Work Text:

Sora and Riku crash landed on a grassy plain. It was so green and the wind ruffled their hair in such a pleasant way. It felt like Summer was kissing them gently.

Sora hurriedly scurried over to Riku. “Hey, are you okay?” Sora asked.

Riku groaned holding his head.

“Aside from the fact we just crashed into the dirt, I’ll be fine.” Riku looked around the area. There was a giant tree and ruins around it. Flying things that looked like butterflies flew around it, glowing a beautiful teal.

The flowers that surrounded the roots looked like little pinwheels that blew in the winds soft breeze.

“What is this place?” Riku asked, Sora didn’t know how to respond. He was just as confused.

They were on Destiny Islands. They were home when suddenly they both began to fall from the sky and appeared here. One would assume Magic was in order, but neither of them had their Keyblades summoned and there was no one else around. No one they knew of anyway.

If this was some kind of magic spell, would it take long for it to wear off and for them to go home?

“Maybe we should find someone who can help us?” Sora said. Riku nodded and they both stood up, dusting themselves off.

Sora and Riku gazed around at their surroundings again. There was a large mountain in the distance. It was covered in snow with a strange floating spire that glowed a brilliant blue.

“I don’t know if we’ll find any help there.” Riku mused. Sora shivered beside him.

“I don’t want to go up there. It looks too cold! I want to stay down here where it’s warm!” Sora replied.

Riku chuckled softly before he stared off in some other direction. His eyes caught sight of a town in the not far distance. He pointing catching Sora’s attention.

“Look! There! We can go there for help!” Riku said. Sora smiled brightly.

“I’ll race you there!” Sora exclaimed excitedly. Riku tried to catch him but he ran off before he could.

“Sora! Sora wait!” Riku started after him immediately. “We don’t know what this place-“

Sora fell back when a strange blob looking creature jumped out of the ground and started attacking Sora. He fell on the ground and it grabbed onto his foot.

Sora summoned his Keyblade and started hitting it back. Riku came over and struck it making it vanish leaving behind a gel-like substance.

“What was that thing?” Riku asked holding out his hand for Sora to take.sora grabbed his hand and he was hoisted up to his feet.

“I don’t know but it looked like one of the Flan Heartless, a-and it felt like slime!” Sora shook his foot of what remained of the thing.

“Right…” Riku shook his head and took Sora’a hand. “Come on then. Let’s get to town and see if they can help us.

Sora and Riku walked a dirt path that led them to a stone bridge. They crashed it seeing a few pigeons flutter about. They came up to the gate and were stopped by two guards.

“Who are you? State your business.” One said.

“I’m Sora, and this is my friend Riku.” Sora started.

“We’re a little lost and are looking for some directions. We’re hoping this town would help. We’re not from around here.” Riku added.

“Oh, travelers.” Said the other.

“Yeah… you could say that.” Sora rubbed the back of his head.

“Right. If you head inside town and find the Knights of Favonious, ask for Master Jean. She might be able to help you get where you want to go. Welcome to Mondstadt.” Said one of the guards.

“Thank you!” Sora waved to them.

Once they stepped inside, it was clear this place was lively. There were flower stands selling local flora, there was a blacksmith and an adventurer’s guild. Further in was a trinket shop, alchemy table, food market, and small stall serving food with an oven beside it. There was a fountain as the centerpiece. The town was quite beautiful.

Sora was giddy to explore but Riku held firm to his hand.

“We don’t know where we are and if we could be sent back at any time.” Riku explained. “I want you to stay beside me until we’ve covered all our bases and this is over, okay?”

Sora drooped. “Okay…”

Riku pressed a kiss to Sora’s head. “Thank you.”

Riku waved down a person who was walking past them and asked where to find the knights as they were instructed to find. She pointed them to this castle like building that stood beside a church building. Sora and Riku made their way over climbing the steps and reaching the door.

“Hello.” They greeted the man at the door. “Is this where we’d find Master Hean? We need her help.”

