An Eventful Christmas

Summary:

It’s that time of year again, when people are wrapping gifts and getting ready for the holidays. But of course, there is never a normal day for the people of Griffon Rock, not even on Christmas.

Or

The Rescue Bots spend Christmas a little differently than usual.

Or

A Christmas special

Work Text:

“I’m terribly sorry, but I’m afraid that they’ll be stuck like this for the time being..” Doc Greene said regretfully, looking at the now tiny bots.

How exactly they ended up like this was a question in itself. The Burns had found the minimizer again, and Kade had been tasked with putting it back so that it wouldn’t fall into the wrong hands. However, the red-head may have gotten a bit sidetracked and accidentally activated the machine, which just so happened to hit the bots.

On top of all of that, they couldn’t even change their partners back because the minimizer broke soon after it was activated. Doc Greene couldn’t fix it because he and Frankie had left Griffon Rock for the holidays, and Christmas was just in two weeks.

“Of course we just had to be there when it activated!” Heatwave scowled, crossing his arms over his chassis. “And why the scrap am I shorter than Kade?!”

Indeed, the Rescue Bots were rather.. short. They were practically a head shorter than Cody now, much to their chagrin.

“Awww, is the tiny bot mad that I’m taller now?” Kade teased, earning a shove from the firetruck.

“It’s alright, Doc. We’ll just have to make do,” Chief said, ending the call before sighing. “We can’t even have a normal Christmas, can we?” He joked, earning a chuckle from Boulder.

“At this point, there will never be a normal day on Griffon Rock.” The tractor said, sitting next to Graham as he showed the mech how to make an origami crane.

Chase, however, was quite annoyed by his reduced size. The policebot could no longer reach things from high places and everything seemed to be much larger than him now, which frustrated him. “Surely there is some other way to return to our normal sizes?”

“Sorry Chase, but you heard the doc! You four are stuck like this til further notice.” Dani said, before continuing to tease Blades about his sudden decrease in height.

Heatwave and Chase groaned. This was going to be a long day..

———————————————

“We really didn’t think this through, did we?” Graham groaned.

The team was just about to go around town and make sure that all the safety measures were being followed, which could help prevent several emergencies throughout the holidays. The Burns would go through several regulations, accounting for almost every emergency there could possibly be.

There was, however, something that they hadn’t accounted for.

The Rescue Bots in vehicle mode were currently the size of those fake cars young kids would pedal around in, and thus too small for any passengers. Dani couldn’t even fit her arm in Blades’ cabin!

The Burns didn’t even try getting in their partners after they transformed to vehicle mode, as they were barely the height of their knees.

Cody failed to stifle his laugh at this, seeing the bots so tiny and his family looking like they were rethinking their life's decisions. He received withering looks from some of them, only serving to make him laugh harder. “I’m so sorry— it's just- this looks really funny right now, sorry.” The young boy said, calming himself.

Charlie facepalmed, already over with everything that was happening. “Unfortunately, we don’t have the time to get our old vehicles up and running again.” He said, his children collectively groaning. “Team.. it looks like we’ll be walking this year,”

———————————————

Kade wasn’t annoyed— no, he was irritated.

Seeing his partner so tiny was funny and all, but he didn’t know that Heatwave was that small! He couldn’t even ride in the firetruck now, resulting in his current predicament; walking all over town while Heatwave just drove beside him. Strangely enough, Heatwave didn’t respond to Kade’s banter as quickly and sassily as usual.

The red-head was beyond annoyed by this point, and now he had to talk to citizens about rules, ugh!

While Kade talked to each person about the regulations and examined their decorations or other safety hazards, all Heatwave did was stand around awkwardly and kick ice.

The only amusing thing was that almost every citizen gave Heatwave a curious glance or blinked several times at the tiny bot, as if they thought they were imagining things.

Is he seriously gonna make me do everything?? Kade thought, frustrated. He’d already had to reprimand a few people about the amount of electronics they had plugged into the same area, and very much wanted to be back home.

By the time Kade finished talking to the last resident on the block, Heatwave was sitting on the ground and drawing on the snow. “The heck are you doing?” He deadpanned, crouching down to the firebot’s level.

“I’m bored. Plus, you guys talk way too much.” The firetruck complained, not even pausing to look up at him.

Kade sputtered. “Excuse me?! I’m actually doing something productive here, Mr Lazy!” The red-head shot back defensively, crossing his arms over his chest.

