Korra and Asami continued to spar and practice with their airbending. The wind blew, and so did the streams of air. Korra smiled as she practically danced with Asami on the sparring deck. Asami smirked too, and she finally released one final gust. Once the wind that she and Korra bent left, Korra let out a sigh.
"Alright, that's over with," Korra said with a smile, wiping some sweat from her forehead.
Asami let out a sigh as well. She had been an airbender for the last few years, and yet she never got used to it. Regardless, she was really happy to spend time like this with Korra. As she noticed her girlfriend, she smiled kindly and turned to her.
"Hey, Korra?" Asami asked. "Do you want to go wingsuit flying today?"
Korra instantly heard what Asami said and instantly cracked her head towards the engineer. She loved going flying with Asami. It was peaceful, fun, and fast-paced--just like how she liked it. And just between you and her, the Avatar loved seeing her girlfriend in something so form-fitting, and she knows that Asami knows that she teases Korra with that kind of offer.
"... Yeah!" Korra blurted out, letting her intrusive thoughts go.
Asami smiled warmly, excited over how Korra reacted. She then let her red lips curl into a smirk as she tied her hair into a messy ponytail and dug into her purse for the custom wingsuit that she modified just for herself.
She found one of the outhouses and went to change. She winked at Korra and teased, "No peeking."
"C'mon," Korra said while closing her eyes. "There's nothing I haven't seen you in or out of."
Soon, Asami changed into her custom airbender wingsuit. It was just like any other wingsuit that the airbenders wore, but with a few adjustments or mods that made it unique--The cut was familar and sleek. The colors were red, just like the traditional suits, but a bit deeper in red, like her dresses; gear symbols were embroidered on the shoulders, like her engineer jacket; and there were steel toes on the feet of the suit.
Her hair remained in a low and messy ponytail. Asami stepped out of the outhouse and struck a teasing pose, kind of like back when that Ginger girl used to pose back when Varrick was in the mover business during the events of meeting Korra's family years ago.
"Here's my new airbender wingsuit," Asami said. "I finished it last night just for myself. How do I look?"
Korra blushed and gave her a thumbs-up. "You look GREAT!"
Asami let her cheeks redden just a bit, and she stepped out of the outhouse properly. She walked over to her purse again, and Korra wondered what she possibly needed from it. The airbending engineer dug further into her purse, and she pulled out another wingsuit, but it looked way different.
This new wingsuit was numerous shades of blue and had Raava's patterns. The boots even had the same pattern and fur texture as Korra's. Korra was completely shocked, and Asami gently handed it to her, the engineer's green eyes sparkling with joy and well-intention.
"I also made this for you." Asami smiled. "Go ahead and change. Hurry up in there."
"I will." Korra gave Asami a wink and stepped into the outhouse.
Within minutes, the two had changed and stepped into the mountains of the island. Korra smiled, and Asami squeezed her hand. They just knew the rules and how to wingsuit-fly by now, but it is nice to know that they'd be there for each other if things went sideways.
"You still look gorgeous," Korra said, her voice teasing and a bit flirty.
"Oh, you're really flirting with little old me?" Asami teased back, her lashes batting playfully. "I'm just wearing a skintight suit that helps me fly with my goddess girlfriend."
"A hot suit."
Asami laughed, and the two got ready to jump. Korra nodded and let Asami go first. Asami leaped off the cliff, the wind batting at her hair, and she grabbed the snaps of her wings, unsnapping them and releasing the wings. She let out a gust of wind and soared up into the sky. Korra jumped and followed suit.
For a split second, there was a familiar rush of falling, wind roaring past their ears. Air surged beneath them as they bended, lifting both wings at once, steady and strong. Their arms rise into a Y, bodies aligning as one. Korra grabbed Asami's hand, and the two started flying together.
"Spirits, this feels great!" Asami said, laughing breathlessly and delighted.
The two guided each other through the airflow with subtle shifts, banking left. Asami stayed closed, her hand anchoring her and Korra together as they glided over the ocean.
The two saw the sunlight scattering and banked a little low to the ocean. Asami leaned just a bit and let her hand glide against the water for a bit. She glanced sideways at Korra and gave her a soft kiss on the cheek.
For hours, the two soar forward together, wings steady, air bending smoothly around them-- not just flying side by side, but truly together, hand in hand against the endless sky.
