It’s Christmas Eve! Astra Yao has invited all of her friends over for a celebration of the holiday. Among those invitations, Cassidy, Chip and their New friends, Erica and Artemis are invited to the party. A special time for them to unwind and relax with old friends, new friends, and unexpected visitors. But Cassidy has another mission and that’s giving her gift to a certain Cunning pink-haired young woman. 

(An interlude side-story, taking place after the events of the main story “Raiders of the Storm”. It’s not necessary for you to read the main story, since this is a self-contained story. But it does introduce ideas that will happen in the main story, for example, the romance between Cassidy and Nicole. Either way, go ahead and enjoy this small side story!)

-Janus Quarter, Cassidy Apartment-

Within the apartment complex, inside a familiar room. A young woman sat near her desk as she was working on something intensely. She wore an oversized blue jacket around her form, wearing a small white tank top, peering a little, her core was visible on her chest (Cassidy).

Cassidy wore a headphone over her head as she was working, wrapping a small box up, adding it with a pink ribbon, lightly singing a soft melody to herself, bopping along to the tune through her headphones. 

“Cassidy! Cassidy, hey! Are you there?” A familiar voice called out to her. 

Cassidy didn’t hear as she continued to listen to the melody, putting the final touches to her present.

Unknowest to her, a young woman came inside the room. The young woman had long blonde hair with a mix of blue. She wore a trench jacket and had a cybernetic outfit on her, (Erica). She looks over to the side to find Cassidy at her desk with her headphones on.

Erica rolls her eyes. “Of course, that’s the reason why she can’t hear me.”

Erica strolls over to the treasure hunter side. With one final soft pull, Cassidy had a small grin on her lips as she picked it up. 

“Perfect…”

Once Erica closes the distance, she reaches for her headphones and yells into her ear. “HEY, CASS!”

“GAH!” 

Cassidy screams in fear as she covers her own present from view, snapping her head over her shoulders, she finds Erica with her hands on her hip, looking at Cassidy with a stern stare. 

“Geez! Talk about giving someone a heart-attack! You could have knocked, you know!” She said with an annoyed glare. 

Erica could only blink as she looked at her with a stare. “For your information, I DID knock. But you had your headphones on…”

Cassidy blinked as she looked down at her neck, feeling the headphones around her. “O-Oh…heh…sorry. Guess I was too in the zone…” 

Erica rolls her eyes once more, this time more in a playful manner. She looks at what Cassidy was hiding under her arm. “Are you still working on your present…”

Cassidy smiled. “Yeah, I was just putting the finishing touches to it…” 

Erica looks at the small gift and notices the rather joyous expression on her face. “You…you really do seem excited about going to this party, huh?”

“Of course I am!” Cassidy exploded in a positive ray, her eyes sparkling. “It’s not everyday that I get to go somewhere with fancy, free foods and to be hosted by Astra Yao herself! Not every regular or hollow raider like us gets this opportunity!”

Erica however, had a doubtful look on her face. “Right, it’s for THOSE reasons I suppose…those are the only reasons why you're excited…”

Cassidy blinked as she noticed the look on her face. “Um…I sensed sarcasm in there, you trying to say something…”

Erica could only look the other way with a look. “Don’t misunderstand me, I know that you’ll go for anything that has free food and all…but Cass, don’t you think there’s another reason why you’re excited…” 

Cassidy just blinked as she looked at the young woman with a flat look. Tilting her head in confusion as she was reading her look. “What the hell are you trying to say right now, Erica?”

Erica could only roll her eyes. “Cassidy, I figured that the other reason you're excited is because a certain pink-haired cunning young woman would be there…”

Cassidy blinked twice. Only for her face to flush red. Her mouth and eyes wide as she finally connected the dots, something that Erica was grinning about. 

“W-What!? No way! Come on now! There’s no way THAT’S the only reason! I’m definitely going there for the free food, drinks and friends! Nothing else!”

“Oooh…and I suppose that present isn’t for Nicole then…” She pointed to the present on the desk.

Cassidy snaps her head to the present and back at Erica. Her face is beating red. “S-Shut up! It’s not like I’m confessing my love for her! It’s just…it’s just a present that I picked out for her! You know, a symbol of companionship or what-not! You know, for all the help that she and her friends did for us back in Backwater Holes…”

“Hmm.” 

“I’M SERIOUS HERE!” Cassidy screamed her face crimson red.

“And so am I.”

“Ehna!” (Hey guys!)

The two blink to look down at the familiar gakuen wearing bangboo who was at the door (Chip).

“Ehnena-naa-noo-ehna?” (Are you guys done yet, are we going soon?) 

“Yes. I was just checking up on Cassidy since she wants to make sure that her present for her queen is 100% done.” Erica joked that only caused Cassidy to glare at her with a flushed face. 

“Ehnana-nee-noo?” (You're still not done yet, Cass?) Chip tilted his head.

Cassidy grumbled as she bit her lips. Looking back at the neatly small present. Her heart was thumping against her chest as the core piece on her chest was glowing somewhat brightly at the thought of the pink-haired leader who she came to know during their commission way back. 

“Cassidy?” Erica asked. 

“...hey…do you think…she’ll like it?” 

Erica blinked at the young treasure hunter who wore an uncharacteristically expression on her face. This was one of the few times she saw Cassidy like this. She looks down at Chip who wore a sad expression on her visors. 

The proxy sighs to herself as she scratches the back of her head. “Cassidy…I’m sure she’ll like it.”

Cassidy could only grumble as she ruffled her own hair. “Yeah but…doesn’t it feel like I sort of…half-assed this one. Maybe I should pick a different one…”

“Cass, relax. I’m sure she’ll appreciate the gift.” Erica said once more with a sympathetic smile. “Honestly, it’s not like you to be chickening out at the last minute. You’re usually up and ready for any challenges.”

Cassidy sighs as she leans her head over the chair, her face looking up at the ceiling. “When it comes to fighting ethereals, hunting treasures and beating the shit out of Louis, sure. But this…ugh, I don’t know…I don’t even know how it started honestly. I guess, with all the help from her, the support and just how much of a strong person she is…I guess you could say that started to see her in a different light…”

“Ehna-nana-nee.” (Could it be also the time when you first saw her? I remember the first time you were looking at her body and tried to play it off.) Chip said.

