of sunlight trickling through the leaves of the canopy; they’re nestled comfortably in a fallen tree trunk with moss cushioning them. Dreamer sighs and stretches out, watching the various types of birds circling above.
A louder cry startles them and they turn to see a bird land on the rock beside them, igniting a spark in their magic.