“Whatever. Can we go now? Hanging out with others is more fun than this,” The firebot whined uncharacteristically, standing up and wiping the snow off of his frame.

Kade raised an eyebrow at the small mech’s strange behavior, but relented. “Yeah yeah, let's go back home.”

———————————————

Chase watched, unamused, as Chief talked to each and every civilian on the block, going through each regulation and safety hazard there could possibly be. “And remember, we don’t want a repeat of last Christmas…”

According to the policebot’s chronometer, they’d been out here for at least two hours, which felt like centuries to him.

Looking back at the Chief, Chase decided to walk around for a bit and find something to do. The eldest Burns seemed occupied with his discussion, and likely wouldn’t notice his absence for a good while.

Chase walked a few blocks, watching in interest as his pedes left prints in the snow, only looking up when he heard loud chatter.

There were some kids in the park, walking around and playing in the snow. The small enforcer watched in silent amazement as snow was thrown back and forth between two groups, the scene filled with joy and laughter.

Meanwhile, with Chief Burns..

Charlie sighed softly as his discussion with the mayor finally came to an end. He was really looking forwards to a warm cup of coffee and a calm evening when he got back to the firehouse.

“Alright, let’s head on back now Chase— Chase?!” The eldest Burns turned back towards he’d last seen his partner, only for the bot to be missing.

Gosh darn it Charlie, how could you lose Chase?! He thought, panicked, as he started looking around for any sign of the blue bot.

Spotting the footprints in the snow, Charlie quickly started making his way down the block. The man hoped that nothing had happened to the small bot— their smaller sizes meant that it would be harder for them to defend themselves. I should’ve been paying more attention!

After a lot of panicked slipping and sliding, Charlie finally spotted a familiar blue head in the park, sighing in relief as he jogged towards them, before pausing in surprise.

There were two groups on each side of the park, each with their own snow walls and snowballs being thrown in every direction. But that wasn’t what surprised the eldest Burns— it was the familiar blue bot building a snowman while cheering the battle on.

Chase and a few people were currently decorating the snowman, one of them lifting the enforcer up to make the snowman’s face. Finally, Chase turned around and noticed Charlie, giving him a little wave from his elevated position.

“Ah, Chief Burns! You didn’t tell us that the bots could be such cuties!” A woman called out, patting Chase’s head and drawing a smile from the small enforcer. Charlie merely raised an eyebrow, amused at the situation. “I hadn’t thought that the town would find out about their size problem,” He said, watching as Chase was put down before the enforcer immediately began spying on the snowball fight again.

A few people snapped a photo of the excited blue bot— Charlie included. “Chase, it’s time to go.” He called out, and the enforcer perked up, walking over to the Burns and hugging his leg.

Pressing his comm link, Charlie contacted the rest of his team. “Kids, there may be some other side effects we weren’t aware of.”

———————————————

“Kids, there may be some other side effects we weren’t aware of.”

Graham peered down at his small partner, rethinking several things.

The two of them had originally been going over regulations with some of the civilians, but Boulder kept getting distracted by squirrels and other nature-related things, putting everything on hold.

The green bot would find something, bring it to Graham, and ask the Burns about it— even if it was just a cool looking rock. At first, Graham found it a bit amusing, but it was starting to get worrying.

Graham knew that Boulder was curious, but not about random shiny rocks and wild animals he’d see on the street. Not only that, but the tractor looked at the Burns with such curiosity and wonder whenever he had a question— which would’ve been normal if it was about human customs.

Realistically, the minimizer shouldn’t have done anything but drastically shrink the bots. However, with everything he’d been seeing so far..

We really didn’t account for everything… Graham thought, as he watched Boulder chase another squirrel.

Sighing, the engineer kneeled down and opened his arms. “C’mon, Boulder, time to go. Wouldn’t want to keep the others waiting, right?” He asked, getting caught off-guard when the tractor barreled into his arms and gave the engineer a tight hug.

With all of the evidence he’d seen, it all pointed to one explanation. Gulping awkwardly, Graham activated his comm link. “Uhm, hey guys? I think the bots’ bodies weren’t the only thing that shrunk..”

———————————————

Blades stuck his glossa out at Dani for what must’ve been the third time in the past seven minutes, much to the girl’s frustration.

The helicopter was on the roof of one of the houses, refusing to come down despite Dani’s desperate pleading. In contrast to his usual behavior, he’d transformed and flown himself up there, taunting Dani from the top.