“Oh shut up, you!” Cassidy said with a blush before running her hand through her hair. “I just don’t want this to go to waste…”

“I mean, he isn’t wrong, there is such a thing as, ‘love at first sight’.”

“FINE! MAYBE I’LL ADMIT, SHE’S CERTAINLY PLEASANT TO LOOK AT BUT IF I JUST BASE IT OFF OF THAT IT’S JUST GONNA SOUND SO SHALLOW,” She yelled before toning down and sitting quietly on her chair. She started to fiddle with her hair. “There’s more to her. She’s brave, street smart, sure she can be shrewd, but she’s kind. That extends to her team and her friends…”

Erica set her hand on Cassidy’s shoulders. The treasure hunter looks at her partner who looks back at her with a small smile. 

“You’re worrying too much. Just relax, she’ll appreciate the present and the fact you gave thoughts into it. No need for you to beat around the bush anymore. Just give it to her and see the results, right…”

Cassidy blinked, letting Erica’s words sink in before giving a nod. “Right…you’re right…”

“Good.”

[Excuse me for interrupting.] 

Coming into the room was white and black bangboo with a coat in its form (Artemis). 

[Sorry for the interruption here, but Misaki just texted. Looks like everyone made it to the party and she’s wondering if we were going to come as well.]

“Oh crap, I forgot our invitation would never have happened without my master’s input. Guess we should get going, huh?” Cassidy said with a smile.

“Yes, you're done with everything?”

“Should be. Just um…give a bit before we head out…”

Erica could only let out a playful sigh. “Alright fine, just don’t be slow like a turtle…”

“Oh shut up you…” Cassidy lets out a weak but manageable laugh. 

Erica left the room with the two bangboos towing along. Leaving only Cassidy inside. The young treasure hunter looks back at the box on top of the desk. Her heart thumps against her chest once more. The light from her core shined a little from her shirt. 

“Ugh…why am I getting so nervous? I should be fine, right? I mean, we’re best friends, right? Hell, comrades at the most part. Have each other's backs, looking out for our team, etc, etc. I shouldn’t be too pent up about this…”

The image of Nicole's smiling face entered her realm of thoughts once more. Her emerald green eyes sparkle against the light. Her soft pink hair that was tied in pig tails. Her choice of fashion really showed her personality as a character. But deep down under her appearance…was something far more that Cassidy always admired about her…

Her heart thumped against her chest as she thought more of Nicole. Holding her hand against her chest. 

“We’re just…friends…so why…why am I…I can’t possibly be-!”

*Beep. Beep. Beep.*

Cassidy flinched at the noise. Looking on her desk was her phone as it was ringing. Cassidy exhales as she walks over, looking at the caller ID, her heart thumping once more as she sees a familiar name calling her.

Nicole Demara.

Giving out a huge sigh, she answers. “Hello?”

Nicole: [Oh hey~! You picked it up~!]

Cassidy's heart thumped at a faster pace hearing Nicole’s upbeat voice from the other end.

Nicole: [So hey, where are you? Almost everyone is here and the party is at full swing!]

“O-Oh yeah. Everyone’s there…” Cassidy spoke, trying to ease her nerves.

Nicole: [Well, not everyone, but there are a good amount of familiar faces. Victoria Housekeeping, Belebog Industries, Sons of Calydon, hell, even Section 6 is here as well. Oh, Belle and Wise are here as well~! You and Erica are not here yet, you coming~?]

Cassidy on her end was leaning against the wall, letting Nicole’s voice drift into her ear. She could almost imagine her being here by her side. The familiar sweet fragrance emitting off of the cunning leader. Her lips tickled her own ears. Her bare shoulders touching hers. 

The treasure lets out a soft but satisfying sigh. Unaware that she was still on the phone.

Nicole: [Cass…Cassidy? Yoohoo, Earth to Shadow Raider…]

“Hmm? What?”

Nicole: [...um…you okay, Cass?]

Cassidy took a moment to snap back to reality. When she finds out that she completely blanked out for a moment. A blush flushed her cheeks, shaking her head violently. “GAH! SORRY! I was um…thinking for a moment…”

Nicole: [Thinking…about what?]

Cassidy grumbled to herself. Not wanting to tell Nicole what she was just thinking…

“Knowing her she’ll never let me hear the end of it…”/ “I was just thinking that’s all. I just went through a hollow last week…and the previous weeks to search for some treasures…”

Nicole: [Oh? Are you tired? It’s okay if you don’t have to come…]

“No, no. I can come. I just…just thinking. Nothing for you to be worried about from just a common peasant, Queen Nicole~.” She joked. 

The light joke caused Nicole to stifle out a giggle. 

Nicole: [Why, Lady Cassidy? Have you forgotten your worth to the kingdom of the Cunning Hare. I, Queen Nicole Demara, see you not as a peasant, but a trusted ally~.] 

Cassidy couldn’t help but laugh at Nicole’s acting. “I’ll see you at the party, my lady~.”

Nicole: [And I shall see you at the party, my gallant knight~.] 

Nicole ends the call. 

Cassidy lets out a sigh. Honestly, that chat with Nicole is exactly what she needed. “Maybe I should’ve told her about the gift…nah. Best to keep it as a surprise. Just need to find the right time to give it to her…” 

Cassidy pushes herself off the wall and approaches the desk. Picking up the gift, she puts on a determined smile.

“Showtime…”

-Janus Quarter, Starloop Tower-

Cassidy drove her motorcycle down the road. The cold winter air splashed against her body despite wearing her oversized jacket, all bundled up inside. Erica rode on her back holding her waist. With the two bangboo riding inside the extra seat attached to the motorcycle. 

Cassidy kept her focus on the road, despite Nicole in her thoughts. But she didn’t allow that to bother her as they drove down the road. Reaching their destination as they spotted the huge tower coming into view. 

Finding the parking space, the two got off of the motorcycle. Erica pulled off her helmet, shaking her head as her hair whipped against the cold air. 

Artemis' visor sparkled as she looked at the tower before them. [Oh wow~! It’s even bigger in person!]

“Ehnaa-nee!” (I know, it’s incredible!)

Erica looks amongst the tower with wonder. “Kind of my first time going somewhere rather…extravagant, it amazes me how your master managed to spread the invitation out to us…”

Cassidy offers a grin. “I know, right? Sometimes I just don’t know what that lazy bum is doing behind my back…”

“I can see where your personality stems from…” 

“I’m just gonna take that as a compliment.”

