Work Text:
Titan observed silently from the sidelines, surrounded by the asteroids he’d quickly gotten used to, his nerves making his whole body jittery. Today was the day he was going to try to reach out to the Earth’s moon! If he were entirely honest, he hadn’t really given the Earth’s moon much thought despite having been eh… observing the rockies for ages. He was very quiet, always sort of just sitting by the Earth engrossed in a book or watching the games the Rockies played, he was seemingly never included but, Titan never paid that too much mind, he was here for the Earth not his moon. Thinking back on it, it did seem a bit strange but, maybe The Moon liked it that way?
Either way he decided to just move on.
He watched the moon closely now, both trying to get a read on him and spot an opening so that he could try and speak to him without the others noticing the moons disappearance, though the latter probably wouldn’t be much of a problem, he thought once he started actually paying attention to what was happening once more, the former would prove quite a bit harder.
The moon, upon inspection that he had never previously spared for anyone other than the rockies (Earth), was actually quite pretty, he had silver-grey hair, a mix of waves and curls that got darker at the tips, it was shorter in the front and longer in the back, going from just below the ear to the base of his neck, his skin was a soft grey colour with darker spots ranging from the size of a crater to far too large to be a meteor impact, I couldn’t get a good look at his eyes as he was currently turned away from me so I was unsure of the colour but, I knew they were incredibly pale in colour, almost white. He had freckles all over his face and shoulders mainly, though there were a few elsewhere as well. He didn’t have a visible atmosphere based on what I could see but that could just be the distance I am viewing him from, I can’t be sure.
His clothes are unique, that might just be because he takes inspiration from the earthlings fashion sense though, I don’t know, he’s wearing a black turtle neck tanktop of sorts with a very light grey off-shoulder sweater over top with black stars sewn in across the chest. He wore baggy black jeans and combat boots with a buckle around their center.
I took about five minutes, hiding in the shadows, to build up my confidence, before finally, almost stage-whispering. “Psst… PSST! Hey!”
The moon looked up, glancing around, clearly having heard me and attempting to locate the source of the voice, “over here!” I say once more before The moon sees me and locks eyes with me. I squirm under his intense gaze, so thaaaats’s what colour his eyes are! They are a cold ice blue, they look like crystals in the light reflecting a wide range of blues and purples. They are enchanting and chilling at the same time, if it weren’t for the fact that I was currently under his extraordinarily harsh scrutiny I could probably admire the different ice blues and reflected light for hours, but, as it is, just as quickly as he made eye contact with me, he broke that eye contact.
“Do I know you?” He says, skepticism lacing his voice. His voice is surprisingly high pitched and smooth. I would love to just listen to him talking for a while but,- wait, uuhhhhh…
“W- Are you that crazy planet that lives in the asteroid belt?” He continues, eyes narrowing. Huh? Crazy planet in the asteroid belt? What- who? Uh- y’know what I’m just not going to ask.
“What? Uh- no I’m… not a planet, my name is Titan! Saturn’s moon.” I smile. “You’re a moon? Hah! No way!” The moon looks like he absolutely does not believe this statement in any way. Which is weird to say the least- but, his shocked face is kinda endearing. Wait… Excuse me brain?
“Uhh you ok?” The moon says, snapping him back to attention. He realises he hasn’t said anything for far too long. “Yeah! Sorry- um, why, what makes you say that?” I manage to stammer out, why am I so nervous all of a sudden?
“I mean you look pretty big for being a moon, I mean you’re way bigger than Pluto, you may be even bigger than Mercury!” Mercury, somehow over hearing this from his orbit? (don't ask) Looks over with a disapproving glare at Luna, to which Luna sends an apologetic one back,
‘Well I don’t know about that, you’re just-""Hold on, is that an atmosphere?! Oh, I’d kill for one of those!” At this the moon gets a weirdly excited look on his face before getting uncomfortably close up to admire my atmosphere, I feel the heat rise in my face as he stares at my chest, well that answers my question! No atmosphere it is.
“I- uhh, hey- eh can you like?” I begin “Yes! UH- sorry, way too much.” The moon looks away blushing from embarrassment, probably. “So- uh.” He begins turning back towards me “Why are you here?” He queries “I just wanted to meet ya, you’re Earth’s moon after all” I then realised how weird that sounded and my face heated again. I wiiiiish it would stop doing that.
If The moon noticed he didn’t seem to care, “I see, you’re interested in the Earth?” I was interested in the Earth but I don’t think he’s the only one I’m interested in any more. The moon is strange, but I quite like him! I think I would also like to get to know him better in future.
I kept this to myself though and instead said “I mean who isn’t? He has the conditions to sustain life, and he has liquid water!””I guess he’s unique but we all are in our own way! I believe that-” I cut him off, though a little reluctantly as he looked kinda cute as he started off on his tangent, but I didn’t have a lot of time, so I charged on “Can you introduce me to the Earth? Please?” He looked a little surprised at being cut off before quickly recovering, “Won’t Saturn know that you’re gone?” He said becoming a bit more serious, similarly to when he first saw me. “Saturn has 83 moons, it’ll take him a while.” I answer confidently, entirely ignoring the fact that I was the favourite. “Alright, I’ll see what I can do.” He said his voice lightening a pinch. “Thanks! Oh, you’re the best. Let’s stay in touch!” I say happily, a smile painting my face as I begin walking away, my core feeling warmer than usual.
huh.
