Work Text:

''Sure is hard to see out there,'' Sanji said looking out the window. ''It's a good thing we got groceries when we did.''

''Definitely,'' Usopp agreed, ''if we didn't go early this morning than we would've starved for who knows how long.''

Sanji moved away from the window and went over to sit on the floor with Usopp, who was looking at a beautifully wrapped box with intrigue. A soft smile spread on his face, he wrapped that gift two days ago while Usopp was in his workshop making a new invention.

He propped his chin on his palm and said teasingly, ''my oh my, I wonder what's in that present.''

''A present,'' Sanji replied with a grin. Usopp huffed out a laugh, ''no shit, Sherlock.'' He grabbed the gift and carefully shook it. ''Hmm...I can't hear anything, are you gifting me air for Christmas?'' Sanji shrugged his shoulders. ''Only way of figuring it out is to open it.''

Usopp sat the box on his lap and ripped away the flashy paper with urgency and anticipation, then flipped the box lid open.

''Huh-oh!''

He lifted the item out of the box. It was a sweater that had paint, paint brushes, pens, pencils, and tools used for building things, as well as many more. ''Thanks sweetie, I love it, it has all of my favorite things on it!''

''You're welcome, babe, I was hoping you like it.'' He really, really was. He'd been worried that Usopp wouldn't like it, thinking he'd see it as ugly and stupid. Seeing that he enjoyed his gift lifted the weight off his shoulders. ''Which one are you going to open next?'' Usopp tilted his head to the side and pointed at himself. ''Me?''

Sanji nodded. Usopp sat the sweater and the box aside, ''what about you, don't you want to open the gifts I got you?''

Sanji dropped his hand from his chin and straightened his posture. ''I do, but I don't want to make you wait on opening more gifts.'' Usopp rolled his eyes, ''that's silly.'' He reached under the tree and pulled a gift out. ''Here.'' He shoved it into his arms. ''Open it.''

Sanji glanced at Usopp and the present hesitantly, he liked opening presents, too. But he enjoyed it more when it came to his friends and family opening them.

Usopp nodded down to the package, his look screaming what he had said previously: open it.

He obeyed his order and peeled away the wrapping paper to reveal a box. He opened the lid and his eyes widened, in the box, was the same thing he had gotten Usopp, a sweater. The only difference was that it was what was on it. He took it out to see it fully. It had a frying pan on it and above it was he words 'kiss the cook.'

''What do you think?'' Usopp asked with a grin that was similar to Sanji's earlier. ''I saw it in one of the shops downtown a week ago and it made me think of you.''

Sanji smiled, ''I love it, thanks babe. I'll be wearing it for sure.''

As if seeing what the two had gotten each other, the wind howled and whistled, blowing snow in the process. The two glanced at each other and then at the window. Falling flakes was all that they could see. The world outside was a white abyss.

Usopp slipped his sweater on, stood up, and then went to the window to watch the snowstorm rage on. Sanji stayed where he was for a moment, admiring his boyfriend.

''I wonder when this storm will end?'' Usopp questioned. He wrapped his arms around himself and squeezed, the appearance of the outside world causing chill bumps to ripple down his body.

''Isn't me who's supposed to keep you warm?'' Sanji questioned from behind him. Usopp jumped. He didn't hear him approach. ''Don't sneak up on me like that.''

Sanji chuckled, ''I wasn't trying to.'' He wrapped his arms around him and pulled him close. ''By the way, this sweater's nice and soft.''

Usopp looked up at him. ''You're wearing it right now?''

Sanji blinked in surprise, ''why wouldn't I?''

Usopp shrugged, ''I thought it would be something you would only wear when cooking, you know?''

''I'm shocked you would think that after how long we've been together.'' Usopp scratched his neck sheepishly. ''Now that you mention it, yeah, it's stupid for me to think that. You always love the gifts I get you.''

''Mhm.'' Sanji rested his chin on top of Usopp's head. ''And they'll always be my favorite; don't you forget that.''

''Don't worry, I'll definitely remember,'' he promised.

With that, Sanji finished the conversation with kissing him on the head and pulling him close.

Together they watched the snowstorm rage outside. Their hearts and souls filled with warmth.