Cassidy looks up at the tower, she reaches into her pockets, feeling the present nestled inside. Her mind traces back to the pink-haired leader. Her affectionate smile. Her soft pink hair that bounces along with her body movement. 

“Cass?”

Cassidy looks over at her partner who wore a worried expression. 

“You okay?”

The treasure hunter didn’t say anything but did took a deep breath. “Good, good…just a little worried…”

Erica sighs to herself as she pats her on the shoulders. “Relax, Cass. You’ll be fine…”

Cassidy gave a soft smile. “Thanks, Erica…okay…let’s roll.”

Exiting out of the elevator, Cassidy, Erica and their bangboo were immediately greeted with a festive atmosphere with soft music being played in the background. A range of party guests were enjoying themselves at the party. Many dressed fancy just for the occasion. 

Both Chip and Artemis were awestruck by the sight. With Artemis leading as both of them strolled off into the same direction. 

“Really fascinating place…but I can’t help but to feel out of place a little…” Erica said with a nervous smile. 

Cassidy rolled her eyes playfully as she playfully shoves her shoulders against Erica’s. “Please, you think you're the only one. I feel just as out of place as you…”

“Heh, I suppose both of us do…then again…” 

Erica looks amongst the room. Upon her eyes she spotted two particular familiar figures who were talking to another familiar figure before the two.

“I suppose with our two proxies here, we shouldn’t feel too out of place…” She said as she gestured over to the two figures. 

Cassidy follows her line of sight before having a wide grin on her face. “Oi, Belle! Wise!” 

The two figures look over to find Cassidy waving at them, Erica giving a small wave. Belle immediately had a wide smile as she rushed over to them, with Wise and Astra following along. 

“Cassidy! Erica! You both made it!” Belle said as she came in with a hug. Throwing herself onto Cassidy.

Cassidy responded with her own hug, a wide smile on her face. “Good to see you as well, Belle.”

Belle jumps off of Cassidy and hugs Erica who gave her a small hug, but was affectionate nonetheless. 

“Hey, Cass and Erica.” Wise said with a more calmer expression. 

“Wise my man. See you're doing good as well…” Cassidy said with a grin. 

Wise could only roll his eyes but smile. “I’m doing fine, Cass. Thanks…” 

Erica waves at Wise before her attention looks at the particular figure. “So you’re Astra, right?”

Astra beamed. “That’s right~! Have you heard about me? Oh why am I even asking, of course you do. Given that you must have seen me on the news.” 

“That…and I saw you in the interview after Armstrong's embarrassing video went live across New Eridu…”

The mentioning of that had Cassidy and Belle almost giggling. Astra had a faint blush, but her expression tells otherwise. “O-Oh…yeah…of course that video. I mean…I wouldn’t say it was bad per say…but definitely not something he wouldn’t want spread around…”

“Guess you could say you became famous for another reason~?” Cassidy teased. 

Astra cleared her throat. Trying to change the topic by force. “A-Anyways! You’re Cassidy and Erica, right? I think this is the first time we met in person. Glad you were able to make it. I know about you two from Misaki.”

Cassidy raised a brow. “Oh yeah?”

“Sure have. I was…um…on this secret treasure hunt the other day with Belle, Wise and Evelyn. But Eve thought of bringing an old friend of hers. That’s how I was introduced to Misaki. She’s definitely a strong hollow raider, pretty impressive honestly. Then she was talking about you two?”

“She was? Um…what did she say to you, if you don’t mind me asking…” Cassidy asked with a curious tone.

Astra taps her finger to her chin with a hum. “Let me remember…oh that’s right! She mentioned how you were her favorite dumb student~!”

Cassidy could only groan at that, ignoring the near laughter from the proxies around her. 

“Wooow~. Not surprised.”

“She also mentioned how you were easy to fool so she always uses that as her source of entertainment. She mentioned how you always lose to her in a sparring match like getting bonked on the head or falling for the old ‘your shoelaces are untied’ and-”

“THANK YOU! I think I got it…” 

Cassidy's face was beaming red as she grumbled. Belle was trying her best to contain her laughter as she slowly drooped to the floor holding herself. Wise and Erica, while on the calmer side, but could hear little chuckling from them. 

Astra couldn’t help but laugh. “I wouldn’t take it THAT bad. That’s just her way of saying she cares about you~.”

“That I know too well, I just wish she would stop treating me like her source of entertainment…”

Astra blinked before a soft smile graced her lips. “But those were just the light jabs. She told me how much she’s proud of how far you came as a hollow raider. Managing to make friends, you even have yourself a cute proxy as she describes it.”

Erica stopped for a moment as a quick blush flushed her cheeks. “CUTE!?” 

“She really meant it that both you and your bangboo are really making your marks out there. And she wants to see how much further you’ll get until you're able to walk side-by-side with her. That's what she said at least…”

Cassidy didn’t say anything but couldn’t help but offer a soft small smile. Belle (getting over her laughter) smiled at the hollow raider, along with Erica and Wise. 

“So um…where is my master…” Cassidy asked.

“She said she was going to invite someone else. Guess there are a couple of old friends of hers she would really love to enjoy the party I guess…”

Cassidy grinned. “Heh, that’s my master. She comes and goes. But I wonder who else is she bringing…”

“Um…did she mention anything about me?” Erica was brought up. “I mean, I barely know her, but…”

“Ah. She mentioned how you're a cute proxy who acts definitely the best when it comes to looking out for Cassidy.”

Erica rolls her eyes as she grins, looking at Cassidy. “Not gonna lie there, she can be a handful.” 

“Oh shut up…”

Belle: But she’s not wrong.

Wise: I agree there.

“Three proxies against you, Cass. I won this round.” Erica joked.

Cassidy grumbled at the expression she was making. “Whatever…”

Astra couldn’t help but laugh at their interactions. “Anyways, Misaki should be back. Glad you two could make it. Go ahead and enjoy the party, because later the closing event will begin. I’m gonna be singing to the crowd. Hope you can stick around~!” 

On that note, Astra leaves with a good-bye wave as she walks off to another location. Leaving the four to themselves. 

Belle had a grin on her face as she playfully jabs Cassidy’s sides. “Soo~, you gonna give your present to Nicole later~?”

