   Summary

   They wrought a barrier to keep the presence they feared contained, and threw themselves before its thorns in hopes of strengthening its protection, unaware that their offering brought it more than they realized. But when its prisoner perishes, the now meaningless barrier is left with with a choice - die on the dirt it was drawn from, or take on the form of all that it consumed and teach its motionless roots to seek.