The residents of the house were quite worried, having been given a brief summary about the orange mech’s reduced size. “Maybe we could get a ladder? I don’t even want to imagine what could happen if he fell,”

Dani just kept pointing and shouting at the small helicopter. “Blades, get down now! You hear me?! Don’t you stick your tongue at me!”

“Uhm, hey guys? I think the bots’ bodies weren’t the only thing that shrunk..”

Dani blinked, the Burns processing this for a moment before activating her comm link. “Wait, Graham, you don’t mean—”

“Their minds may have currently been reduced to that of children.” Her brother confirmed, exasperation present in his voice.

Blades was now staring down at them curiously, having noticed the abrupt stop in shouting. His tiny rotors flicked or spun every few moments, waiting for something to happen.

This better work. Dani thought tiredly, looking towards the helicopter again. “Blades, if you don’t come down then you can’t hang out with the other bots!”

The girl watched as the orange mech’s face scrunched up in concentration, before huffing and flying back down to the ground, transforming back into root mode and crossing his arms sassily.

“Great, you’re like a moody teenager now.” Dani deadpanned.

———————————————

When the team had finally returned to the firehouse, the Burns had a family meeting while the bots entertained themselves. From the corner of his eye, Charlie could see their partners outside having a snowball fight, their laughter filling the silence.

The eldest Burns turned towards his kids, his face serious. “I don’t have any problem with the bots' reduced ages, but..”

“They could get seriously hurt during an emergency.” Graham finished where he’d trailed off, face grim.

They all looked back out the window, where the bots were playing. The four of them looked so happy, Heatwave and Boulder building snowmen and making snow angels. Meanwhile, Cody seemed to have joined Blades and Chase as they threw snowballs at each other.

They watched as a stray snowball hit Heatwave, and suddenly all five of them were throwing snow everywhere, their giggles filling the air.

The bots were innocent, cheerful, and so terribly small.

“Well, then we just have to make sure there isn’t an emergency.” Kade said, determination written on his face.

“Well we’re gonna need a really good plan then, and by that I mean crazy good.” Dani deadpanned.

.

.

.

“That’s the plan?” Dani asked incredulously, resting her hands on her hips.

Kade gasped and put a hand on his chest in offense. “This is foolproof, Dani! C’mon, I’d like to see you come up with something better,” The red head sneered.

“Alright, that’s enough!” Charlie said, breaking up the argument before it could spiral into something worse. He gave both Dani and Kade a firm look before continuing. “I think it’s worth a shot. Even if the chances may be unlikely, it’s better than doing nothing at all.”

———————————————

The plan was to tell everyone in town to just, be careful. As in, no crazy new inventions, helipacks flying around in the cold, rule breaking, cats in trees, and ignorance of safety protocols.

At first, the townspeople were quite reluctant of these temporary rules, which limited some of them to less than favorable options, like walking in the freezing cold.

After seeing the shrunken bots, however, many residents quickly agreed to these changes, so long as they were to be removed after the bots were back to normal— and that they could get photos of the bots.

Mrs Needleander stared incredulously at Kade (who had brought Heatwave and Blades with him because Dani was out shopping), before quickly shouting. “Look at them, you bumbling buffoon! They must be freezing out here, oh, come inside quickly.” She said, calling the bots over.

Indeed, Heatwave and Blades seemed to be the most affected by the cold weather out of all the bots, shivering way more compared to Chase and Boulder. Graham had inferred that it was because Heatwave had water tanks and Blades’ rotors would easily freeze, but they were still unsure.

Mrs Needleander had sat the two bots down on a couch while she covered them in blankets, all while Kade stared, dumbfounded. She patted them both on the head affectionately before they snuggled into the covers, the firetruck’s engine purring in contentment.

Is this really Mrs Needleander?? Am I missing something? Kade thought, jaw-dropped, watching the scene unfold in front of him.

Finally, the woman turned her attention to the Burns again. “Have you lost your mind?! Poor things were freezing out there!” She shouted grumpily, scolding the red-head.

The two bots on the couch watched this, the helicopter sticking out his tongue at the Burns’ misfortune. Heatwave yawned quietly, leaning on Blades’ shoulder and falling asleep, while the helicopter continued to silently tease the red-head from the couch.

.

.

.

A few hours later, the town held a vote about the new temporary rules, with everyone agreeing (some of them reluctantly) to the changes.

Kade elbowed his sister when the final decision was announced, smiling pridefully as Dani rolled her eyes. “See? I knew it would work.”