Cassidy blushed at her wordings. “W-Wait! H-How did you-!”

“Oh please, Erica keeps us updated on you from time to time.”

“SHE WHAAT!?” 

“It’s usually on occasion when you've gone out for too long she would worry about you. Other times it is if you're doing something to annoy her. Other occasions, it involves your crush on Nicole.” Wise said with a grin. 

Cassidy's mouth was left open as she looked over towards Erica who gave her a flat look.

“Don’t look at me like that, I have to talk to people as well…”

“BUT DON’T TALK TO THEM ABOUT EVERYTHING!” 

“I don’t see the problem. Also, consider it payback for always blabbering away about my secrets that I specifically told you I don’t want out.” She said with a glare.

“THOSE WERE ON ACCIDENTS! I TOLD YOU I WAS SORRY!” 

Erica could roll her eyes as she looked the other way with her arms crossed. “Next time, keep your mouth shut.”

Cassidy sighs to herself as she ruffles the back of her hair. Looking towards Belle. “So um…do you know where Nicole and the others are at?”

Belle's grin returns. “Oh~? Going in for the kill now are we~?”

“Behave yourself, Belle.” Wise said as he rested his hands on Belle’s shoulders. “If you’re looking for Nicole, I think she’s with her team upstairs. I think she was talking with Miyabi last time I saw her…”

“Hm? Miyabi? That’s rare…”

“I mean, it was more of Miyabi wanting to catch up with Nicole, perhaps they're still up there if you're looking for them, they should be upstairs…”

Cassidy nods before she heads for the stairs, she takes a deep breath before looking towards Erica. “Welp, here I go…” 

“Want me to come with you?”

Cassidy ruffles her own hair with a faint blush on her cheeks. “Um…this is kind of dumb of me but…do you think you can help out…”

Erica offers a small smile. “Sure…”

Belle: Good luck~!

Wise: We’ll watch over Artemis and Chip while you're gone.

Cassidy offers a nod before walking with Erica up the stairs. Leaving Belle and Wise to themselves. 

Belle leans towards Wise. “Think she’ll go for it?”

“This is Cassidy we’re talking about here. I’m sure she’ll be fine.” Wise said with a smile.

Wise watches them both go up the stairs, as he looks back at his sister…only to find Belle not by his side. He blinks as he looks around, only to find her sneaking her way behind Cassidy and Erica. Not until he caught up to his sister.

“And where do you think you're going?” Wise asked with a firm stare.

Belle stopped in her tracks as she cautiously looked at her brother. “Heh, b-brother…I-I was just gonna see if Cassidy needs any-”

“Nope. We’re staying here as promised.” 

“Party pooper.” She said with a pout.

Cassidy and Erica walk up the flight of stairs. Cassidy's heart was pounding against her chest, feeling nervous. But she kept moving. 

“Ugh, come on, Cass. Get a hold of yourself! You’re just handing her a present. That’s it!” 

Erica looks at Cassidy, noticing the complex expression on her face. The proxy could only sigh in response. Resting her hand on Cassidy’s shoulders. “Cass, just act natural…”

“I know, I know…tell that to my heart, though…” Cassidy joked lightly despite her nervousness. 

Erica could only lightly chuckle at her. “Then why don’t yell at your heart and tell it to calm down…”

“I tried to do that mentally…it didn’t work.” Cassidy grumbled. 

“Welp, better think fast…” 

They reached the top of the stairs. Cassidy felt butterflies in her stomach as she spotted her target. The familiar female figure who attracted her attention and the source of her heart, Nicole Demara. Surrounded by other familiar figures the rest of her team and at least three of the Section 6 team, Miyabi, Yanagi and Soukaku. 

Cassidy’s eyes were targeted on the cunning hare leader. Despite only seeing the backside of her head. Her heart thumped faster. The core on her chest glows bright.  

“It’s now or never, Cass. Let’s do this.” Erica said with a smile. 

“R-Right…”

Erica started to walk over to the group with a smile. Just as she reached the group. 

“Hey guys.” 

Billy was the first to spot their other proxy friend. “Hey! It’s Erica! You made it!” 

The cyborg rushes over towards her with his arms wide. Erica flinched as she raised her hands in defense. 

“W-Wait! Billy! Do-GAH!” Erica didn’t get the chance to finish before she was crushed with a bear hug by the cyborg. 

“IT’S GREAT TO SEE YOU AGAIN, ERICA! GLAD YOU COULD MAKE IT!” Billy said. 

Erica could feel her bones being nearly crushed, air being squeezed out of her. “G-Gah! It’s good to see you too…B-Billy! Now would you-!”

“GROUP HUG!” 

Out of nowhere, the small blue oni girl joined in the hug as she wrapped her arm around on Erica’s back. 

“S-SOUKAKU!?” 

“NYA! I’m joining too!” Nekomata joined the (fun)? 

“W-WILL YOU…ALL…STOP…H-HUGGING…ME!?” 

Nicole could only cackle at the sight. Anby smiles softly at the scene. Yanagi could only hold her head in shame. Miyabi was complimenting if she should join the hug, but seeing how uncomfortable Erica was at the moment. 

“Okay, okay, Billy. You should stop now before you kill Erica.” Nicole said with a smile.

Billy visors shot open before letting her go. Erica was able to break free from the hug (somewhat with Soukaku and Nekomata on her. 

“Whoops…heh. Sorry about that. I was just glad to see you, that’s all.” Billy said. 

“I’ll say…” Erica said as she caught her breath. 

Soukaku partly breaks from her before smiling up at her. “How’ve you been doing? It’s been so long since we last met!” 

Erica managed a smile as she ruffled Soukaku's hair. “I’ve been doing fine, Soukaku, thank you. And merry christmas by the way.”

“Oh yeah! Merry Christmas to you too!” She said with a smile.

“Nya? Not gonna say merry christmas to me as well~?” Nekomata said with a pout. 

Erica could only look at her with a playful glare. “Yeah, yeah. Thanks for NOT helping me out…”

“Come on, it was a group hug initiated by Billy. How could you refuse it?” 

Erica sighs to herself before smiling. “Merry Christmas, Nekomata…”

The cat thiren tail wagged with a bright smile on her face.

Erica looks up at the rest of them with a smile. “Merry christmas guys…”

Yanagi: Merry Christmas, Erica.

Miyabi: Same to you.

