"It's Pracitcal"

Summary:

Tim and Angela are on foot patrol on one of the coldest days in LA and Tim is freezing. He doesn't excpect a good-hearted person to help him out of his misery.

Notes:

I just had to write at least one chapter about these two, because I love them.
Have fun! ^^

Work Text:

Tim regretted everything about it this.

Mostly letting him be convinced to do foot patrol on one of the coldest days Los Angeles had ever seen. Because what was he thinking?

Usually, he wasn’t a chilblain and definitely not sensitive but something about this weather, possibly the wind or the fact that he refused to wear a beanie made it pretty much impossible for him not to shiver slightly.

All while Angela was having the time of her life teasing him about it.

There were around two hours left on their shift, when Tim gave in as much to buy himself a coffee. And he didn’t even want to know what he looked like, clinging onto the cup for dear life, his feet so cold that he could hardly feel them anymore.

“Timothy?”

“No.”

“Are you cold?”

“Shut up.”

Tim would admit that he was freezing over his dead body.

He tried to ignore it but the grin on Angela’s face simply couldn’t be ignored.

“Oh come on, just say so and we’ll be on our way.”

“I’m not cold, Angela.”

“If you say so…”

“Excuse me! Excuse me, officers!”

“Finally…”, Tim mumbled under his breath as he turned and saw and old lady walking towards them, waving.

“What can we do for you, ma’am?”, Angela asked, all teasing and grinning wiped away, now replaced by sheer professionalism.

“Just one thing…”, the lady mumbled, fumbling with her bag. Tim and Angela shared a look. Usually, they’d have to stop her but she really didn’t seem like someone to just walk up pull a gun on them.

So they waited, until the woman produced a pair of rainbow colored, sewn gloves from her bag, pressing them into Tim's hand, who took them- utterly surprised.

“I saw you shivering at the coffee truck and couldn’t have that.”, the woman stated as if it was common sense, looking up at Tim, who was flabbergasted, to say the least.

“Ma’am, that’s very kind of you, but I can’t accept this-”

“Yes, you can.”, she deadpanned, leaving Tim open-mouthed. “After all, I’m not trying to bribe you. I just know how uncomfortable cold hands are.”, she said and smiled proudly.

“Well- uh…”, Tim stuttered, looking over at Angela, who had a bright grin on her face, right before taking over the conversation.

“Thanks, ma’am. We appreciate it a lot.”, she reassured and Tim simply nodded.

“That’s good. I hope you have a great day and a Merry Christmas!”, the woman uttered, closing her bag and walking away as if she never talked to them.

It took a moment for Tim to register what had happened, looking down at the gloves in his hands. He hesitated for a moment. There was no way in hell he was going to wear rainbow gloves. But he was cold. And his fingers were hurting-

“Screw it.”, he mumbled, before quickly putting on the gloves, immediately feeling the warmth and slight itchiness of the wool. But it was warm. And that’s what mattered.

As he looked over at Angela, she still had the same shit eating grin on her face. Tim rolled his eyes at her.

“What? It’s practical.”

“Mhm. Sure it is…”
