Work Text:
“Jazz, honestly, I’m fine.” Mikaela argued but didn’t actually struggle as Jazz picked her up to carry her to her shift in the repair bay. “Not even traumatized this time.”
She wasn’t going to mention how rattled she’d been initially, because he’d worry more, but once the adrenaline ran out she’d slept off pretty much all of her fear at being kidnapped by Starscream and Ricochet.
“You might be, but I’m not.” And that was why she wasn’t arguing while he was being so clingy. Jazz cradled her close to his chest, close enough to feel his sparkpulse through the plating, and stopped walking for a moment. “They waited til I wasn’t here to take you, and I can’t…”
“I know.” She leaned against his chest and rested a hand as close to the center of his spark as she could safely get it. “But I am okay. They didn’t do whatever you’re imagining. Hell, Starscream was barely even there, after he grabbed me.”
“I don’t know what I would have done if my brother had killed someone else I love, though.”
Mikaela had seen Jazz’s dark side just enough to know exactly how it would have ended, no matter how upset Optimus would have been afterward. “Probably wouldn’t have been any worse than me and my welding torch if they’d gotten you. But we really don’t have to think about that, because it didn’t happen.”
“Mik–”
“I mean it! You have to stop running your processor in circles over it. We’re both fine, Ricochet is in a cell in the basement, and Starscream is off somewhere planning his next desperate scheme to keep control of the Decepticons. That’s what you need to focus on.” She turned and nuzzled his chest. “Though I don’t mind not walking myself across the entire base to get to work.”
“How is it that you’re a fraction of my age, but you’re so damn smart?” Jazz sighed. “All right, I’ll try. You’re right that dwelling on it ain’t doin’ me any favors.”
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. I think.” Jazz was smiling just slightly when she looked up at his face. “And then i suppose you want me to talk to Ricochet.”
“Well yeah, but I think you want you to do that, too.”
“Yeah. but I don’t know if I know how anymore.”
