A celebration at the Inn

The house finally fixed, the rooms ready for guests as was the small bar on the first level to service those weary travellers finding their path into the Pirate Cave Inn as it was now called as.

Ed and Stede’s home and business.

But this time if the year wasn’t about the business, rather having friends, family really over to celebrate the couple’s first Saturnalia together in their new home.

And so, the festive decor was setup and the whole house sparkling with seasonal cheer despite the weather outside being warm and sunny. It always was that on the paradise of an island. Which neither of them complained about, not usually they did not.

Alas, it would have been nice to have some snow for this holiday season.

Right now though, it was time to put the celebratory meal in the oven cook and pull out the mulled wine, as the ship of the rest of their family was approaching the small harbour, arriving soon enough.

And so, in no time, Ed and Stede, the great hosts they totally were, both now standing on the porch in festive attire waving to the arrivals as a greeting.

“Welcome one and all!” Ed boomed over the ruckus their family members caused as their usual.

“Step right in, my dears.” Stede welcomed them all with a wide smile.

The whole crew was there, everyone and their pet getting inside the house. The lot of them bearing gifts from far away lands for the their host couple. After all, this was both a family affair and a one year anniversary for Ed and Stede as well.

Once inside, everyone was in awe of the fine setup. Never mind sniffing the air as the odours of plethora of food filled the space without spare.

“This is very lovely you too, didn’t think you could make it this good in such a short time.”

The compliments never ending, but the two had done good, that much was true.

“Well, we’ve worked our derrières off for sure all year long, but some of the locals chipped in as well. Thankfully!” Ed and Stede never the ones to take full credit of it all.

Just then, the new friends, those neighbours invited entered the home as well, greeted by them all.

“Please, come in dear friends!”

The introductions done, it was time for the feast to begin.

“Now let’s get to the table of plenty, mostly our own crops, but of course.” Ed was pretty proud.

As indeed the small farmland of the homestead had been fruitful, carrying crops of varied for the couple and their guests.

And so, they all sat at the table long, having their meal together after having been gone long.

Afterwards gifts were exchanged, the singing with eggnog soon followed with a few tones to dance with as well.

“I really love this woollen sweater. Alas the weather…”

Ed knew it was too warm still, but he loved the present made by his love, Stede, just for him.

“I’m glad you do, my dear… Sorry it’s so warm all over the year.”

Just then someone looked out, the night already fallen over the homestead and then there was the loud shout!

“Look everyone! It’s… snowing!”

They all rushed to the window, watching the scenery outside in awe.

After all… it had been Stede’s wish for one and all.

“A Saturnalia Miracle this is, just like I had wished!”

The playful cheer and mood caught by all, the lot of them getting outside, managing to make a few snowballs!

A perfect first Saturnalia together, nothing short of a miracle.