“Why yes, she’s inside her office at this moment with Lisa.” He replied.

“Thank you!” Sora chirped happily.

“Yes, thank you very much.” Riku smiled at him before they both traveled inside.

Riku and Sora asked for directions to Jean’s office and once they had proper directions, Riku knocked on the door.

“Come in.” They heard someone call.

Riku opened the door and the two entered the room to greet two women. There was a blonde woman sitting at the desk by the window in the room and a woman in a purple witch hat by the bookshelves. Riku could only assume the one at the desk was Jean and the other was Lisa.

“Hello, we’re not from around here and we were hoping you could help us get home.” Riku started.

Jean put down her feather quill. “Oh, where do you live exactly? Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Natlan?”

“Uh… somewhere farther?” Sora tried. Jean blinked for a long moment. Lisa chuckled softly.

“I think they mean they’re like our dear friend the Traveler.” She supplied.

“Oh, you two are from another world.” Jean’s shoulders relaxed.

“So much for World Order.” Sora muttered under his breath.

“If you can find the Traveler, I’m sure you’ll be home in no time.” Jean explained. “Traveling with them often seems to fix many people’s problems. Perhaps they can fix yours.”

Riku rubbed the back of his head. “Yeah… perhaps.”

“The Traveler was around Fontaine last I heard. She pointed somewhere on her map. It was an island surrounded but smaller islands and tons of water. “I don’t know if they’re still there now.”

“You two cuties don’t have vision’s either, but I can sense a powerful magic presence from you.” Lisa chimed in. “You be just fine while you go searching for the Traveler!”

They both bowed deeply as thanks and left.

“That was weird.” Sora said as soon at the door was closed.

“Right…” Riku ran a hand down his face. “I guess wee need to head to Fontaine?”

“It’s far away. Will we get there in time to find this Traveler person?” Sora asked.

“I’m not sure, but if they have a way for us to get home it’s worth a try.” Riku said.

Sora and Riku started off on their journey and were partially down the road when they head a harp being played nearby. They stopped to listen and that when it stopped. They looked to each other before they gears a playful giggle. Was it another one of those monsters?

“I was hoping I’d run into you!” Someone said from nearly. A boy popped out of nowhere startling the two boys. “Hehe~ Sorry! I didn’t mean to scare you! I’m Venti the bard!”

“I’m Sora and this is my best friend Riku.” Sora greeted Venti before Riku could stop him.

“It a pleasure to meet you both! I heard you were looking for the Traveler.” Venti said.

“Yes, what of it?” Riku stated dryly.

“Riku!” Sora chided. Venti only laughed.

“He’s cautious.” Venti hummed. “That’s smart being in a new world. But I know how to get you to the traveler without you having to travel all over Teyvat to do it.”

“Got it.” Riku nodded suspiciously. “And what could that be exactly?”

“Using the winds of course!” Venti beamed as a large gust of wind swept over them. “This gale could take you right to where you want to go!”

“‘Could?!’” Riku yelped.

“Come on Riku! It’ll be fun!” Sora urged.

“Yeah! It’ll be so much fun riding the winds!” Venti added.

Riku could say no to a stranger, but to Sora’s pretty blue eyes? He would rather stab himself with his own Keyblade before be disagreed with him.

“Fine, but only because you convinced me.” Riku rolled his eyes as Sora cheered. Venti summoned another gust of wind.

“Tell the Traveler I said hello when you see him!” Venti waved.

“Wait! Who are you?!” Riku called.

“Just your friendly bard who needs some more dandelion wine!” Venti cheered at the winds swept them up into the air.

Luckily, Sora and Riku still had their gliding magic. They road the winds over the sheer cold mountains, through the rocky bay, across the green forestry, and over the desert. They could see the waters of Fontaine now.

“Who do you think that was?” Sora asked Riku as he held his hand as they glided along.

“I’m not sure. Maybe it was some kind of god?” Riku tilted his head slightly.

“He did cast this wind. It would be crazy if he wasn’t.”

Just what world did they stumble upon exactly?
