   Summary

   It’s a more difficult task than it seems to keep what is essentially an artificial deity under human control. As the others die around him, Hajime gradually seems to subsume their talents - and, unexpectedly, differently than the original Izuru, something of the passions behind them.

   Divergent from the CH1 investigation onwards [i.e., preserves the Trial 1 deaths for Chapter 1]. NOT a rewrite and instead more like a collection of interactions between named characters, intended to "sketch" the concept shown above. Any mystery elements to this fic are extremely ancillary and only appear for characterization reasons, since I'm terrible at case design. CH1 does not include overt romance, I just always mark slash when I intend it for the complete work.