———————————————

Miraculously, Kade’s plan seemed to somehow work. For days, not a single emergency came up, allowing the Burns to better understand and spend time with their partners.

Boulder acted much like his older self, curious about the world and friendly to everyone he met. His eyes would shine with barely contained glee whenever he found something that interested him, and the tractor had nothing preventing him from showing Graham his findings, who would chuckle and listen to the mech’s ramblings.

Surprisingly, Heatwave was the complete opposite of his older self, being quieter and more withdrawn and often hiding behind the others when they were in crowds or large gatherings. The firetruck would often be seen getting dragged into games and pranks, but never starting them himself. Heatwave often seemed neutral or uninterested in several things, but his eyes noticeably lit up whenever he saw something that made him happy or interested.

The most shocking of them all, however, were Chase and Blades, who seemed to have completely different personalities. Chase played many pranks, enabled chaos, and had a perfectly innocent facade whenever someone pointed a finger at him. Blades was sarcastic and grumpy, often starting chaos and teasing others for entertainment. The two of them often teamed up, causing so much chaos that Dani had taken to calling them the “little demons”.

Quite strangely, the Burns had quickly learned that the bots would not speak much, and that they only spoke a few words of English if they did, as if it was difficult for them.

“Wait! Please, come down, before any of you get hurt!” Graham cried out frantically, watching as Blades flew up in his Dino-bot form with Boulder, who was holding and reading a book as they flew.

Thankfully, they were all inside so Blades could not get that high— merely reaching a space near the ceiling before landing and sitting there. Of course, Chase was the first one that was brought up there, having probably been the one that started the mess. Heatwave had been second, having been unceremoniously snatched in front of Kade and Cody, which earned a bunch of yells and demands from the red-head.

The Burns watched as the bots settled down up there, Heatwave leaning against Boulder as they read together while Chase and Blades made silly faces at their partners.

Charlie Burns pinched the ridge of his nose tiredly, amused yet irritated all the same.

———————————————

They really shouldn’t have expected the peace and quiet to last. For the past few days, the Burns and bots had gotten comfortable, adapting to a new, emergency-free routine that included making sure the bots hadn’t somehow gotten themselves lost.

Additionally, it was Christmas Day, so the family was overall relaxed and ready for the holiday.

So of course, an emergency was bound to pop again. It was unavoidable, after all.

They just didn’t think it’d be so bad.

———————————————

All they could see was fire. The flames raged on, consuming the other houses with its fury and filling the air with smoke while people screamed.

It had been an accident, an honest mistake. A wire had been torn, its sparks igniting on the wooden walls before the entire building was consumed by flames.

“Everyone, stay away from the fire!” Kade yelled, asking into one of the houses with a gas mask on. With the bots being both smaller and more childlike, the Burns had been forced to take their old vehicles and could not rely on their partners to aid them.

Cody watched his family work to help the panicking townsfolk, guiding them and calming them down. Chief was directing the civilians with a megaphone, asking if anyone was missing or in need of medical aid. Dani was taking care of injuries and smoke-inhalation, and Graham was helping pass items or calm others. Kade..

The youngest Burns peered at the building his brother had run into. The house was practically engulfed in flames by now, the wood was weakening and would likely collapse soon. A part of Cody was telling him to stop worrying, that Kade had done rescues like this before, that Kade could handle it. But that was when the bots could help him, The other part of him spat, only serving to make the boy more conflicted.

He needed to take his mind off of it. What was something he could do— that could make him busy?

He spotted the bots not that far away, looking around at the crowds and flames— as if they were lost.

“Guys, you four shouldn’t be over here. Come on, let’s go somewhere else— it’s not safe here!” Cody tried, attempting to distract them from the devastating situation.

The bots wouldn’t budge, their wide eyes glued to the scene. The screams and yells of panic continued as they stood, as if frozen in time, before Heatwave finally moved.

The red mech had stared at the doorway Kade had gone through, the flames slowly consuming the house, and he ran.

The movement seemed to snap the others out of their shock, and Cody could only yell out to them as he watched all four bots dash towards the fire.

“Wait-! Come back!” The boy called out, panicked, before contacting the others. “Guys, dad, the bots are going to the fire! They won’t listen to me!”

———————————————

Heatwave didn’t know what he was doing. All the bot knew was that his friend— the kinda rude, loud one —was inside the falling building. The firetruck was running towards the entrance before he even realized it, dashing inside in search of the man.

