Only with a little too much alcohol in his bloodstream was Sae able to ask. It was natural for him to ruin moment. The words spoke upon themselves, “What would you do if you don’t feel like that anymore?”
“What?” Shidou replied, with his eyes still on the sky.
Sae repeated the question.
“Then I would light our flame again.”
“How?”
“Lots of kisses,” Shidou said as if anything was that easy.
“What if you don’t feel anything when you kiss me?”
He looked serious for a moment, his eyes on Sae, eyebrows slightly furrowed and his continuous smile was nowhere to be seen. The expression was odd to see on the man, but not unwelcome. The demeanor lasted all of five seconds before his mouth formed a grin, declaring his solution, “Then I’d kiss you again.”
“But it's not th—” Sae could blame the surprised noise that came out of his throat on his intoxication. He should’ve expected it.
“Do you still feel something?” It felt like an insult.
At this point, Shidou was completely on top of him. His hands held his weight beside Sae’s head and his knees straddled his midsection, one on the right, one on the left. Sae nodded his head. “Good,” “If you don’t one day, we’ll worry about it then.”
“What about you?”
Shidou tilted his head to the side. “What about me?” Sae hated when he did this. He knew what Sae was asking but he’d press until Sae asked him outright. Sae pushed a few of the blonde strands of hair that had fallen across his face. He left his hand on his cheek and Shidou leaned into the touch. His skin was always so warm, like it was trying to melt into his own.
“What if you don’t feel anything for me one day.”
“I’ll always feel something for you.” Another kiss. Sae had no choice but to believe.
