Work Text:
It was a chilly December morning—well, not just any morning. It was… you guessed it, Christmas Eve! Ochako was excited for Christmas, and she was even more excited to spend it with her girlfriend!
The only problem is that her girlfriend happened to be a part of the League of Villains…
And she was in the hero course at UA High. They lived two completely different lives… them being together would ruin everything for both of them.
So they kept it a secret, but you can’t hide from the truth forever. At some point, you have to face it and accept whatever the consequences are.
Once she heard they were hosting a Christmas party, she knew today would be that day.
Ochako grabbed her phone and walked outside of class.
She dialed Toga’s number. Her fingers flew across the screen as if she had typed that very number a thousand times… well, it wouldn’t be surprising if that was the case.
Toga picked up on the first ring.
“Hey, cutie,” Toga said cheerfully.
“Hi, uh, would you like to come to a Christmas party with me?” Ochako asked nervously.
“Yes!! I’d love to!” Toga said immediately. She sounded so excited it made Ochako’s chest feel warm.
“Yay! Wear something red so we can match, ok?” Ochako said, looking at the door to the class, hearing people talking inside.
“Got it! Where is it?” Toga asked, her voice soft but still excited.
“The dorms…” Ochako said carefully.
“Ochako… I can’t go to UA, you know that,” Toga said, her excited tone fading.
“Look, I know you’re scared, but if anyone tries anything, they’ll have to go through me…” Ochako said, her voice calm and slightly calculated.
“Alright then, I trust you. But can I bring Dabi as, like, a bodyguard to stand outside?” Toga asked, her excited tone returning.
“Uhh, sure, why not?” Ochako said, shrugging slightly.
“Ok then, I’ll see you later, cutie!! Byeee,” Toga said sweetly.
“Byeee,” Ochako said, putting the phone down and walking back into class, though most people had already left.
As she entered the room, Deku walked up to her.
“Hey, Uraraka, would you like to go to the party with me?” he asked nervously.
“Sorry, Deku, I’m uh… I’m going with someone else,” Ochako mumbled.
“Oh, that’s ok,” Deku said, his voice tight. “Uh, oh, look, it’s Todoroki. I should go, um, make him less depressed. Ok, bye—” He walked away fast.
Ochako was confused, but she paid no mind to him.

Toga was looking through her closet for something to wear.
“Hmm, red… I wonder if blood-stained things count,” she muttered to herself.
“Hey, Toga, what are you doing? If you’re hiding a body, that’s a terrible place to do so,” Dabi said, half jokingly.
“I’m not hiding a body, dumbass. I’m looking for an outfit.” Toga pulled a red skirt out, frowning at it slightly, then placing it on her bed.
“Outfit? Outfit for what?” Dabi asked, sounding genuinely confused. “Don’t tell me you’re going out with someone on Christmas,” he said, frowning slightly.
“Yea, I’m going to a party, but I’m taking you with me!” Toga said proudly, holding up a red dress.
“Wait, why am I going with you… Toga, where is this party?” Dabi asked skeptically, his frown lifting slightly, though.
“Uh, the UA dorms…” Toga said sheepishly.
“TOGA!” Dabi yelled. “You cannot go to the UA dorms on Christmas! You will get arrested, or worse—you’ll get killed!”
“It’s fineeee, Dabi, I have a great plan!” Toga said, now digging through her dressing table for accessories.
“And what might that be, hm?” he asked unenthusiastically.
“You’re gonna stand outside and keep watch!” Toga said proudly.
“No! Toga, come on, what’s so important about this party anyway?” Dabi asked, picking up one of the necklaces Toga had put on her bed.
“My girlfriend is gonna be there! Well, she actually invited me in the first place, so it’s not like I’m breaking in or anything,” Toga said, clearly trying to justify her actions—and honestly, it was kind of working.
Dabi sighed. “Fine, but if you get taken hostage, I’m not coming to get you till New Year,” Dabi said, taking some of Toga’s jewellery.
“Yea, yea—HEY, give that back, you moron!” Toga said, trying to grab what Dabi had taken, but he just held it above his head, using Toga’s height against her.
“Oh, also, if I go, you gotta let me have these as… compensation?” Dabi smirked.
“You can have one,” Toga said, frowning.
“Three,” Dabi said, dropping most of the jewellery.
“One. That’s all. You have one of my favourite necklaces there,” Toga said, her frown turning into a pout.
“Ok, two, so it’s in the middle,” Dabi said, giving her her necklace back and keeping two other pieces in his hand.
“Fine. Now go get ready,” Toga said, pushing him out of the room.
⸻
Snow covered the outside of the dorms… it looked dreamy and kind of cozy in a way.
Toga walked inside, scanning the room for Ochako, clutching a small gift she had been working on for… well, almost the whole year.
Their eyes locked. Toga ran over and embraced Ochako.
“Hi…” Toga whispered, smiling slightly.
“Hey… you made it,” Ochako said, her voice filled with joy.
“Yea, I did… I left the burnt chicken nugget at the door, so I think I’ll be ok,” Toga said, pulling away from the hug to admire Ochako’s face.
“Perfect! Well, I have something for you.” Ochako picked up a gift from the small table next to her and handed it to Toga.
“It’s not much, but I really do hope you like it,” she mumbled, her face flushing slightly.
“Whatever it is, I already know it’s perfect… just like you,” Toga said, handing Ochako the gift she had brought.
They stared at each other for a moment…
“I’m so glad you came,” Ochako said, kissing Toga’s forehead.
“Me too…”