The strange people had taken care of them and gave them gifts— it only made sense that the bots were worried. To them, the people were their friends.

All the mech could see was bright red and orange, swallowing the air and the walls— and the warmth that was creeping into his plating.

“K.. ade-! Kade!” Heatwave called out, trying to receive any response. English was a bit hard for him and the others, the unfamiliar language having strange replacements for Cybertronian words.

Looking back, the firetruck found that his team had indeed followed him into the building, and looked as determined and fearful as he was. The four of them began desperately climbing over and clearing rubble in hopes of catching a glimpse of the firefighter, working as fast as they could.

“—Listen, everything’s going to be okay!” Boulder perked up at the sound of Kade’s voice, pinging the others.

———————————————

“—Listen, everything’s going to be okay!”

Kade may or may not have run into a little problem after entering the flaming house and finding the trapped residents.

That is, the only visible exit had collapsed in on itself. Of course.

So here he was, calming down two kids and their mom and reassuring that no, you’re not going to die today and yes, we’re going to get help soon. Which, wasn’t really as reassuring once Kade realized that 1. He didn’t have an escape plan, and 2. He couldn’t call for help because his comm link wasn’t with him.

They were currently on the second floor of the building, too high to be safe enough to just jump out of the window— especially with three people in need.

The red-head could see the roaring flames slowly but surely creeping closer and mentally cursed himself. I should’ve brought a fire extinguisher with me!

Heatwave would usually take care of the fire while Kade rescued civilians, so the Burns had completely forgotten to bring a fire extinguisher, which would have really turned the tables right about now.

Think Kade, think! He looked around for any openings in the debris that could be just large enough for them to fit through.

Crack!

Huh? What was that?! Kade looked around wildly. The sound could’ve meant that someone had noticed his prolonged absence and sent help, which was something they really needed right now.

“Stay here.” The red-head told the family, crawling towards the stairway where the noise had come from. He grabbed some of the debris, and started to pull, ignoring how sore his arms were already.

We’re going to get out of this.

———————————————

It felt like forever before the bots could see an opening in the rubble. Boulder had transformed and was shoveling through the rocks while Heatwave sprayed any flames that got too close— Chase helped with a spare hose as Blades moved away smaller rocks with his winch.

Despite the fear, it felt right for the four of them to be there. To be helping and looking for others in such a dangerous situation, as if it was a part of their very being.

“…Hello? We’re in here!”

Boulder watched as an opening was revealed, before Kade’s head popped up— looking unharmed. The red-head’s eyes widened in shock when he saw them, and he sputtered.

“What are you guys doing here?! What if you get hurt!?”

The four bots’ eyes lit up when they noticed him, and he felt fear creep up his spine. They had come to save him, despite the raging fire and their small bodies.

He could only watch as the bots started to focus solely on widening the opening, disregarding everything else around them. God damnit, Kade! They’re so small, but we need the help! “Fine, but be careful!” The firefighter said, assisting in widening the opening.

Once it was wide enough, Kade called the family over and they started making their way through the house again. Heatwave and Chase were spraying down any flames in their way, clearing an unsteady but fire-free path.

It shouldn’t have been a surprise when the water stopped. Smaller body, smaller tanks, Kade reasoned gravely, watching the two bots try to get even a drop of water to come out. As they continued struggling with the hoses, the Burns started looking for another route, unbeknownst to the weakening beam above them.

———————————————

Boulder and Blades were watching their friends desperately struggle with the hoses, only for no water to appear. Their EM fields were filled with fear now, afraid that they were trapped.

Crack..

The two younglings’ gazes snapped to the ceiling, where a weakened beam attached to the ceiling was weakening. If it fell..

Blades’ optics widened. The beam was going to fall on the people! Looking to his left, it seemed Boulder had reached the same conclusion, and they shared a glance before acting together.

The two bots barreled into Kade and the mom, pushing them out of the way at the last second. The woman let out a shriek as Kade grunted in surprise, landing a bit away as the beam fell.

“What the actual—!” Kade’s words died on his tongue as he froze and took in the scene in front of him.

A wooden beam had collapsed on top of Blades and Boulder, trapping the helicopter’s leg and the tractor’s middle. Almost immediately, Heatwave and Chase had run over to them, Boulder letting out a pained whimper as they slowly lifted the beam off of them.

Behind him, Kade could hear the kids starting to cough, likely due to the amount of smoke there was now.

He started to move, as if on autopilot.

