“What the hell are you doing?”
“Searching for the movie I told you about, duh.”
“On a Russian website? Are you sure we’re not gonna end up being kidnapped?”
“Don’t be dumb, I always watch movies on this website and I’m fine.”
“Whatever you say…”
Katsuki wasn’t really convinced but he let Denki search for the movie on the “Russian YouTube,” as Denki had called it.
Christmas was coming but that didn’t mean they were getting less busy. They were now in their third year of High School and soon they would graduate from the UA Academy and would become pro heroes.
Finally.
God knows they already had more experience than some actual pros.
Denki and Katsuki hadn’t been able to spend that much time together lately due to how busy they had been so, naturally, when they found out that they would be given the day off that sunday, they decided to spend it together. They had locked themselves in Denki's room and had spent the whole evening just talking about their week laying lazily on the bed. Well, in Denki’s case walking around the room and throwing darts because he couldn’t stay still even if his life depended on it.
Night had fallen upon them faster than they had expected and it was then that Denki had suggested watching a movie before going to sleep.
Katsuki was already regretting accepting.
“What was the movie called?”
“Eurotrip.”
Katsuki grabbed his phone and Denki immediately took it out of his hand before he could even open the Letterboxd app.
“Hey!” Katsuki tried to reach for his phone but Denki stopped him by putting his hand in Katsuki’s face and hiding the phone behind his back.
“Don’t do that! You always search the movies I suggest on Letterboxd before watching them and you immediately lose interest in them because you deem them weird!”
“And I’m always right about it,” Denki removed his hand from Katsuki’s face and pouted at him.
“That’s not true, you can’t know if a movie is weird if you haven’t watched it.”
“I don’t need to watch the movie to know that it’s weird if the whole premise of the movie in question is a cis man in the 90s getting pregnant.”
“It’s a good movie!” Denki protested and Katsuki laughed at him.
“Whatever you say, Sparky.”
Denki had always had a strange taste in movies. Actually, no. It was more like a strange taste in anything. He liked whatever bullshit made him laugh and then he forced Katsuki to also watch said bullshit because he liked torturing him. Needless to say, Katsuki didn’t find those things as funny as him. Not like that mattered though. At the end of the day, Katsuki would rather indulge Denki in anything to see him happy than wasting his time caring about something as banal as his own pride.
Ugh, that’s so sappy. What’s wrong with you, Katsuki.
Denki finished writing the movie title in the search bar and clicked on the first option.
“Then? What is this movie about?”
Denki looked at him with a smirk and his eyes lit up with mockery.
“Patience, dear Kacchan. You’re gonna see it in a moment.”
“Ugh.”
Katsuki redirected his sight to the tablet’s screen as the movie’s intro started playing.
“That’s… a pretty chaotic intro.”
Katsuki watched with horror as animated characters started throwing up cascades of vomit inside of a plane. Denki laughed at his side.
“Oh boy, this is just a way to prepare you for the actual movie,” Katsuki looked at him with doubt.
“Are the characters going to vomit in a plane?”
“Well, no, that would be gross. It’s much worse than that, though.”
Perfect, just what Katsuki wanted to hear.
“Lord, please don’t make me do this,” Katsuki closed his eyes and started muttering prayers.
“Kacchan, don’t close your eyes! You have to keep watching, this intro is really good!”
Katsuki forced himself to watch the rest of the intro.
You love Denki, you want to make him happy by watching whatever he wants you to watch.
Katsuki repeated those words in his head like a mantra as the real movie started playing and he saw a… man with a cape running through a school entrance?
“What? Oh, it’s a graduation.”
It wasn’t a cape but a gown.
That reminded Katsuki that their own graduation would be soon. There were only three months left and they would have to say goodbye to their dorms and class. A feeling of sadness mixed with that of pride invaded Katsuki.
He had become used to the routine of waking up, seeing his classmates at school and then studying up in his room or training on the numerous training grounds that UA provided. However, in three months that routine would fade away as if it had never existed. He would come back to his parents’ house, he would receive his pro hero license and he would start working as Best Jeanist’s sidekick as an official pro hero and not a student. Maybe he wouldn’t see some of his classmates anymore.
Not that he would stop talking with those he considered his friends, obviously. More like those who he considered his friends wouldn’t leave him alone even if they were miles away from him. Kirishima would always call him when he was feeling down, seeking for advice; Sero would keep gifting him candles and incense sticks even though Katsuki already had a bunch that he hadn’t even had the opportunity to use yet; Ashido would keep inviting him over to her mother’s aerobic sessions—Katsuki still didn’t know why she had begun doing that; Monoma would always call him every time he participated in a dangerous operation to see if he was okay; Izuku would always bother him to death in every situation Katsuki was in.
