debts in blood

Summary:

Jade, knowing all too well what the tone of her co-workers voice meant, sat and poured herself a small glass of wine. ”That assignment was closed over 4 months ago, my dear. Care to explain why you’re only now so keen on…recalling those events?” Jade’s voice maintained its sultry facade in casualty.

Obsidian walked with a seductive, waltzing confidence to the Lady’s desk. Her long crimson red hair trailing behind her, despite being up. Jade wants to play? Two can dance in duplicity.

She sat herself on Jade’s desk, right in front of her. The crimson haired woman caught the snake’s wrist as she was about to take another sip from her glass.

“You ask why I wish to…’recall those events,’ Jadie~?”

Obsidian leaned, her lips now meeting the others ear.

“You seem to have forgotten…I am owed, Eve.”

(or; in which Obsidian claims her long-overdues from a certain slithering Lady that has slipped from her grasp for far too long…)

Notes:

hi~!
so…originally i was planning to have another tsh fic drop before this but unfortunately its facing a lil rewrite and editing before i can feel confident in posting it 💞
that being said, obsijade/jadesidian is a ship i’ve been interested in since TSH myriad trailer, so finally writing something for them is ver exciting and fun~!

i hope and pray this delivers in terms of the borderline spice i attempted, as unfortunately—my skills in intimacy more based on…lust? physical attraction? is definitely out of practice…but nonetheless i’ve had fun with this one, atop exploring the potential for Obsidian 🦇{and this ships potential dynamic}
i hope it’s enjoyable, and I managed to at least give the people something readable🤍

{warnings: mentions of blood, a bit ‘steamy’ [but doesn’t go beyond anything], some v minor mental degradations—but also not extreme.} (overall very tame, i feel.)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

P46 meetings were always such a drag.

Obsidian rarely cared to truly memorize whatever was being discussed, the topics on the table.

She seldom held interest for the matters at hand, outside of reports of tragedy and of morbid nature.

There was, however, one other very, very special Lady who had never failed to remain in her interest.

The ever hauntingly beautiful and menacing Lady Bonajade.

And oh, what a marvelous investment and passing of time she was.

Jade…just thinking of their unforgettable work together was enough to bring an evocative smile to her face…it was merely everything aligning as it should, that a creature of bloodlust like herself should be interlaced with a Lady dealing in souls.

Yet, her beautiful Lady, ironic as it was, for a woman that so revolved around her contracts, had fallen behind on her debts.

Obsidian was willing to overlook many-a-flaw the Lady held, but forgetting to follow up on what she was owed?

She was fortunate the crimson collector could be so forgiving.

It was this very rightful upset that lead to Obsidian trailing Jade all the way to the latters office.

”Ohh, Jadie~!” Her voice remained laced with a front of charm, undertoned with wrath. Only her current target and desire knew the depths of her two faced demeanor.

The lilac haired woman turned to face the grandiose doorway, a small sigh escaping her.

“Miss Obsidian, what are you doing here, mmh? Especially at this hour.” Jade let her black-gloved hand motion to the snake-themed clock hanging from the wall. Indeed, it was the hour of setting up to leave.

But Obsidian hadn’t come to merely kiss goodnight, nor to negotiate.

She was here to assert.

“I’ll give you a hint, Jadie~ Do you remember what happened back in the Atelier system~?”

When she froze, a wicked grin spread across Obsidians face.

Victory.

Silence loomed for a few moments, until Jade placed her glass back on the desk. A silent sign she concedes.

”Then tell me,” Jades fingers pulled Obsidian away from her ear, to her face. Her eyes thinned upon bringing Obsidian’s night black eyes to her own slitted pupils. “what is it you desire?”

A dangerous opening—forbidden and beautiful, as her Lady always was.

And if Obsidian wasn’t already crazed, she was spiraling to further instability now.

”Mmh…if we take into consideration the context of why you owe me in the first place, lovely Jadie…”

The other woman subtly grimaced, but not enough for it to hide from Obsidian.

Nothing truly could hide from the demented woman anyway.

”I think…” The one with crimson hair traced her pointer finger from the others jaw, to the base of her neck, then back up—this time with more force, tilting the Lady’s head to the side. “A drink shall do,”

Obsidian lips were barely against a pulse point. The barely noticeable sigh that left the other woman left the former with an even wider grin.

