Work Text:

Family Leave

Buck had been back to work for a little less than a month after being injured by his sister’s boyfriend and father of her child and out from his hitting him and having to go to the hospital straight into surgery from that. Now he was finding out that both his abuser and his sister were returning from wherever they had disappeared too with everyone connected to them telling him it was all his fault that he was hit, and he had to get Chimney to forgive him instead of the other way around. As such, he had put in for a transfer to another station which he was trying to explain to his captain to no avail as all he was getting was lectured by the man on getting Chim and his sister to forgive him for his action and he couldn’t do that if he slunk away like the coward he was.
The last straw was everyone in the station’s loft nodding in agreement, even Eddie who was nominally supposed to have his back, but he hadn’t since he had taken up with the woman who was just like Eddie’s mother and Chris’ abusive grandmother. Well, they always did say that certain men had an Oedipus Complex so that made sense where Eddie was concerned, since he never did cut the apron strings from the woman and kept her abusive self, tied to him and his son.

Buck stood there listen and watching everyone nodding at the verbal abuse spewing out about wrongful forgiveness as he grabbed his tablet from his thigh pocket and opened the program to the letter on it to his old Navy BUDs family member and father, Gail Alonzo who was Department Chief of LAFD and sent off the resignation letter directly to him. Then closed that out and repocketed the tablet. Pulling the same letter from another pocket and putting that within reach of his captain to read and see that the resignation was to be effective immediately.
Ignored everyone bawling him out for not thinking the way they all demanded of him and turned heal to leave just as the tones sounded for the captain’s attention declaring for everyone to hear that Bobby was wanted at headquarters to answer questions from the department NOW.

Until then the station was on stand down until a relief could be found to replace Bobby and Buckly. Buck just looked at the shocked looks on everyone’s faces but especially Bobby’s before reminding him of the real outcome from the lawsuit not long ago. That Bobby was the one to be sued not the station and that in order to return as the captain he was put on probation for FIVE YEARS. It seemed that his recent actions in approving violence to fellow firefighter under his command by his lieutenant wasn’t looked at nicely by his Chief’s and now he would have to face the music for allowing and condoning abusive actions on those around him without taking action against it.

Bobby was fired and arrested, tried, and convicted as an accessory to his lieutenant’s violence and sent to prison to spend his time under actual therapy he was forced to attend as part of his sentence.

Chimney was also arrested the moment his vehicle was found to be in LA and convicted of attempted murder for his actions against his girlfriend’s brother.
The rest of the 118 was dispersed to other stations to force the toxic cliques away from each other never to meet together again.

Buck moved back to Colorado after his time on the stand for both trials and back to working in the mountains he had missed on the same SAR team he had worked with long ago.
Maddie disappeared into the either, after dropping her daughter onto her boyfriend’s family, the Lee’s, for a day of shopping. Never to be heard from again.
