Tecna much preferred electric light menorahs, as a wire circuit was much easier to control than a raging fire. But for tonight, at least, she happily put the lit pink candle in its brass holder.
Layla put her lit teal candle in next. She was standing by with her other hand conjuring a water bubble just in case the fire got out of hand like that one year her Safta had lit it.
Stella put in her lit golden candle next. It’s color was almost as bright as her much to sparkly, gold and orange party dress. Designer, of course, and bought by her eema.
Flora gently stuck in her lit candle, as green as a fern. She then took another dainty bite of the all-natural buñuelos she had brought from home.
Musa stuck in her candle, which was a deep purple (yes exactly like the band, pun intended). In her other hand, she snacked on one of the red bean paste hamantaschen she’d made. When she brought them to a party last spring, they hadn’t burnt, but they were still pretty good now.
Bloom put her silver candle in last. It was the Shamash, as this was only night number five. The other girls all ribbed her for still always having to be the center of attention.