”…you already had an idea of what I desire, my Lady…but then again—I never had to tell you, did I~?” Her fingers lightly tapped once against the cornerstone, ornamental and on display at the moment.

Jade narrowed her eyes once again, and slid backwards on her chair, turning towards the large window.

Obsidian caught her leaning body on her heel, looking towards the other with a hint of disdain.

”Eve, I have been rather composed for you this evening,” She begins, slowly creeping towards the window. “but you are beginning to make me wane in my patience. You are never usually this…aggravating. What is wrong with you?” The crimson woman’s tone became increasingly sharp as she spoke.

Yet…as she watched her Lady stare out upon the vast landscape of Pier Point, she decided to reign it in. Obsidian curled her hands behind her back, her steps quieter, leaning slightly forward as she approached the other. She poised her demeanor as a whole to appear softer—perhaps that would convince her tonight.

”…Jadie…” Her long red nails occupied themselves in her lilac hair. “…what’s wrong..?” Jade finally moved, turning to Obsidian. A mere halfway, enough for her to see a part of the slit pupils in her eyes.

”…Nothing, my dear. Simple reminiscence.” Drat. She was certainly in a mood. No matter. This was still manageable.

”Reminiscence…unlike you, my lady.” Obsidian’s fingers trailed down the back of the self-proclaimed ‘merchant.’ She stopped upon the continuous silence of her ranked equal.

”Jadie…where has your mind been lost to, now..?” Obsidian slithered her arms around her—which she hadn’t even noticed in her…state. Crimson hair trailed down Jade’s side now, as the one it belonged to rested her chin on her shoulder.

Obsidians restless fingers now trailed down the woman’s neck to the ring of her necklace. ”My sweet slithering gem…come back to me…” Scarlet nails went back up, tracing pink lips. “It’s no fun without you here, my dear.”

Finally, finally—Jadie sighed, bringing her bare hand to Obsidians. Strangely enough…she made no attempt to move it. Simply rested her own hand atop the established one.

Jade made use of her gloved hand as well. Tapping her fingers, one by one, against the long polished marble table in front of them.

Jade-at long last, began to speak. “…It’s true, what they say…they slip through your fingers, with time.” It took a moment for Obsidian to process what had been said…too focused on the feel of her fingertips against the others vowels.

”…Ah. I’ll bite. Your two charity cases.”

That comment only earned Obsidian a tone almost as sharp as the side-glare Jade gave her.

”I’ll have you know those…’charity cases’ brought the Strategic Investment Department an increase in revenue that has allowed us to exceed even Marketing Development. Aventurine alone has never returned empty-handed, and that is far more than you could say of your results.” Goodness, she was defensive too.

Obsidian narrowed her eyes, in slight. ”And what of your younger self-righteous one, mmh? Losing out on Jarilo-VI—“

“—Gave us favor with an outside faction. Both of them have granted us connection with the Astral Express—which, if you knew anything of creating connections rather than severance, is very valuable.”

Jade pulled away, causing a hiss from the other.

”I have yet to understand why you seem so keen on two young fools playing elite dress-up. Even Diamond questioned your desire to bring them in.” Jade gave no response this time, merely pursing her lips, bringing the hand that was previously atop Obsidians to her own waist. The other still tapped. She gave up on her attempt at ‘gentle’ pretense.

Oh, by Aeons above—

”Eve. Cease this irrationality. I warned you, didn’t I? Having two so young would sway your heart. And look how pathetically attached you are now.”

She turned from the windows, glaring into the pitch black pupils of the other. “I am not—“

“—Ah. Now you lie to yourself for them.” Obsidian grabbed Jade’s jaw and full attention. “Tell me, Jadie. If I were—hypothetically, to slit the throat of that Avgin boy—“

“Obsidian.”

“—or rip out the beating heart of the debt collector—“

”Obsidian.”

“and string their bodies to my chandelier—“

“Restrain yourself—“

“—In your name, should they betray the IPC—“ Jade, in an exceptionally rare moment of physical protest, pulled an evil by her wrist. Obsidian brought her lips to pink ones.

“—could you still bear to look at me?”