Anby: Merry Christmas.

Nicole: Merry Christmas~.”

As Erica says her piece, Cassidy's eyes were glued on Nicole. Her heart fluttered, with the core piece on her chest glowing rather bright. Focusing on her soft lips that sparkled against the light from above. Her silky, soft pink hair that bounces about from her movement. Her emerald green eyes were hypnotizing to her. 

Nicole noticed Cassidy gaze, the treasure hunter flinched as she averted her gaze. But Nicole knew immediately she was looking at her. A familiar playful grin graced her lips as she strolled over to Cassidy. Once she was close enough, she leaned close to her, causing the treasure hunter to back up a little, her face flushed red.

“What? You’re not gonna greet me~?” Nicole said with a smile.

“U-Um…r-right…merry christmas, Nicole.” She said unsure of how to go on from there since she’s here in the flesh. 

Nicole's grin widened. “What’s wrong, cat got your tongue?” 

“N-No…I’m uh…just a little…cold. Yeah! I was just a little cold on the way here.” Cassidy said with a blush.

“The cold. Yeah that’s it, nya~.” Nekomata snickered from the side. 

Nicole smiled. “Seriously, I imagined you would be warm inside the oversized jacket of yours. Or is the cold air too much for the famous Shadow Raider~.” 

Cassidy chuckled nervously as she rubbed the nape of her neck. “Heh, come on. I’m human anyways. I can get sick from the cold air and get hurt by other things as well.”

“Is that so? Well if you're cold, then how about we do this~?”

Before Cassidy could react, Nicole grabs her hand and pulls into a hug. Wrapping herself around the stiffened treasure hunter. Resting her head on Cassidy’s shoulders with a blissful smile on her face. Cassidy's face was crimson red, her eyes gone wide. 

The team watches the scene with similar expressions. Adding to Cassidy embarrassment as Erica took out her phone and took a picture of the scene before her.

“U-Uh!? N-Nicole!?”

“What's wrong~? Just warming up my favorite treasure hunter. And besides…” Nicole slides her head against her neck as she whispers into her ear. “I bet you like this~.”

Cassidy's heart was thumping faster than she wanted it too. She felt Nicole cold breath in her ears. Her body almost went numb, swallowing her nerves, forcing it down her throat. 

Nicole partly pulled from the hug, her arms still wrapped around her waist as she stared back at Cassidy with a smile. Seeing the stunned look on her face, brought her a source of enjoyment. Leaning near her face, their nose poking at each other. 

“Looks like the ever so vigilant shadow raider can be caught off guard~.” 

Miyabi cleared her throat. “Nicole. I believe you made your point.”

“Oh alright, I was just having fun anyways~.” Nicole said with a smile. “Merry Christmas anyways, Cass.”

“Y-Yeah…merry christmas…kind of came on strong there, don’t you think.”

“Just giving you a warm Christmas welcome.” 

Cassidy took a deep breath before exhaling, smoothing out her jacket. She then greeted the others. 

“Merry Christmas guys…”

“Nya~. Took you long enough to notice us, huh?” Nekomata said with a sly grin.

Cassidy grumbled as she rubbed the base of her neck. “I…it’s not like that if I had your leader wrapped around me.”

“Really, it looked like you were enjoying it?” Soukaku said with an innocent look.

Cassidy's face flushed red. “N-No…I mean…it was…gah…”

Soukaku tilted her head. “Hm? What’s wrong, Cassidy? Are you sick? Your face is all red.” 

Cassidy grumbled as she rubbed the nape of her neck. Trying her best to ignore the snickering from Nekomata and Nicole. 

“Ahem. Soukaku, I think that’s enough now.” Yanagi said with a nervous chuckle.

“Huh? But…”

Yanagi walks up to the small young oni as she rests her hands on her shoulders. “She’s fine, Soukaku, she’s just a little flustered around Nicole, that’s all…”

“...OH! Is it because Cassidy likes Nicole!” 

The tension grew silent. 

Cassidy's face was full flushed red as she grabbed her own face. Erica was trying her best to contain her laughter. Nekomata and Nicole were on the ground holding their stomach, banging their fist on the floor. Anby sighs to herself as she face palms herself. Billy scratched his neck with a nervous laugh. Miyabi could only shake her head with a tired sigh. Yanagi's cheeks were flushed a little.

“Ahem. Soukaku, how about we go to the buffet and get some desserts?” Yanagi said with a smile.

Soukaku's eyes widened. “Desserts! Yeah! Let’s go! Let’s go!”

Soukaku grabs Yanagi's hands as she practically drags her to where they were serving the food down below. Leaving Cassidy, Erica, the Hare and Miyabi. 

Cassidy sighs to herself, feeling greatly embarrassed.

“Apologies for Soukaku, she didn’t mean it.”

“Trust us, we know she didn’t…” Erica said with a soft smile. She walks over and rests her hands on her partner's shoulders. “You okay?”

“You could say that, yeah…” Cassidy said as she ran her hand through her face. Giving them an attempted smile. “Anyways, what have you guys been up to lately?”

Miyabi spoke first. “Nothing much. It’s just been the usual at work. But it's nice to finally get a break every once in a while.” 

“As for the Cunning Hare, we’ve been doing the usual business. Though with Samurai Fox here I don’t think I can disclose that information.”

Miyabi's ear twitched at that as she looked at Nicole. “Hopefully you're not getting into any more trouble now, Nicole.”

“Of course not! The last thing we need is getting into trouble! And beside, even if we do, I always know who to call for help~.” Nicole said as she winked Cassidy.

The treasure hunter cheeks flushed a faint blush. “Hehe…yeah. No worries, me and Erica got your guys back.”

“Oh yeah, while we’re on business talk,” Nicole looks towards Cassidy and Erica. “After the party, can you two come with me and the others somewhere. I have a very important commission to do.”

Cassidy and Erica blinked before exchanging glances at each other before looking at Nicole.

“Hopefully it's nothing illegal.” Erica said. 

Nicole pouts in the proxy direction. “Of course not! It’s super important and it's good will!” 

“Well, either way, sure. We can help out. Not like we got anything important to do later on anyways…”

Nicole smiles brightly at the treasure hunter before throwing herself onto her, hugging her. Surprising the hollow raider. “Thanks, Cass! Just come meet us at the parking lot and we’ll tell you guys there.”