And he had Denki.
Denki would always be by his side, just as Katsuki would always be by his.
He really loved that idiot, much to his regret.
“Why is the blondie not wearing a shirt underneath his gown?” Katsuki stared at said man on the screen, who was apparently trying to get between his friend and his friend’s girlfriend. Katsuki didn’t know if he was joking or not. He was confused. “What is wrong with him?”
Denki just laughed at his words and started munching on some chips from a bag that he had taken from under his bed.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, the girlfriend in question broke up with her boyfriend.
“What?!”
Denki just laughed louder.
The guy’s family started taking photos of them together even though the guy looked absolutely distraught and confused. Confused just like Katsuki felt while watching this.
“Oh! She was cheating on him?” Suddenly, a bulb lit up on top of Katsuki’s head. “Wait! His name is Scotty and her name is Fiona? And she’s cheating on him? And their faces seem familiar to me…”
Denki looked at him fondly and nodded.
“Yeah, the song ‘Scotty doesn’t know’ is from this movie.”
“I love that song.”
“I know. That’s part of why I wanted to show you this film,” Katsuki turned to Denki and smiled weakly.
“So it wasn’t just because you wanted to torture me by making me watch one of your stupid movies?”
Denki laughed and hugged him from his side, kissing his cheek.
“That’s the other part, yes.”
They continued watching the movie with Katsuki making comments about ridiculous things that kept happening.
“Why does Scotty resemble the rat from ‘Flushed Away’?”
“Wait, why is Cooper literally you?”
“Jeez, this movie is so clearly American.”
Denki kept laughing at every little comment he made and sometimes he shared his own thoughts on the things that were happening. Though most of the time he was quoting audios from TikTok or memes taken from Twitter that Katsuki only knew because Denki himself had shown them to him.
He was ridiculous.
Katsuki really enjoyed watching things with him.
He had been surprised by that at first. They didn’t have the same type of humour nor the same opinions on a lot of things so the first time they had decided to watch a show together, Katsuki had thought it would be a disaster.
Contrary to what Katsuki had thought, the experience ended up being quite interesting.
Denki liked watching movies and shows. He was really good at detecting secret meanings behind some scenes and analyzing what was underneath of the shown material. Sometimes he even figured it out before Katsuki, as Katsuki had noticed when they watched ‘The Summer Hikaru Died’ and Denki talked about all the details and allegories for hours, mentioning a lot of things that Katsuki himself hadn’t catched on.
If only he were like this with class things.
Unfortunately, Denki was hopeless at that. Most of the things they studied in class didn’t interest him so he wasn’t able to focus on them like he focused on other things.
Though, Katsuki still didn’t understand how these kinds of movies interested him.
“Oh oh! Is this the scene of the song?!” Katsuki looked excited at the screen, hearing the first notes of that song he used to reproduce on loop on summer vacation last year.
“Yep! This is the scene, enjoy it,” Denki was clearly laughing at him but Katsuki was too excited to care about it. Suddenly, a thought occurred to him.
“Wait, we just started the movie and the song is already appearing, what is the rest of the movie about?”
Denki looked at him with derision.
He’s mocking me.
A shiver ran down through Katsuki’s spine. He didn’t like where this was going.
“Katsuki, the movie is called Eurotrip but all of them are American and there’s an airplane in the intro. Put two and two together.”
Great, now he was embarrassed.
“Leave me alone! How was I supposed to know?”
“You don’t have to know, it’s quite obvious I would say.”
Katsuki felt his eye twitch.
See, as much as Katsuki loved Denki there were things about him that annoyed him to no end.
This was one of those things.
Denki loved teasing him.
“It’s not like I do it on purpose! You just get ragebaited too easily!” he always said, trying to justificate himself.
The author would like to tell the reader that Denki was very much doing it on purpose.
“Whatever you say, let’s keep watching.”
“Oh? You didn’t yell at me, is Kacchan’s tolerance to ragebait growing stronger?”
Ignore him. Keep watching.
“Kacchan? Oi, pay attention to me, you anchovy.”
Don’t fall for it. He always calls you by fishes’ names when he wants to draw a reaction from you. Don’t let him win this.
Denki pouted and looked at the screen, finally ceasing to laugh at Katsuki.
Or that’s what Denki wanted Katsuki to think.
