01:17 AM
Katsuki can’t help but squirm again as Izuku tries to place the thermometer on his tongue. He’s rolling and kicking all over the place, but to no avail.
“It’s okay honeybuns..”
Izuku starts, sickeningly sweet, even if Katsuki weren’t ill, he wanted to gag just at hearing that.
“Just gotta check your temperature, like Aizawa said.”
Bakugou groans as Izuku attempts to open his mouth like he’s some kind of dog. He doesn’t need a thermometer, he’s not /that/ sick. However, Izuku really does like to make a point of the fact that he thinks otherwise.
As Izuku attempts to place the thermometer on his tongue, Katsuki seriously has to fight the urge to bite down on his little fingers. “Done yet?” he asks, slurred from the way his mouth is held open.
“Yup.” Izuku pulls the thermometer from his mouth and Katsuki sighs in relief as he finally relaxes his jaw.
Izuku’s brow furrows once he takes a look at the reading. “35.5..?” he stares in disbelief. “Kats.. are you pretending to be sick just so I’ll take care of you?”
He looks him dead in the eye, but he still retains his kind, warm smile, which shouldn’t be as threatening as it feels.
Katsuki couldn’t help but slip further.
“N-no! No I- sowy.. I sowy.. I no trick dada.. pwomise..”
His eyes are glossed over, and the way he’s looking up at Izuku feels almost like he’s been obligated to kneel before him.
In an attempt to stop the waterworks, Izuku gently pulls Katsuki into his lap from where he’d been laying on the bed. His back lies flat against the pillows as he feels the press of Katsuki’s tummy against his and the soft weight of Katsuki’s head on his chest.
“You’re not in trouble buddy. You’re not lying. I gotcha..” he rubs a warm and soft hand over his back, overbearingly sweet.
Katsuki /should/ apologise, but he won’t. Doesn’t need to anymore.
Both his and Bakugo’s eyelids droop as they drift off to a peaceful slumber.
———
Izuku’s nap is extremely short-lived. He can feel himself stirring the moment Bakugou’s head lifts slightly. Katsuki usually doesn’t wake early from a nap unless something is wrong. He ruffles his spiky hair and pushes it back to feel his forehead.
“What’s wrong baby? Are you feeling hot? Do you have a fever?”
He makes sure to keep his diction clear and his voice at a reasonable volume so that even a baby Kacchan could understand. Bakugou just stares up at him the best he can with his chin still on his chest. Izuku can hear small sounds that he’s not quite sure how to describe. When he looks back up at Katsuki’s little face he spots the spittle from out his mouth; wet saliva drips onto his nightshirt.
“Ough.. baby are you spitting on me? That’s yucky..”
He tries his best to put on a stern face but ultimately struggles. Katsuki is uncharacteristically quiet and hasn’t so much as uttered or even mumbled a response. Izuku does his best to lead him in the right direction.
“Can you apologise please baby? It’s not nice to spit on people.”
As Katsuki looks him in the face again, his eyes are sparkly with tears.
Izuku can feel Katsuki’s heart thumping against his own, fast and uncontrolled.
“I-im sorr-ry!! I’m so-rry!”
He tries in-between sobs, as he struggles to fit his mouth around the words - despite the fact he’s doesn’t really understand what he’s apologising for.
And just a few moments after, he’s compelled to hold Izuku tight for dear life in preparation for what comes next.
———
Izuku swears he sees his life flash before his eyes as he feels Katsuki first wrap his arms around him tighter than ever, then let his head land heavily on his torso.
“Careful buddy that hur-“
Before either of them can process what’s happening, a line of green fluid spills from Katsuki’s mouth and down Izuku’s shirt. Just the sight of it makes Katsuki want to wail. He’s in so much trouble.
As he hurls again, the tears in his eyes spill out and land on Izuku along with another messy stream of vomit.
Izuku now sits him up and holds his head up and over his shoulder, his biggest concern being that if Katsuki had remained laid down he’d have choked on his own puke.
“That’s it,” he reassures, uncaring of the sick down his back. He can change his shirt later. That’s the least of his worries right now.
———
“Dada!”
Katsuki scream-sobs as he grips Izuku tighter. He squirms as he feels the hand on his back.
“It’s okay. You’re just feeling yucky..”
Izuku props him up against the bed and is quick to grab some baby wipes.
“All clean Kacchan..”
He steps back from Katsuki’s now clean mouth to admire his handiwork - and his baby’s cute little face.
His gaze deepens as Katsuki squirms then opens his mouth.
“No..”
Izuku blinks at him a few times before answering.
“No? You’re not clean?” he places a gentle hand on his shoulder, and looks straight at him with soft eyes.
Bakugou’s shuffling his feet and averting his gaze.
‘Accident’ is the only word that Izuku makes out from the string of mumbles he’s given.