Silence loomed for a few moments. An unmoving, seething silence.

Jade’s only answer was slowly, almost tauntingly, tilting her head the slightest bit. Her eyes remained eerily settled, to any hypothetical passerby. But pupils of witnessed bloodshed were close enough to see the wrath.

”Collect your due, and then you may excuse yourself, Miss Obsidian.” The recipient of this clipped tone only grinned. Finally pressing lips together, and from there, creating a trail down to the pulse point she’d craved all evening.

A hidden—but still not well enough—sigh escaped Jade.

The crimson haired woman hadn’t bit down yet. Somehow—in some sick twist—she wanted to feel familiar arms wrapped around her as opposed to this cold distance.

In all truth, she was disgusted. Not with her Lady—not with her protégés, her debts, her deals—but with herself.

Because if Obsidian was to be something she seldom was—honest, she didn’t want simple tensed teases. She didn’t want to even chase. She wanted to be adored, and to adore in return. She wanted to press not only her teeth but her scarlet lips against her neck. She wanted to drink until the blood, the very essence of her filled Obsidian’s being. And this putrid revelation brought a realization.

The realization that she no longer wanted to be another bargain on ‘Jade’s agenda.

She wanted to be Eve’s sanctuary. Her alter. To have her forever in her stained hands.

And that—that horrid vulnerability was flooding her very veins—and there was nothing the vampiric woman could do to null it.

She straightened herself, and lifted her hand to hold the forbidden fruits chin. ‘One last whisper.’ So she lied to herself.

”This works better when we sit, doesn’t it, my dear?” Without awaiting a response, she caged Jade against her office chair. Back where this all began.

“No more.” Obsidians face inched so close to Jade’s, her nose nuzzled against her dearests. “No more…of this—“ She dived down to Jade’s shoulder. Her hand quickly pulled aside and dismissed her sleeve. A small nip that elicited pleasure to both. “—futile resistance.” Another pause to lick the blood from her lips. “You want what you want…and i’ll bite.” Jade instinctively caught her waist as Obsidian leaned further.

”If it eases you…if only for tonight-“ Jade felt a kiss to her ear, followed by a quiet acquiescence. “I won’t touch what’s yours…so long as you keep them out of my line of sight…and our business.

A lilac haired head gave a slight nod, both because exaggeration was not in character for the Lady, and as not to disturb Obsidians…thirst.

A pair of sharp teeth pressed against mid neck—eliciting a sharp inhale. Hands belonging to the one drinking found their places around the latters hips and shoulders.

And for a good few minutes, outside of small gasps every so often, there was a resting silence. A truce filled silence. Yet, in the arms of each other, there was an almost tangible adoration that neither would ever admit to. Sometimes turning a blind eye benefits your dues. Especially when the adoration you felt was a one way path to desires of possession.

Obsidian knew it was time to pull away when Jade’s hand, that never left her waist, was fading into remiss.

”Jadie?” The woman’s face was cupped by hands that ran warmer than most. “Still with me?”

“I’m alright, darling.” Now the others hands lifted, wiping her own blood from her vampires lips. From angles and distances Obsidian couldn’t reach herself. “Then again, such a thing would never truly distress you…in all your grotesque splendor.” A rare endearment.

The blood Jade collected on her thumb was then wiped on the others bottom lip.

Obsidian quickly tucked her lip to her mouth, licking the excess off then lifting her own fingers back to the opposing face.

”I wouldn’t fear that, no. But…” Her fingers trailed from Jade’s temple to her cheek. Her tone was low, teetering between adoration and something ominous.

”I’m afraid nothing would be the same without my favorite Lady. Even in all her slithering, calculative splendor.”

They both glanced to the window in unison. At the expansive and seemingly never ending Pier Point. The luxury, the hues, the heights, the future.

”Ah. I suppose it is quite the view for reminiscence, my Lady. It seems you were in the right, for once.”

Pale, bare hands guided a lilac haired woman to rest against her chest.

All was well again.

The vampiric, elusive woman had her dues and her Lady right were she wanted them.

Of course, the acts one day wouldn’t be enough. Her restraint would one day not be enough.

But for tonight? All was exactly as she desired.

A bloodbath flowing by her design.
