Work Text:
“We’ll see each other sooner than you think, Rick, I’m coming to the Lampas Branch today.” And on that bombshell, Cassian, Villain Boss of the Gadam Vilzone, hung up on his two co-conspirators, Rick and Raul, high ranked psykers and former students.
The two friends looked at each other in panic and started to talk at the same time.
“How come we didn’t know? Why did Jijeon Ham didn’t tell us? That should be something that should be broadcast everywhere. Where are the security measures.”
“Unless she doesn’t know?”
“Then it’s not an official visit?” “Was that a subtle warning from Master to evacuate because he is going to destroy the building? But why?”
Raul pretended to be calm, but he was nothing but. The growth of their transmigrated master was beyond belief; he was already stronger than he was before he had been killed. If he was coming for some sort of retribution or revenge, all the psykers in the area were all fucked.
He wasn’t worried for himself or his best friend; they knew they were going to be spare, but that wasn’t the point. What the hell was Cassian thinking, exposing himself like that!!! There was always a bullet that could go astray and hurt him. It wasn’t as if they weren’t others S Level in the building right now. He couldn’t reasonably take them all on?
And which side were they supposed to pick? It was beyond his abilities to realistically pretend to fight Cassian... it wouldn’t fool his superiors anyways. Especially since he knew he was obviously outmatched. They also didn’t have their blue and black masks... They couldn’t side with him without blowing their cover! Was that the goal? Why couldn’t he tell them his plan for once?
He gave up, and hunched over, head in his palms in despair.
Rick, always more positive and upbeat, lightly tapped his back in comfort while he proudly declared: “Don’t be so dramatic; we knew it was coming eventually that we’ll have to choose. Maybe not this soon, but at least the secrecy is going to be over. There is no way I am not going to stand next to Master no matter his form.”
“Not that loud, Rick!!! Someone might hear!”
And in pitiful hope, he continued. “Can we simply call in sick right about now?”
But Rick wasn’t deterred and tried to convince his friend. “I think we should stay. We don’t know exactly when Master is going to make his grand entrance. And he doesn’t care about throwing people aside if they are in his way. There are some hotheads that are going to try to fight him. Shouldn’t we knock them before he does?”
“Hmm. You’re right. That would totally be something he would do. We’ll stay and play it by the ear.”
They nodded to each other, in agreement; their loyalty and bond were unquestionable, but they knew Cassian was also very impulsive sometimes.
“But truly, Rick, you’re ready to switch sides publicly if it comes to that?”
“Yes. I owe him too much to be otherwise, wherever I can be most useful to Master; that’s where I am going to be. Don’t you feel the same Raul?”
Long sigh in resignation, “Yes.....”
“So, should we tell people we got some secret insights that there is going to be a villain attack? Daewung Lee won’t be suspicious if we start with him.”
“We don’t even know if it’s an invasion or not. Warn them of what? What if for some reason it’s a secret meeting between Gwangho Ma and him. We’ll get in trouble from both Master and Lampas if we expose it.”
Suddenly, while they were still figuring out what to do, there was a polite knock on their door. Rick scrambled to open it, fearing that it was already too late.
On the other side stood Uchan Kim, broadly smiling at them while he pointed to the pink-haired lady next to him. “Hi guys, she wanted to visit where I work so this is my sister: Naeun Kim, be nice, she’s the best.” and much less enthusiastically as he moved aside to reveal a normal looking dark-haired young man “That guy insisted to tag along with us... This is Gangu Gwon...”
“Honored to meet you.” And their master bowed to them, winking in malicious glee...