Nicole departed from the hug, once more seeing the flabbergasted look on Cassidy from the unexpecting hug. The cunning leader grinned. 

“Looks like I’m catching you off guard more so than I can count today, Shadow Raider~.” She said as she pokes her nose. “Anyways, I’m pretty sure there are other people who you guys want to go say hello to, so I won’t hold you up…”

“R-Right! There are some other friends who I do want to go say hi to anyways, w-we’ll catch you later, Nicole.”

Cassidy spun on her heels, almost fumbling on herself but regained herself. Walking away from Nicole and the others, with Erica tagging along. 

Once they were in a safe distance, Erica leaned near Cassidy. “You’re not gonna give her the gift?”

“...I’ll give it to her after the commission.”

“Or are you just biding time because you're scared?”

“SHUT UP!” She hissed, her face beating red. “Ugh. It was one thing for her to glomp me out of nowhere like that. I just need to calm down or else my heart is gonna go out of control…and something to calm my core down.”

Erica looks down at the core somewhat hidden in her shirt as it was glowing. “I’m still interested in how that thing works with your emotions as well.” 

“Hmm…I’m not an expert on the technical field or a genius in that regard. But I think it reacts along with my heart in ways. I know it detects ether activity, but honestly that’s it.”

“Either way, I found some familiar faces when we entered, do you think we can go and say hi to them before you take a breather and think of ways of how you’ll give your gift to Nicole.”

Cassidy rolls her eyes in a playful manner. “Yeah, yeah.”

On that note, Cassidy and Erica went around to greet more of their colleagues who were at the party today.

Among them were the Victoria Housekeeping (Lyacon, Alexadrina ‘Rin’, Corin and Ellen). The faction were currently with the Mockingbird Faction (Hugo and Vivian). They greeted the group with warm welcoming. Catching up with each other as Vivian also mentioned that Misaki approached them wanting to confirm about a particular guest who she wants to invite to the party. Cassidy ask about who the guest was, to which Vivian and Hugo shared a glance before replying:

“Someone you know and wouldn’t expect to be at this party…” 

This only confused her more. But didn’t try to pry too hard on the details. 

Next they greeted the Belebog Industries (Koleda, Grace, Ben, And Anton). While greeting them, Erica handed Grace a device, to which she happily accepted. Koleda was a little skeptical on what got Grace so excited, to which she gestured to her of it being a secret project she is working on.

Next ones they greeted were the Criminal Investigation Response Team (Zhu Yuan, Qingy, Seth and Jane). Despite butting heads with Zhu Yuan on occasions (more specifically Cassidy getting in trouble with them) but they were glad that Cassidy and Erica were doing well. Erica promises the team that she would make sure that Cassidy would not get into trouble, though that’s easier said than done.

The duo then went to greet Sons of Calydon (Caesar, Lucy, Burnice, Piper, Lighter, Pulchra and their former leader, Big Daddy). They mentioned Misaki wanting to invite someone else to the party, leaving them unsure of who she meant.

While the hollow raider and the proxy were busy greeting their friends, Chip and Artemis greeted their fellow bangboos. Eous, Amillion, Bling, ButlerBoo and plenty of others they have come across during their time in New Eridu.

Having to meet up with everyone, they casually enjoyed themselves at the party. Cassidy and Erica spent more time with the Cunning Hare. Nicole was using this time as a potential opportunity to discuss some potential business plan.

“Hm? Making a movie?” Erica said. 

“Yeah! Just think about it, we can make a short movie. Doesn’t have to be anything big, we can just make a movie like we did last time…” Nicole said with a bright smile.

Cassidy blinked. “Hold up, you guys had experience making a movie?”

“It was short and low budget, but we did make one…” 

Anby got out her phone as she showed Cassidy and Erica the movie they made. The movie was about a kaiju monster terrorizing the city and a giant warrior defending the city.

From the look of it, it was definitely low budget, the bangboos being the citizens, the green monster being Anby in a monster costume, Nicole wearing a black shirt with blue shorts, carrying a bat and her hair tied in buns.

Erica could only look at the movie with a half-hearted grin, knowing that this movie was definitely made on a low budget. 

Cassidy on the other hand, her eyes were glued to the screen, while she was watching the scene before her, her particular attention was on the pink-haired young woman who was in a completely different outfit that she had not seen before. 

Nicole had a proud smirk on her face. “So, how is it? We definitely have potential in making movies, do we~?”

“Well…you have experience…” Erica said, trying to find the right word for a compliment. “But um…you didn’t try to pitch this movie to any studio, did ya?” 

“Of course we did…but we got rejected.” Nicole said with a pout. 

“Kinda figured…” Erica said. “Movie studio wants a little more professionalism than just…avergae work how they would describe it as.”

“Though it got rejected, it was actually pretty fun making it.” Belle said with a smile.

Nicole smiled. “Right? And it has the potential of making us lots of Dennies! Think about it, we can have this as a premiere movie night, we can provide some snacks for everyone, rent out a venue, so on and so forth!” 

“Calm down, Nicole, I know you're ready to do this, but shouldn’t you take this one at a time…” Wise said.

“Hey, mind as well want to keep hitting the iron while it's hot.” Nicole said with a smile before looking at Erica and Cassidy. “How about it, you guys wanna help out when we do get started with this…”

“Hey yeah, it could be lots of fun with you guys on board! We could come up with new plots and scenes!” Billy said with a smile.

Erica thought for a moment. “I never had experience making a movie before…but I guess it could be fun…how about you Cass?”

“..........”

“Cass?”

Erica noticed that Cassidy's eyes were glued to the screen, when she, Belle, and Anby leaned in to see what she was looking at, they noticed it was paused on Nicole when she was striking a pose. “Holy shit, she makes just about anything look good does she…wait, they mention this being a Kaiju film project, right…a giantess Nicole…” 

Cassidy could imagine a giant Nicole standing before her, dressed in her black shirt and blue shorts, with her fish net stocking on her leg. She could imagine Nicole looking down at her with an imposing and seductive look, winking at her. 

Cassidy's face flared up. “HOLY SHIT THAT’S LITERALLY ONE OF MY TOP FANTASIES THERE!” 

Erica lets out a sigh with a faint blush on her cheeks. Anby gave Cassidy a small smile with a slight playful shake of her head. Belle however, had an idea. Leaning close to Cassidy’s ear. 

