Work Text:

"Run~ through the land~", Silver murmured along the TV.

Blue couldn't help noticing that, while she was sat on the sofa, her brother looked like a little kid kneeling in front of the screen, without care for the consequences of doing so. Since the episode began, he'd also occasionally turn his head around to make sure she was watching. Blue sighed with affection:

"Ah, the villains are just Team Rocket."

"Not really, they have different goals. And you must've noticed the team is just Red's Pokémon. This drove Gold nuts."

"Aha, I can see it. You did say the inspiration for the show was both Red and Gold, right?"

"Yeah. And he still complains about them not using his team, so he refuses to watch… Though, if he did, he'd see what he's been missing out."

Silver's back was turned, but his sister could feel a pout in his tone.

Blue thought the show itself was kind of boring, or rather just not her thing. While her brother had been a fan of big, strong characters fighting with action, the girl figured she preferred the josei type. Another factor was—

"They recently released in a magazine descriptions about how the robots work, and it's very interesting." His eyes were starry as his face turned once again to check Blue's attention.

"Ooh, you'll need to show me later!" Silver had also been fascinated about the functioning of things that interested him.

In a way, it all tied back to their training. They did live to understand how evolution worked, so the interest made sense. Oh, that is one depressing thought. Blue shove it away, in the very back of her mind were every memory of it rested as well.

"Ah, that was fun," she commented as the ending music began to play, "are we watching another?"

"Are you bored?" Silver looked upwards once again, but with a frown.

"I'm not, serious! We can watch one more episode if you'd like." At that, Silver takes few seconds to think and press to keep watching. "You should come here, though," Blue pat her side on the sofa.

As Silver complied and sat down, his sister pulled him to an embrace. Like that, the two were positioned comfortably as another Proteam episode played. Though, this time, Blue was the one to murmur to the opening. Silver's expression softened by noticing it:

"It's great, right?"

"It is!"

Silver wasn't dumb, he'd always been a good people reader; it was obvious Blue wasn't interested. Still, he was glad she put on effort to make him happy, and it worked.

Once, there was nothing that could distract Silver or make him happy, even when he had an amazing sister at his side. As a kid, there was no entertainment aside from educational videos on Pokémon battling. To be able to get that even if late, it was the best. Oh, what a depressing thought. Tauri-Liner's call pushes it away.

…But it doesn't work. Silver suddenly feels weird; his chest tightens. Maybe that episode, which was re-watched four times already, just wasn't interesting enough to serve as distraction. Well, but he couldn't change it, since Blue was now paying full attention and it was supposed to be the last one they'd watch. He clung closer to his sister's embrace, as an attempt to get out of the sudden feeling of shame.

Ah, the feeling had a name. Yes, there was a part of Silver that felt embarrassed for being so amazed by a childish media, a cartoon of all things. Another part of his broken brain called himself shameful for not having been a normal kid. Stupid, of course. As if a two year old would have control over being or not kidnapped. But, still, the boy couldn't help wishing to have lived a normal life, where he'd be able to watch the same kid shows Gold and Crystal did. Ugh, those thoughts were sudden and hit like a truck, it was the worst.

Silver couldn't be normal.

"Hah, Snorlax is my fave. He's just like me." What? The absurdity threw Silver off.

"No… You're Aerodactyl."

"Hmm, you think so? Which one are you, then?"

"…Gyarados."

"Of course, makes sense! You put thought to it, huh?"

The red in Silver's face said it all. Yeah, what if he did spend time assigning each of his friends a character from Proteam Omega? It's just as relevant as zodiac signs or blood types. His body shifted as Blue giggled.

Ah. The episode had ended. Blue yawned:

"I think the two of us should go to sleep now, huh?"

"I don't want to…" Once again that tone and pout that made him look like a child. It'd made Blue's smile wider.

"Well, under my roof you're not allowed to get past bedtime, what about that?"

"What bedtime… I'm sixteen."

'See, just a baby!' was a thought Blue kept to herself.

"Not past 11pm. C'mon," she pat Silver's shoulder, and he once again complied moving without a word.

Blue got up, but instead of doing the same, her brother stopped her tracks by pulling slightly on her shirt. He sighed:

"Can I sleep in your room?"

The girl's face softened:

"Sure."

…Over time, long ago, the siblings became experts at reading one another. So, Blue could tell Silver needed comfort now. She wouldn't ask for a reasoning; both have had moments they'd feel horrible all of the sudden, plus it did make sense. He hated the cold, winter makes Silver miserable without fail.

They set up in Blue's spacious bed. At that, she gladly let her brother cling close:

"Comfy?"

"Hm."

She didn't miss the way her brother looked like had shrunken himself to fit better in her arms.

"I want to ask, why did you assign me Aerodactyl?"

"Because it's lively. But Pikachu also fits, since you like cute things…"

"Aha, you're right! I'm the cutest there is!" That took a laugh out of Silver.

At last, there was nothing worth worrying about. Silver would be forever grateful for having his sister's support. With that, he could sleep peacefully.