Suddenly, Denki tackled Katsuki and they both fell, ending up laying down on the bed.
“Denki!”
Denki started laughing like the maniac he was and lay completely on top of Katsuki, the tablet and the movie momentarily forgotten.
“What? Did you get mad at me for making fun of you? You can’t be mad at me for that, it’s not every day that we see the Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight saying something stupid, you know? So when you do I can’t help but laugh, can you blame me?”
Katsuki just sighed and closed his eyes, deciding to give up on acting mad at Denki.
“I’m not mad at you.”
Denki rested his head on Katsuki’s chest and wrapped himself all over him.
“Of course you’re not really mad at me, you’re too weak.”
Katsuki tried to hit Denki on the back of his head but Denki hugged him more firmly so that he couldn’t move a muscle and laughed.
“You’re a jerk,” Katsuki said, giving up on trying to break out of his restraints.
Denki rested his chin on Katsuki’s chest and looked at him with his stupid shit-eating grin.
“You’re also a jerk.”
Katsuki blew a puff of air at Denki’s face, causing his hair to move and forcing him to close his eyes. Denki opened his eyes again and partially liberated Katsuki from his confinements, resting his elbows on each side of Katsuki’s face and letting his lips make contact with Katsuki’s lips.
Denki’s lips always tasted of thunders and rain, making Katsuki feel like he was constantly standing in the middle of a field on a rainstorm, watching the sky being completely devoured by dark clouds laden with electricity and feeling the need to run towards the tallest point of the meadow to be struck by a lightning. Katsuki always felt like a current of electricity travelled through his veins every time Denki touched him, making him itchy but at the same time not letting him leave that sensation, almost like it had made him addicted to the sensation of his skin being burnt at his touch, like he couldn’t live without feeling that blaze within him.
The feeling stopped suddenly, forcing Katsuki to move his head forward, searching for that source of brightness that had left him feeling empty and cold.
A laugh reverberated through Katsuki’s chest. It hadn’t come out of him though, but out of the person he had on top of him.
Katsuki opened his eyes and was met with Denki’s sparkling eyes staring at him with satisfaction.
“You good?”
“Yeah,” answered Katsuki breathlessly.
Denki giggled again. Katsuki took advantage of Denki’s state of bliss and distraction to liberate his right arm from Denki’s grip and placed it on his nape, leading his head to the front and catching his lips again.
Denki sat on top of Katsuki’s lap, positioning his legs on each side of his body, keeping Katsuki caged without the opportunity of escaping from Denki’s embrace, and kept kissing him slowly and lazily.
“Stop smiling, idiot. I can only feel your teeth,” Katsuki breathed against Denki’s mouth, who couldn’t stop smiling and giggling.
“Sorry sorry, I’m just really happy,” he traced the scars on Katsuki’s face with his fingers and then moved them to gently brush his lips, which were slightly red and humid from the previous kisses. “It’s been a while since we had the time to just relax and be together.”
Denki straightened up and sat still, holding Katsuki’s hands in his and intertwining their fingers.
“I’m also happy. I think I missed you… just a little bit,” Katsuki tightened his grip on Denki’s hands, like he was afraid of his boyfriend standing up and leaving the room not to return until their next day off. Denki caressed the other’s calloused and slightly sweaty hands with his thumbs, smiling gently at Katsuki’s words.
“Mm, I’m sure you missed me just a little bit. I missed you a lot though,” Katsuki’s already reddish cheeks turned even more red and he rolled his eyes, clearly embarrassed because of Denki’s statement.
“You’re so damn sappy,” Denki laughed again, leaning forward and letting his weight rest on Katsuki’s hands.
“Don’t be a bummer, little cockle. I know you like it when I say sappy things,” Katsuki started pushing Denki to the sides, arm-wrestling with him.
“Lies slander, I don’t like cheesy things. And stop calling me that!”
“Aww, why not? You never like the nicknames I give you, Kacchan,” he pouted and avoided Katsuki’s eyes, focusing his gaze on a blank point in another direction.
“Because your nicknames are really fucking weird! I’m not a mollusk nor a fish,” the explosive guy shook his hands to get Denki’s attention back.
“And? I fail to understand the point you’re trying to make,” Denki leaned as forward as Katsuki’s grip let him and blew a puff of air at his face, getting back at him for having done the same thing moments ago.
Katsuki sighed and let Denki fall completely on top of him again.
“I hate you.”
Denki smiled cheekily and kissed him again, wrapping his arms around Katsuki’s neck.