“You love the view there, Shadow Raider~?”

Cassidy snaps out of the trance when she hears a familiar teasing voice. She puts the phone down on her lap as she looks at the group who were looking at her. Her face turned red. 

“O-Oh! Sorry! What was the question!?” Cassidy asked. 

Nicole rolled her eyes playfully. “You want to join us on making a movie when we get the chance in the near future. It’s an offer I bet someone like you wouldn’t say ‘no’ to.” 

“O-Oh! Sure, it sounds fun! Oh! How about an action movie with lots of motorcycles driving motorcycles across the Outer Ring and fighting off some gangs!” Cassidy said with an enthusiastic voice.

“You just want an excuse to drive your motorcycle and beat up some random gang member, do you?” Wise asked. 

Cassidy responds with a proud smirk. “Hey, every movie gotta have a good action scenes! Everyone loves actions! It gets the blood pumping. Oh! Actually, can I get the chance to be the main character!” 

“Figured as much…” Erica said with a roll of her eyes.

Nicole thought for a moment. “I have a better idea, how about we both share the lead role…”

Cassidy stopped for a moment before looking at Nicole. “Wait? Both of us?”

“Why not, it’s uncommon for movies to have two lead roles.”

Erica and the others looked at Cassidy with knowing looks as the treasure hunter was lightly blushing at the thought.

“O-Oh…you really think so, huh? Not that I have an issue with it…”

Nekomata looks towards Belle as both had an idea that would definitely get her blood pumping. 

“Hey yeah, that would be a good idea for a movie. The movie can star Cassidy and Nicole as the two main leads, maybe the movie could be an action-romance story.”

Cassidy's hair jumped at the mentioning ‘romance’. 

Belle chimed in. “It’s a story about a young woman (that would be Nicole) who is forced to marry a man she doesn’t love but comes across a biker woman (that you Cass). It was love at first sight, but their arranged marriage got in the way.”

Wise noticed the smirk on Belle’s face as she was leaning towards the flustered Cassidy. 

“Belle…what are you…”

Then out of nowhere, Anby jumped in. “I see it. The two form an unbreakable love between each other and by the end, they share a passionate ki-MMPH!” 

Before Anby could even finish the sentence, to their surprise, the pair of hands that stopped her in her tracks was actually Nicole. The pink-haired woman's face was lit up as a red light, small beads of sweat dripped against her skin. 

“O-O-Okay, Anby! No need to go any further there!” Nicole said.

Belle and Nekomata notice the look on Nicole’s face. But could not let this opportunity slip from them.

“Nya? What’s wrong, Nicole? You don’t like the idea?”

“I-I mean, I don’t mind! But how about we take this slow and steady. It’s not like the idea is going anywhere!” 

“Hmm~? Don’t tell me that we finally caught the Cunning Hare leader off guard.” Belle said with a smile.

Before Belle could tease Nicole further, Wise came around playfully bonking his sister on the head. “Alright, you had your fun. Now tone it down a little, will you.”

“Aww! Come on, we were having fun!” Belle said with a pout. 

“Same goes for you Nekomata! I noticed you were having fun!” Nicole said with an annoyed look on her face, the cat thiren snickered. “And Anby, you didn’t need to join in and finish it.”

“Sorry, but I still think it's a good idea for a movie…”

“Well, it is a good idea for a movie but…” Erica didn’t finish as she nudged over to her partner.

Cassidy's body was frozen stiff, her face was bright red as she was imagining the scene in her head. Them riding on her motorcycle, with Nicole being carried in a bridal style. Driving off into the sunset as the two shared a kiss, ending the movie.

“Cass? You alright?” Billy asked as he waved and snapped his fingers in front of her.

Cassidy flinched. “Gah! Huh!? I-I wasn’t imagining me and Nicole kissing! Nope! Definitely was not!” 

Of course, this did not fare well at all with the way she worded it out. Erica and Wise could only sigh with a shake of her head. Belle and Nekomata tried their best to contain their laughter. Billy was unsure if he should tell Cassidy that the way she worded it out did not help her at all. Nicole on the other hand, face was lightly red, her hand holding her face as steam emitted from her head.

Anby nudged Cassidy’s shoulders. “You do know wording that out doesn’t help you with your case at all.”

“O-Oh…um…ugh, forget it. This is something we should discuss in the near future…” Cassidy said as she lay back against the cushion of her seat.

Cassidy tried her best to ignore the snickering from the blue haired proxy. Her focus couldn’t help but linger a little on Nicole, who was also looking at her. But once the two gaze met, they couldn’t help but look away from each other. 

The hollow raider could feel her heart thumping fast. “Perfect, how the hell am I supposed to give her the present now!” 

Before anyone could break the ice, a scream broke it for them. 

“Whoa! What was that!?” Billy said as he shot up from the chair and got his guns out. 

Belle turns to Wise. “That was Astra scream!” 

The team sprung into action as they headed for the stairs.

Down on the lobby floor. The scene looked to turn from festivities to an intense fight. 

Astra was standing guard as she was behind Evelyn who stood in front her in a protective stance. By her sides were Lyacon and Miyabi who both stood their ground, in front of an all too familiar and yet unexpected visitor. 

Standing before them was the self-proclaimed Hollow Raider King himself, Armstrong. On both his sides were his two high commanding officers, Touka and Ghost Face.

Lyacon held his glare on the pair as he took out his pocket watch. “While it is supposed to be a cheerful holiday. It is a surprise to see you of all people come here to cause trouble. So I warn you, we shall allow you 10 seconds to explain why you’re here and why we should allow you to come here and do as you please.” 

Miyabi didn’t say anything as she held out her blade, ready to unsheathe it.

Armstrong wasn’t fazed as he held up his hands. “Now, now, everyone. Please put down your weapons, we’re not here to cause a fight. We’re here like anyone else. We’re here to enjoy the holiday and were personally invited to the party.”

Touka: Yeah, no need for hostility now. We’re here like everyone else…

Ghost Face didn’t say anything as he nodded. 

Astra: Oh yeah right! I heard that before!

Astra held a glare towards their leader. “You’re possibly here to kidnap me and force me to marry you, right!?”

Armstrong uses his hand to comb his hair back. “Ah, Astra. You look as gorgeous as I remembered. Truly, a stunning beauty.”

