Work Text:
If he was honest, he was actually kind of sorry about this. But on the other, he was sure that whoever he robbed would understand. Tomorrow was Christmas Eve after all and he couldn’t just show up to the family gathering with no present, now that he was finally invited again after years.
That’s what Smitty thought as he carefully examined the presents set up in the break room for the colleagues, who wanted to gift each other something but didn’t work any shifts together before the holidays.
Surely if there was just one missing-
“Smitty.”
A sharp voice broke the silence and Smitty flinched, turning around, hiding the present behind his back. He’d seen that in so many cartoons, it was bound to work.
“What are you doing?”, Lopez interrogated.
“Not stealing presents. Definitely not stealing presents.”
For a moment, Lopez just stood there, eying him like he was a child that spilled its cereal again.
“I do not have the time, nor the energy for this… put it back or I’ll ask Grey to assign you to heavy duty for the next six months.”, she grumbled, her voice barely above a whisper and certainly enough to completely terrify Smitty.
Immediately, he put down the present and tried to shuffle out of the room, but Angela blocked him, slamming her hand against the doorframe.
“I repeat. If there is one single present missing, I-”
“Yeah yeah, I get it.”, Smitty capitulated, squeezing past her.
Now he’d actually have to find a shop that was still open and actually find something decent…
Nah.
Who was he kidding, he thought, as he made his way to the trailer park. Someone has certainly forgotten to lock away their presents…