———
Katsuki sighs in relief once he’s wrapped in a blue fluffy towel after his long bath. Izuku was being especially annoying the whole time. He kept telling Katsuki to not suck on his thumb, not to squirm, not to splash him, not to get out yet. It was all so draining. Stupid rules.
Izuku dresses him in his oversized skull shirt and helps him balance on his shoulders as he steps into a pull-up.
“There we go bunny..”
He grunts as he pulls Katsuki from the floor by his armpits, legs dangling and kicking just a little.
Katsuki’s fists feel heavy against his back, containing all the strength of a fussy baby in serious need of a nap.
Katsuki whines, which draws Izuku’s attention to the fact that he’ll need his pacifier in order to sleep through the night.
He grabs the closest pacifier he can find. It’s black with a simplified green bunny decal in the centre. It says ‘BABY BUNNY’ along the handle and Izuku can’t help but smirk. It’s cute.
Katsuki’s eyes widen and immediately he snatches the paci straight from Izuku’s hand and sticks it in his mouth.
“Baby.. we don’t snatch..”
Katsuki whines in his face again, and the paci in his mouth slurs his words.
“I sowwy..”
Izuku smiles in response, making sure Katsuki can see his face.
Katsuki’s been getting better at those apologies lately; both big and small.
“Well done baby..”
Izuku praises, setting him down on the bed.
———
“Do you need a stuffie to sleep with?”
Izuku coos, wrapping Katsuki in an All-Might themed blanket.
Katsuki spits out his paci:
“No..” he groans “want Zuku..”
Izuku covers his face with a hand in order to hide the growing flush on his cheeks.
“Okay baby.. let dada get comfortable okay?”
He responds, setting himself down beside Katsuki. Immediately, he feels Katsuki’s arms around him as if he’s just a big teddy bear.
All of a sudden, he feels Katsuki jolt behind him again; he rolls over to face him.
“Hey bubby..”
he gently tucks spiky strands of hair behind red ears. “Are you going to be sick again?” Despite Izuku’s ability to keep his composure, Katsuki knows he’s making him worry, but this time, that’s far from the real issue.
Katsuki says nothing. Just grips Deku again, hiding his face in his warm chest. His feet kick out as his legs wriggle, and Izuku watches in faux curiosity.
“Watcha doin’ there Kacchan?” he teases, and Katsuki flushes red, pouting at him.
He wriggles once again, but it’s less controlled and he nearly ends up on the floor, Izuku holding him up just above it.
“Careful baby.” he eyes the ground below Katsuki.
“If you hit your head, it’ll really hurt.”
He brings Bakugou’s ear closer to his mouth, trying to gauge his reaction for what he’s about to say next.
“Next time you need the potty, just tell me okay?” he faces Katsuki with bright eyes and a big wide smile. Katsuki flushes bright ruby red once again, now refusing to look Izuku in the eye.
———
Izuku assists Katsuki in pulling down his sleep shorts and pull-up to set him on the toilet. He promptly turns around to give his baby the most privacy that he can.
“All done?”
he calls out, covering his eyes with his hands.
“Wiping..” Katsuki responds in a toddler-like register. Eugh. Izuku grimaces. Then his brow furrows.
“Baby, I only heard you peeing.” Izuku internally cringes at hearing himself say that out loud.
“Everything okay back there?”
When he doesn’t receive an answer, he tries again.
“I’m gonna come help you, okay?”
———
Izuku grimaces again as he looks over the toilet bowl. Most of what came out of Katsuki was liquid. How sick was he?
“I’m gonna grab you a new pull-up alright?”
Katsuki whines, tugging at the bottom of Izuku’s shirt.
“Is something wrong?”
“Ickyy..”
Izuku’s eyes widen as he reaches toward the cabinet.
“Just gonna grab you some baby wipes, okay sweetie?”
———
Katsuki can’t help rolling around once he’s set on an old towel. It’s scratchy against his skin and makes him feel funny in all the wrong ways. Tears well in his eyes, but Izuku wipes them away with a steady hand.
“I’ll be as quick as I can.. okay?”
Katsuki nods, lip still trembling.
The baby wipes are cold as they hit his skin. Those same tears from earlier brim in his eyes once again.
Izuku makes a mental note to get a warmer next time.
———
Katsuki smiles as he feels Izuku pull up the front of his diaper and secure it around him.
“All wrapped up, okay bunny?”
The way he says it makes Katsuki’s stomach do little flips. It’s a strange but welcome feeling; more welcome than he’d like to admit.
“Is warm..” Katsuki adds, reaching out to touch Izuku’s face.
“Yeah?” Izuku gently bounces him, an arm already wrapping around his back.
———
Izuku smirks at the sleepy Katsuki laying on his shoulder. He sets him down again, ignoring the patch of drool on him and the string of saliva between them.
After wrapping Katsuki in his All-Might blanket, Izuku couldn’t help but place a soft kiss on his forehead.
“Goodnight bunny..”
