Notes:

Hey there! Sorry for posting late, I was stuck at work.

This chapter ties back to the chapter “You’re No Fun”. Though you don‘t have to read it do understand it.

Have fun!

Work Text:

“I knew I should’ve called you earlier.”, Angela grinned, looking up at Nolan, who stood on a ladder, fastening the final part of the very last fairy light right above their roof.

“But seriously, why do you have so many spare fairy lights?”

“Do not ask and do not tell Bailey. I was shocked myself.” John admitted, making his way down the ladder, handing Angela the wire. “You do the honors.”

“Ain’t no need to tell me twice.”, Angela deadpanned, connecting the wire to the power outlet.

She would be lying if she claimed that she wasn’t partially blinded for a second. But the moment her eyes adjusted, her inner child single-handedly became whole again.

A long column of little colorful bulbs waved their way all the way from the outline of their roof through the railing of the patio, framing the door in the perfect manner. This was beautiful-

“Angela Lopez.”

Angela had been so focused on the masterpiece before her, that she had neither noticed a car pulling up, nor her husband, standing right behind her.

“Before you say anything.”, Angela already started before she was even turned around. “I didn’t spend a single penny on this. All of the lights are second hand and borrowed.”, she continued and from the way John was nodding excessively, Wesley was likely trying to find out if that was true.

Slowly, she turned around to find her husband looking up at the house, seeming almost… mesmerized. Definitely not what she had expected.

“You’re not mad?”

“Well it’s… uh… pretty.”, Wesley admitted, his eyes glistening in a way Angela hadn’t seen in a while. Warmth spread in her chest at the sight.

“So…”

“So?”, he asked, reluctantly pulling his eyes away from the lights.

“Admit it.”

“What?”

“I’m the best wife you could’ve asked for.”, Angela grinned and after just a moment, Wesley laughed, wrapping her in a tight embrace.

“I don’t need fairy lights to convince me.”
