Summary:

When a gossip blogger starts tracking Captain America’s suspiciously frequent appearances with a “mystery woman,” the internet does what it does best: speculate wildly, connect the wrong dots, and accidentally document the slow-motion reveal of Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter getting back together.

Told entirely through blog posts, comments, and anonymous tips, this is the story of how the Avengers’ worst-kept secret became the internet’s favorite meltdown.

This chapter kicks off a short series requested by @lilydreaming13 on Tumblr! It’s set in a universe where Peggy Carter is in the modern-day world with Steve and a Buzzfeed-style blogger is posting gossip about them online. Okay listen. I wasn’t going to post today because I promised myself “no superhero stalking on Wednesdays,” but fate had other plans.

 

Steve Rogers, yes that Steve Rogers, was spotted in a tiny Brooklyn café last night with a woman who is very much not on the Avengers payroll. They were sitting in the corner booth like a 1950s romance movie and he looked… happy?? Like genuinely smiling, leaning in close, laughing-oh-my-gosh happy.

 

My source (barista by day, chaotic neutral by night) swears they were “either dating or plotting a coup.” Honestly, with the Avengers, both are plausible.

 

Has America’s Golden Boy been captured?