“I love you, sea bream.”
“Ugh.”
Katsuki ran his hands through Denki’s hair to play with it and feel the electricity tingling his fingers, leaving him with sore hands but a smile on his face.
A disgusting smile.
Katsuki had turned into what he promised to destroy.
“Katsuki? Do you want to keep watching the movie?” he looked at him with those eyes full of hope and happiness again and Katsuki, far too weak for him, couldn’t bring himself to say no.
“Sure, now I’m curious about what’s going to happen. Let’s keep watching.”
Denki moved from his spot and grabbed the tablet that had almost fallen from the bed, the screen turned off for having been ignored for a long period of time.
They didn’t return to their initial positions and instead decided to just remain lying down on the bed, Katsuki with his arm extended and Denki sprawled on top of him, using Katsuki’s arm as a pillow.
The screen lit up again and Denki pressed the play button, excited to see Katsuki’s reactions to the rest of the movie.
Really excited.
The building was silent.
It had been silent for a while now, five minutes? Maybe ten?
Denki didn’t use alarms that often. In their first year of high school he had his own alarm programmed for the same hour every day but he always ended up waking up on his own due to the constant buzzing he felt from his classmates.
The lights being turned on and off, appliances being used in the kitchen, hair dryers being used in the bathroom.
His classmates were really enthusiastic and had a lot of energy in the morning. They had so much energy that they always ended up waking Denki up with their chaos so, at some time during their second year Denki decided to stop programming his own alarm and just woke up when his classmates did.
But now a tranquil and comforting silence reigned on the dorms.
Denki tried to move from his awkward position in the bed and regretted it immediately. His whole body hurt from having fallen asleep in an uncomfortable situation. Denki tried to move again and felt an arm under his head, a far too warm arm attached to a body that he recognised too well.
Ah, I remember now. We were watching Eurotrip and we fell asleep immediately after.
Denki wrapped his arm around Katsuki’s stomach—which had ended up exposed due to his shirt moving during the night—not wanting to burn his skin due to Katsuki’s above-average body temperature level but needing the physical contact.
They didn’t usually sleep together—more like they couldn’t if they didn’t want to hear Aizawa’s endless reprimands—but sometimes, when they were too tired to go to their own rooms or when they didn’t want to let the other go because they hadn’t been together for too long, they indulged themselves with the opportunity to have the other in their arms while sleeping—or their comfort after waking up from an unpleasant nightmare, those were far more common than either of them wanted them to be.
Denki opened his eyes and saw Katsuki lying down by his side, his face completely relaxed and his mouth slightly open, breathing calmly.
You’re not fair.
Denki moved his numb arm from Katsuki’s side to his face and pressed his lower lip, which was a little damp with saliva from his sleep.
“Mmm,” Katsuki moved in his sleep and closed his mouth, forcing Denki to retreat his arm and guide it to his hair instead, trying to unsuccessfully tame it a little bit.
“Kacchan? Are you awake?”
“Mmm…my arm hurts,” a smile formed in Denki’s face.
“Yeah, I’ve been using it as a pillow the whole night.”
“...jerk.”
“I didn’t do anything.”
Denki kept stroking Katsuki’s hair while smiling, feeling the other relax under his touch. Katsuki had always reminded him of his grandmother’s white gigantic cat. Zeus liked pretending to be tough and always hissed at whoever approached him but when someone petted him, he immediately began to purr and throw himself on the floor to be pampered.
Needy for love but too prideful to ask for it.
If Katsuki were an animal, he would without a doubt be a cat. Period.
Suddenly, Denki remembered what had woken him up.
The lack of energy on the building.
The far too calm atmosphere.
Denki stood up abruptly, surprising Katsuki, now completely awake, and searched for his phone.
8:30
“Fuck! Katsuki we’re late!”
“What!?”
Katsuki jumped out of the bed looking completely dishevelled and his face drenched in panic. He tried to turn on his phone but the screen remained black.
No battery.
Wasn’t Katsuki a really good boyfriend? He was dating a walking charger but wouldn’t use him to charge his phone because he saw Denki as the person he was and wouldn’t use his quirk to do things that weren’t necessary.
Denki was sure Katsuki was regretting his past decisions.
Katsuki left the room running as if possessed by the devil, not before shouting at Denki to prepare swiftly.
Denki was left alone in his room. A roar of laughter escaped from his throat at the absolute absurdity of the situation.
Well, I guess we’ll have to confront Aizawa-sensei after this, whether we like it or not.
