It was peaceful in the cabin for once. Recently it has been decorated for the festive season.
You were currently sitting on the couch with your foot placed on the arm rest while reading a random book that you had found on the bookshelf upstairs. The fireplace crackled in the background.
As you continued your reading, you turned to see Taph standing over you behind the couch, your heart almost jumped out of your chest, frightened by his sudden appearance.
“TAPH!” you exclaimed, holding your chest as your breathing calmed down.
“👋” She greeted you as the wings on his head fluttered.
“So, what brings you here?” You asked as you awaited his answer. “🧑🤝🧑👨🍳🟤🙏😋” (Could we cook brownies please?)They asked.
You tilted your head as you closed the book gently. “Brownies, you say?” You repeated the question. Taph nodded.
That did sound like a good idea, since it’s the festive holidays. Another idea popped into your head. “What about, Holiday brownies. How does that sound?”
You whispered with a smile. Taph’s wings went up at that idea, nodding his head vigorously. “✅” You both headed towards the kitchen and start preparing the items. While over there by the bookshelf you happen to find a cookbook which came in handy.
“Brownies..Brownies..” you muttered as you flipped through a couple of pages. Finally finding the recipe you were searching for. The two of you cheered quietly as you both did not want to wake the others. Taph had already gathered the ingredients for the recipe while you had taken out the bowls and other utensils and placed them down on the counter.
You got started on pouring all the ingredients in a bowl while Taph watched, the smell of cocoa filled the air
As you'd put the bowl down to look over the instructions again,Taph couldn't help but lower his bandana and taste the brownie mix while you weren't looking. You didn't notice until you turned away from the book.”😅” (Heh..) She looked like a kid who got caught eating sweets.
Taph then began to pour the mixing into the square shaped pan, watching the brownie mix slowly spill out of the bowl. Meanwhile you searched the cabinets for any sweets. Luckily you found some. “I found some!” you tell her.
Later you both waited for the brownies to be done. For about an hour, a ding noise was heard, Taph’s wings tilted up at the sound. When you opened the oven, Taph was practically bouncing, and couldn't wait to taste it. The brownie aroma filled the kitchen.“Calm down, Taph. The brownies need to cool down first.” You chuckled as you held the pan with your mittens.Seeing Taph all giddy and excited like a child was a bit amusing to see. Taph huffed slightly at your words, their wings lowered. “Oh come on, don't be like that.” You teased them.
A minute later..
You cut the brownie, You and Taph then take a bite. The chocolate melts in your mouth, the sweetness and candies that were added in hitting the spot, plus what made the brownies really special was making it with your partner, Taph. Even if you both were put in this endless hell. At least you had each other.
