Work Text:

''This is a wonderful party you two,'' Nami complimented.

''It really is,'' Robin agreed.

Usopp rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. ''Aww shucks, thanks guys.'' This was the first time they've ever thrown a party of any sort. They usually went to someone's house or a place that one of their friends or family rented. The reason this party happened was because Usopp wondered randomly what it would be like if him and Sanji threw one of their own and it got them both discussing, and eventually, planning up to this moment.

The work was a bit stressful and hard, but it was worth it. Their guests enjoyed the food, drinks, decorations, and company.

''The wine is quite delicious, where did you get it?'' Mihawk inquired. Usopp blinked and turned and whispered ''did the Dracule Mihawk compliment the wine we're serving.'' Sanji nodded, a proud smile on his face. ''He sure did.''

''Wow.'' Usopp hadn't ever heard Mihawk give a compliment to anyone, heck, he was certain that this was the first time he's ever spoken.

Sanji thanked him and told him the brand and where to find it. Usopp tried his best to act calm and formal. Their main friend group (besides Luffy, who was too focused on shoving food down his throat) noticed. Zoro and Nami both rolled their eyes, Robin chuckled, and Chopper admired his 'cool and collected' attitude.

The response the couple got from the gothic, quiet man was a small nod. Usopp squeaked. He felt like he and Sanji deserved a gold medal because of this. As well as host more parties and invite him to them.

''I think you've stunned the lad, hawk eyes,'' Shanks said with a hearty laugh. Mihawk only spared him a quick glance before taking a long drink of his wine.

''And I think Shanks is the reason he drinks sometimes,'' Usopp muttered. His boyfriend shrugged, ''could be.''

“Sanji,” Chopper called, waving his mug in the air. “May I have some more hot chocolate, please?”

Of course, Chopper.” He walked over and took the mug from him. “I might have some myself, the temperature outside is perfect for it. What about you, babe?”

”How could I say no to your famous hot chocolate,” Usopp said.

”Three hot chocolates coming right up.” He exited the room.

”If you all don’t mind, I’m going to go help him, Usopp said before heading into the kitchen.

”Babe, you go back in the living room and have fun, I’ve got this.” Currently, Sanji was preparing to decorate theirs and Chopper’s hot chocolate, with whipped cream and toppings.

”Absolutely not, one of the rules of being a good boyfriend is helping them prepare food and drinks.” Usopp grabbed a bag of marshmallows that were on the counter and poured out a small pile into his hands before shoving them into his mouth.

”And eat the ingredients?” He questioned with a grin.

”You gotta make sure it’s fit to eat,” Usopp replied, “we can’t serve bad marshmallows to our guests or our stomachs.”

”You’ve got a point there,” he agreed. “But aren’t there other ways to check food?”

The reply he got was a marshmallow to the forehead.

”Whoops,” Usopp said playfully. “I’m sorry, my hand slipped.”

Sanji swiped the bag from him and pulled out a handful of the fluffy sweets.

“You’re going to wish you didn’t do that.” He tossed the marshmallows, the small treats hitting him in the face and landing in his hair.

”Argh you got me.” Usopp grabbed his face and head in fake pain. “I don’t think I have much longer to live.”

”No way, you two are having a marshmallow fight!?”

The two looked over at the entrance to their kitchen and seen Luffy and Chopper staring.

Usopp plucked the marshmallows out of his hair, “no—well, maybe a small one.”

”No fair, why didn’t you invite me or Chopper?” Luffy bunched his hands into fist and pushed his lip out in a pout.

”Because it was a couple’s marshmallow fight,” Sanji explained.

”Well, can we do a marshmallow fight with all of our friends?”

”No.”

”Aww,” Luffy and Chopper said in unison before leaving the two with their heads hanging low.

Sanji shook his head, “he can be such a child.”

”What did you expect from Luffy?”

He sighed. Usopp had a point. When it came to Luffy there was no formality or manners, especially when there was food around.

”Let’s get these hot chocolates ready and head back to the living room.”

Usopp got in a military position and said, “sir yes sir, chef Sanji.”

“I’m so glad I have my hot chocolate with me,” Chopper said, bringing the cup to his lips.

”I’m glad Robin remembered the fireworks.” Nami glanced at her, gratitude on her face.

”Yeah, good job mom for remembering,” Chopper praised.

She reached down and ruffled her son’s hair, “it was nothing really.”

”It was something,” Usopp said. “If you didn’t remember we would have missed the first few fireworks.”

Sanji, Usopp, and their guests stood outside on the apartment balcony, bundled up in their winter clothes, looking up at the night sky filled with stars as they waited for the fireworks to begin.

”The sky sure is gorgeous.” Usopp said, mesmerized by the many stars shining in the ebony sky.

”I can see the prettiest star,” Sanji informed the others. Usopp turned his head. “Which one’s that Sanji?”

He pressed a kiss to Usopp’s lips and said with much love in his eyes, “you silly.”

Usopp, wide eyed and malfunctioning, stammered. Zoro groaned, “that’s the cheesiest thing I’ve ever heard.”

”I disagree, I think it’s quite cute,” Robin said.

”Thank you, Robin dear.” Sanji glared at Zoro, “and to you mosshead, haven’t you heard of if don’t have anything nice to say, keep your mouth shut.”

Zoro didn’t reply, he just brought a bottle of sake to his lips and drank. That idiot is lucky I didn’t kick his ass.

”Look!” Chopper shouted, pointing to the sky. The all listened and followed the direction of his hand to see a small fireball going up high in the sky. “It’s starting!”

Everyone settled close to each other and watched as the fireball exploded into a bright purple color.

”So pretty,” Nami murmured.

Usopp rested his head on Sanji’s shoulder and said, “we did pretty damn good didn’t we?”

He wrapped his arm around Usopp’s waist and said, “we sure did.”

”Happy New Year Sanji.”

“Happy New Year Usopp.”
