Work Text:

Soonyoung's eyes wouldn't leave the window. His face was pressed against it, leaving a print of condensation from his breath. He was regressed and he had been waiting. The weatherman on the TV said it would snow today, but that had been soooo long ago. Soonyoung had watched the sun set and now the only light came from the other apartments and the street lights. He was getting sleepy and there was still no snow. Soonyoung huffed, his breath tickling him. He tore his eyes away from the window to look at Wonwoo, who was reading on the couch next to him.

"Nonuuuuu!" He whined. "Where's snow?"

Wonwoo gently placed his book aside and turned his attention to the little. He looked thoughtful.

"Hmm, I'm not sure Soons. Maybe tomorrow."

That was not what Soonyoung wanted to hear. He plopped down onto the couch with another huff.

"Want it tonight."

Wonwoo was sympathetic. but firm. "I know, but it'll be okay if it doesn't arrive today. That will give you something to look forward to tomorrow." He tried.

Soonyoung, arms crossed, took a moment to think about it. He looked rather defeated.

"I guess."

Wonwoo, taking the opportunity for what it was, stood from the couch and offered the little his hand.

"Come on, maybe when we wake up, there will be a surprise waiting for us."

Soonyoung began to perk up a bit. "Like Santa?"

"Yeah, kinda like Santa, but with snow."

The little took his hand, bouncing off the couch. He was convinced.

"Okay, we sleep."

Soonyoung didn't have an official or designated caregiver, just trusted sitters. Soonyoung and his friends were still new to his regression, but they were all learning together. Sleepovers like this were common. Sometimes when Soonyoung was regressed, he stayed with Jeonghan, Seokmin, and as of lately, Wonwoo. He had become attached to Wonwoo, always wanting to be near him. Wonwoo was baffled but honored. It meant the world to him that Soonyoung trusted him with a side of himself that was so personal and fragile.

Their sleepovers were becoming his favorite. There was a whole section of Wonwoo's small room set aside for Soonyoung and his things, extra clothes, toiletries, stuffies. the whole lot. Soonyoung was somewhat complaint as Wonwoo helped him get ready for bed, choosing his pajamas, washing his face, and even brushing his teeth. When it came time to get into bed, Soonyoung didn't hesitate to crawl in next to Wonwoo, tiger plushie under his arm.

"Sasha gotta sleep too." Soonyoung explained, setting the plushie between them.

"Okay." Wonwoo replied, patient as ever.

"Nonu?" Soonyoung called out after a minute of silence.

"Yeah, Soonie?"

"Goodnight kiss?"

Wonwoo let out a small laugh, leaning over to kiss Soonyoung's forehead. The little giggled and even in the darkness, Wonwoo could see the tiger plushie being shoved in his face.

"Sasha too, Nonu!"

"Sasha too."

He kissed the tiger plushie. Satisfied, Soonyoung fell asleep. Wonwooo fell asleep shortly after. He was startled awake the next morning by a practically vibrating Soonyoung bouncing on the bed.

"Nonu! Nonu! You hafta get up!" Soonyoung exclaimed.

So, he was still regressed, Wonwoo deduced. He opened one eye. The sun was barely shining through the closed curtains. It had to be early. Why was Soonyoung waking him up?

"Soons, can we go back to sleep?"

"Nu-uh. Snow is here! We hafta see it!"

Wonwoo's tired brain was trying to work as fast as it could in desperation. "The snow will still be there in a few hours." He tried.

Soonyoung wasn't deterred. "Nonu! No, we hafta see snow, now!"

Wonwoo dared to open his other eye, pleading with the little. "Can we at least have breakfast first?"

The little pouted, but sighed with a nod. "Okay, but quick breakfast, Nonu. It's the first snow."

"Quick breakfast it is."

After the quickest breakfast of Wonwoo's life, also the messiest, he was then tasked with getting himself and Soonyoung suited up for playing in the snow. Soonyoung hadn't thought ahead for snow. He had a jacket, but no coat, scarves, or gloves. Thankfully, Wonwoo had extra and was willing to share. The little was squirmy as Wonwoo attempted to dress him, but otherwise compliant. In the end, he was bundled up in Wonwoo's spare coat that was a bit big on him, with mittens and a scarf wrapped around him warmly. He looked adorable, Wonwoo couldn't deny it.

"Nonu, feel like marshmallow." Soonyoung announced, voice muffled by the soft fabric of the scarf.

"A very cute marshmallow." Wonwoo held out his hand. "Ready to go?"

Soonyoung nodded eagerly. "Wanna greet the snow!"

Wonwoo chuckled fondly as they left the apartment. Soonyoung stayed close until their boots crunched in the snow. The little let out an excited noise as well as a gasp. "Pretty!"

"It is." Wonwoo agreed. "Do you want to build something?"

A lightbulb seemed to flash in Soonyoung's mind. He nodded. "Yes, but you gotta turn around, surprise."

Wonwoo smiled, but did as told, busying himself with making little cat shaped snowballs along the wall. A little while and a dozen little snow cats later, Soonyoung finally gave him the okay to turn around. The little held his arms out wide, showcasing his creation.

"Ta-da!"

Next to him was a snow...tiger? Yeah, a snow tiger, Wonwoo realized. It was two tiers and had little ears. Sticks made up the arms and claws and tiny little twigs made up the whiskers. It was very cute and very impressive. Wonwoo was momentarily speechless.

"Nonu like?" Soonyoung asked, suddenly a bit nervous.

"Soonie, it's amazing! You're so talented!" Wonwoo praised.

Soonyoung's cheeks turned pink at the praise. He giggled. "It's a tiger, like Sasha!" He explained. He then noticed Wonwoo's row of cats. He gasped.

"Kitties!"

He admired each of them, patting their tiny heads. "Friends."

"Yeah, friends." Wonwoo repeated. "Like us."

Soonyoung whipped his head around, smile wider and brighter than ever. "I hope we're friends forever like the tiger and wall kitties." He said sincerely.

"Me too, Soonie."
