My father's dead.

Summary:

Spy attempts to comfort Scout about the absence of his fatherl

Work Text:

Scout sat on the bench in respawn with his head in his hands, sniffling softly every now and then. Suddenly feeling a presence besides him he lifted his head just a bit to see Spy eyeing him.
“Go somewhere else.” Scout mumbled rubbing his face and resting his nose on his forearms.
Spy of course, did not go anywhere instead choosing to slide beside Scout and put his arm around the boy.
“It's hard to ignore your crying-”
‘I'm not crying!” Scout pushed spy away (which spy respawned with wiping away the feeling of Scout touching him), “mind your own spy.”
Spy sat silently before sighing and rubbing the boys back and Scout finally gave in
“I know you probably had a father or somethin' but I just can't believe my dad just up and left me and ma-” he glanced the other way “it's not fair, I bet the bastard is living it up on some vacation in Australia or something.” Scout rolled his eyes before putting his head back in his arms.
Spy looked at Scout then at the door then back at Scout
“You know I had a son once-” before he could finish speaking Scout shot up and stared wildly at spy
“YOU?! Who would want to have kids with you?! You're a prize (no offense or anythin’).” Scout laughed and pointed at spy before quitting down and sitting again “what uh what was he like?”.
Spy rolled his eyes “well he had soft brown hair, and beautiful blue eyes..” he thought for a second “he loved his mother very much and he was a gift to the world.” Scout stared at spy “so what happened to him?”
Spy paused, "He's dead.”

They both sat silently together for a bit, maybe they had more in common than they thought and maybe they were both lying to each other but for a second they bonded over a lost relationship.