He checked for major injuries, then bruises and dents. Then, he picked up both the helicopter and tractor, settling them in his arms.

———————————————

Chase watched Kade check over his friends with trembling hands before picking them both up. The enforcer could see how afraid the red-head was, holding both boys close to him.

Tearing his attention away from those three, Chase started to examine the area. The path they were taking was already starting to become consumed by raging fire again, and two of them were already hurt. Heatwave and Chase shared a glance.

While Kade and the others weren’t paying attention, the two of them hesitantly made their way through the fire. The flames heated up and licked at their plating, and the intense heat sent pain up their limbs, threatening the boil them. Still, they continued on.

When they reached the same doorway they had entered through, they found more rubble blocking the entrance.

Frowning, Heatwave tried carefully moving the debris, to no avail. Thinking hard, the firetruck shakily lifted up the rubble covering most of the entrance, the blue bot assisting him soon after. After lifting it high enough, the red mech took off his ladder and shoved it under the rubble, letting the tool hold it up for them.

Nodding to his friend, Heatwave moved to hold the other side, allowing Chase to transform into vehicle mode and speed through the opening. Just as quickly, the red mech made his way through the opening as well.

The police car sped across the area and didn’t stop driving until he spotted the Chief, taking a sharp turn to avoid driving into him. Transforming to root mode quickly, the blue mech started tugging the man’s pants, trying to drag him towards the house.

“Chase! Are you alright, where are the others? Cody told me you guys ran into one of the houses!” Charlie said, checking his over partner worriedly.

Chase ignored the man’s questions. “Help, Kade is trapped!” He said, continuing in his attempts in dragging the man.

Charlie’s eyes widened, looking towards the house at spotting the red firetruck that was speeding away from it.

———————————————

Together, with the help of the townsfolk, the Burns managed to free the doorway enough so that everyone inside could escape while Heatwave kept the flames at bay.

Several people gasped as soon as Kade and the others were visible, Dani rushing over to them and checking over any injuries.

After a few more hours of searching and putting out flames, it was declared that there were no casualties, much to everyone’s relief. It was then decided that those who had lost their homes would take refuge in the firehouse for the time being, and that repairs would begin the next day.

The Burns family had given the bots a short scolding about running off and then getting hurt, but were quickly congratulated on assisting with the rescue and given their Christmas gifts from each of their respective partners.

Kade watched as Heatwave’s eyes lit up in surprise, hesitantly hugging the cat plush close to his chest. The red-head found it quite endearing how the firetruck held it preciously, a smile appearing on his face before Heatwave suddenly hugged his leg, making a sound of gratitude.

Chase stared at the gift Charlie had given to him for a few moments before slowly smiling, a true, genuine smile. It was a photo of everyone on the team, the bots, and a majority of the townsfolk. The policebot quickly hugged his partner in thanks before running off to his friends and putting the photo in his cabin.

Boulder began to paint excitedly after Graham had gifted him multiple paint buckets and a large canvas, having the same passion for art as his older self. The tractor would point at certain details with sparkling eyes, making the engineer chuckle.

Blades stared at the contraption he was given with curiosity and confusion, turning and examining it in his servos. “Look, you point it there and then pull the trigger like this,” Dani guided him, and the helicopter watched in surprise as orange paint shot out of it. Sitting still and staring at the gift in his servos, Blades waited until Dani had turned away before shooting some of the paint at her, smirking at her offended gasp.

Now, everyone was relaxing from today’s emergency, cheering each other up and spending time with each other. The bots were in the bunker, entertaining and distracting the civilians from the loss of their homes as Charlie cooked dinner for everyone.

“Alright everyone, dinner's ready!"

———————————————

It was finally the day where the bots would be turned back to normal. Doc Greene and Frankie had arrived back to Griffon Rock the day before and immediately started working on the minimizer after spending some time with the shrunk bots.

“Is everyone ready?” The Doc asked, holding the minimizer in his hands.

“We’re ready, you can start now.” Charlie said, backing out of the blasts radius. The bots were standing in the middle of the parking lot, confused but staying where they were obediently.

Changing the settings carefully, Doc Greene aimed at the four bots. “Activating the minimizer.. Now!” The beam hit the bots, and a second later they were back to their normal sizes. They groaned and gripped their heads, slightly disoriented.

The Burns family let their shoulders drop. The young bots were cute and fun to be around, but they had missed their partners.

Looking up, Chase’s faceplates twisted in confusion. “Is there something on my faceplates?”
