Chapter Text
Working in the Mafia is a dangerous thing, you'd think anyone with common sense would believe that. Being the head of it all, even worse. Collecting debt and the person deciding to fight back? Boom bullet in your skull. Cross the wrong person wrong time? Dead in a ditch.
Well, you'll only end up dead if you're slow. That's Don's advice, But you know what could make this lifestyle much harder?
"Padre, are you leaving tonight again?"
"Yep, and don't go pestering one of my boys about when I'm coming back... again."
A child. One in which isn't even related to you, but she feel into Don's hands.
Augustine Stanca Sonnellino.
Or just August to most. Now learning to be a father wasn't something on Dons' agender, so was he good at it? Ehh, I'd rate it about a five out of ten. I mean most of the hardest parenting years were over once he adopted her so why bother? Not to say he wasn't horrible.. he was just busy, busy, busy. Running this debt collecting Mafia stuff was a relatively time consuming thing- who would have guessed? Good thing to was pretty a independent teenager.
A small stain dripped off Don's shirt as he made his way inside, shaking off the little rain that made it's way onto his suit. Placing his coat on a rack while two of his goons came in after, walking past to another room.
"How was work today? Get any news from that fella, in the east of town?"
A voice from a nearby couch, reading a book and barely looking up. But her face was visible, that oh so familiar red-ish orange fur with two slightly shorter bunny ears then his own were tied back with a clip.
"It went well, and we did. Just needed a little.. convincing to pay us back."
Don replied, also removing his fedora and placing it with his coat. August made note of her father's words, He began walking past before adding.
"Abbiamo ospiti. Sii presentabile, coniglia."
(We're having company. Be presentable rabbit)
And he was gone around a corner. August sighed, she thought she looked fine right now... maybe she could fix her hair.. wait who's coming over that she needed to meet? She got up, closing her very interesting historical fiction book before heading up the near by stairs to her room. Now the place they lived was festering with The Mafiosos' Boys, and Robloxians associated. It was some fancy big manor that was basically home base for a lot of these people. But obviously a lot of the place was off limits to them, unlike August who could basically go wherever she wanted as long as the door wasn't locked and she wasn't causing a fuss.
She passed a couple of these people, barely batting an eye at them. She was used to them and so were they. She'll never forget the day some bloke didn't know who she was and went off at her about how a child shouldn't be here. This dumbass not seeing realising this was his boss's daughter. The look of shock and fear in his eyes. She thought also being a rabbit hybrid gave it away.
She face planted I'm her bed. Before letting out the most stereotypical teenager girl sigh.
"I hope Enoui is the company."
She muttered to the other bunny in the room, also known as Prince. A fat grey rabbit she got as gift from Don.
She got back up, kneeing down to pick up this fluff ball. Petting him while he was making happy rabbit chirps.
....
Eventually she heads back out, hearing a car she doesn't recognise pull up. It's engine was quieter then most, clean and new. Having those big ass ears cames in handy.
She poked her head around the corner of the top of the stairs. Eyeing the man entering, but not letting herself be known. This guy looked kinda familiar but she couldn't figure out why, maybe just his face was similar to someone she knowns. He wore a fancy suit with wrist ruffles and a blue vest, so he stuck out like a sore thumb between the black and white suits of literally everyone else. And wore a nice icy blue hair clip in the front, a matching one at the back to hold his long hair in a very loose tie at the end. She got the impression of the kind of fake person she hates. Or that's just her normal of hating of anyone new in her life.
"It's rude to spy-"
"HOLY FU- will you stop sneaking up on me!?"
She whisper-yelled after the sudden surprise.
Known to most as Consigliere. Who was concurrently standing behind August with a hand on her shoulder. He stepped forward, so he was more to the side of her.
"Your father has been spending a considerable amount of time with that guy. Must be some new weapons dealer."
Consigliere guessed.
"He said he needed a new one.. he looks like a stuck up prick. I don't trust him"
"Oh and you can just tell?"
"Yeah, questioning my methods?"
"Of course not, all knowing-"
"Ah- August come down, I want to introduce you."
Don's voice come from the open door, and next to the stanger. Consigliere backed off, not wanting to be seen.
August came down, still trying to figure out why she didn't like this guy.
"I'm Itrapped. Pleasure to met you."
This "Itrapped" guy sounded like she predicted to, an asshole, August nodded and held out a hand to shake.
"Augustine."
She replied. Staring at her dad for answers as to who this was.
"You're gonna see more of him around here, I want you two to be acquainted. He owns a handful of the places in this city. Real helpful for business in imports without suspicion from the law."
Don spoke with a much enthusiasm as an old man can.
"What kind of places?"
She questioned.
"Some businesses, a dock and two warehouses. All pretty centralised in your families turf"
Itrapped replied. Eyeing the pair standing in front of him, how they looked similar despite being unrelated.
....
Why is this guy eating dinner with us?? He's just some guy who thinks' he struck gold working with the Sonnellinos'. Father's too attached for some guy he seemingly meet recently.
August ate with slightly more silence then normal. Eating dinner with her father is a luxury, now it's ruined. Normally she'd honestly be fine with stuff like this, her dad talking business over dinner with someone else, maybe Enoui or another. But she plain and simply didn't like this guy, he was too close with Don and too fast. That often leads no where good.
She stared dangers into this guy, and fixed that look when her father looked near her. But she definitely made her point to the other, how he shifted uncomfortably away in this chair. She'd picked up a lot of things from Don, mainly how to look fucking pissed with that almost cartoonishy intimating shadow.
Itrapped didn't speak to her.
August was first the finish and first to leave-
"Oh Augustine?"
What does this fucker want now??
"Lovely to met you."
He spoke too kind it was clearly fake to August
"Uh. You too."
A fatass lie, but She'd rather just stuck it up then upset her father. Before getting outta there and to the safety of her room, maybe sleep will be good.
"I swear I've seen that guy... doesn't help I don't trust him for whatever reason." She spoke to Prince laying on her stomach.
....
"I don't think your daughter likes me.."
Itrapped added to their conversation.
"She's like this with anyone new. Very untrusting of new people."
"She's got your look."
Itrapped said, unwilling to admit how much a 16 year old girl scared him.
