Summary
Natasha Romanoff is a spy, an Avenger. She is also falling in love with Steve Rogers.
Unfortunately, like most things in their lives, the timing is pretty bad.
Steve nods and tries to leave again, but she throws herself across the doorway. He looks mildly irritated now, “Natasha!”
She reaches up to cup his face in her hands, “Sorry. Just didn’t want you to go without a kiss goodbye.”
Steve’s face doesn’t quite soften, and Natasha doesn’t blame him for not wanting to let his guard down entirely right now, but he does set his suitcase down and draw her in by her hips, “What are you going to tell the others?”
Natasha puts her arms around his neck, “That you’re thinking it over, but you have a personal emergency.”
Steve kisses her then. It feels like a goodbye, like they won’t be seeing each other in three days. He stamps one last kiss on her cheek, “Take care of yourself, Romanoff.”
She nods, “I always do.” Finally, she steps aside and lets him exit his room. “Steve?”
He turns back. She waves a little and he nods and walks out with his suitcase.