Astra growled a little, but Evelyn stood her ground. “Armstrong, I don’t recall inviting you to this party, either leave now or-”

“HEY ASSHOLE!” 

Shouting from the top floor, Armstrong raised a brow as he looked up to find a familiar young woman who jumped into the air and performed a dive kick! Aiming directly for Armstrong’s face. Just as she was inches away from his face-

-Her foot was caught by a pair of hands. 

Standing between Cassidy and Armstrong was a cherry hair mature woman. Cassidy's eyes widened in surprise to find out who was holding her in place.

“M-Master!?”

Misaki looks up at her student with a small smile. “Good evening, my favorite dumb student. And Merry Christmas…”

Cassidy leaps off of her master’s hand, landing on the ground, stumbling for a bit before looking between Misaki and Armstrong.

“Master…what’s going on? And why the hell is Armstrong here!?”

Misaki could only look at Armstrong with a glare. “I told you to wait for me before I sent out the text to Astra and Eve.”

Armstrong could only scoff. “Ha! And wait not to make my grand entrance in front of the beautiful and mystifying Astra Yao!”

Misaki could only sigh in response before gesturing around the room. The team noticed how everyone was on edge. With the majority of the agents present ready to kick him and his team to the curb. 

“In case you haven’t noticed, you literally gave everyone a good scare.” Misaki said with her hands on her hip. “And I wouldn’t stop them from kicking you guys out.”

Touka could only laugh. “They could try if they want, though I hardly doubt anyone in this room could satisfy me…except for a few maybe~.”

The half oni looks at Miyabi before winking at her. Only for Miyabi to unsheathe her blade. “Don’t. Even. Think about it.”

Belle: It really is Armstrong!

Wise: What are you guys doing here!?

By this point, the whole crew came down the stairs onto the lobby floor. The cold quiet field turned into a potential battlefield. 

“Well now, there seems to be a lot of familiar faces here. Such a touching reunion.” Armstrong said with a smirk.

Misaki claps her hands together, getting everyone’s attention. “Okay everyone! Relax! There’s not gonna be any sort of fighting going on here, ya here? It’s Christmas Eve, this is supposed to be a festive holiday, not a fight between heroes and bad guys.”

Astra grumbled a little before resting her hand on Evelyn. “Put your guard down guys. That goes for you too, Eve.”

“Astra…” 

Astra looks towards her guard, a reassuring smile formed on her face. Evelyn could only sigh in response before stepping aside. Miyabi sheaths her sword, but her grip has not left the handle. Lyacon stood his ground but his gaze did not leave his targets. 

Astra walks in front of them, her arms crossed as she glares at Misaki.

“Misaki, I’m rather surprised you went out of your way and invited…these three…”

Misaki could only rub the back of her head with a nervous smile. “Sorry, sorry. I should’ve contacted you earlier. But I was gonna tell you that I would be bringing Armstrong and the other two here for the party.” 

Billy looks back at the group before them. “I mean, I’m surprised that you even went to go and invite them either…”

“I do still consider him as a friend…well, more of an ex-friend, but we still go a long way back.”

Cassidy narrowed her eyes at the leader before looking back at her teacher. “You sure they won’t cause any troubles.”

Before Misaki could answer back, she was interrupted by Armstrong who outstretched her hand. “Be at ease everyone, Skull-Storm will not be causing any sort of trouble for any of you. Besides, it's the holidays, I even gave my team the holiday paid off.” 

“Hm…I never took you to be that type.” Miyabi said as she crossed her arms. 

“Of course! It is the holidays. And besides, it’s not everyday I get to hear Astra sing in her beautiful voice up close. How would I NOT pass up on the opportunity.” He said with sparkles in his eyes. And besides, I even got you a wondrous gift my love.”

Astra blinked as she pointed to herself. “Me?”

“Who else? I hope you appreciate my masterpiece.”

Armstrong snaps his finger. Ghost Face steps in front, sending Evelyn into defense. But what she thought wasn’t a weapon or anything dangerous. In fact, it was a huge canvas that had a painting of Astra with a rather buffed Armstrong with abs and showing his sharp grin. 

The whole room saw the painting, with Astra having a faint blush on her cheeks as she looked at the painting in front of her. Her eyes twitched as a nervous laugh stifled out of her lips. 

“For you…my love.” 

“O-Oh…wow…t-that’s…v-very nice of you.”

Belle leaned in Wise ears. “I feel so bad for Astra right now.”

“Me too, having to deal with this…” 

Cassidy leans in as she looks at the painting before rolling her eyes. “Of course this is how this egotistic maniac would see himself as…” 

Astra cleared her throat. “U-Um…I like…the colors…it’s very vibrant.”

Armstrong chuckled. “Thank you, my love. I have paid very much attention to your beautiful details very closely. You’re charming sparkling eyes, your soft lips, the way how your hair flow in the wind.”

Nekomata: Oh brother…

“And I, of course. The gallant and only knight in your life that will shine your way of your one true ha-”

Cassidy: Done!

Cassidy's voice interrupted the hollow raider as he turned around and found Cassidy in front of the painting. A smile on her face as she looks at Armstrong. 

“I fixed your painting! Tada!” 

Just as Cassidy scooted aside. The room immediately tried their best to hold in their laughter while others sucked in a sharp breath when they realized what Cassidy did to Armstrong painting. 

Touka and Ghost Face exchanged glances before looking at Armstrong who eye twitched with his mouth gaped out open. 

Nothing much was done to Astra, but the painting on himself, his eyes were replaced with googlying like eyes with each of them looking in different directions. And his mouth that once showed the sharp grin was now replaced with an open mouth with a stupid smile and his tongue out. And on his abs was written ‘Louis the Loser’. 

Cassidy had a grin on her face as she watched Armstrong slow reaction. “Look at that. Captured everything about you, Louis.”

And like that. Armstrong grinded his teeth as he snapped his head at Cassidy. His face was building in anger. The flames from his gauntlets emitted steam as they clenched into a fist. The room grew silent as they noticed his rising anger.

Just as he was about to yell at her.

“Nonononononono. You know what. No. You win. Not gonna let this anger me. Not this time. I’m slightly annoyed. Yes. But not angry,” Armstrong said as he cooled himself. “Alright, not gonna get me. Not this time. It’s Christmas Eve, I’m in front of many people here. It was already bad enough with the video, but this. No. Not letting it get to me.”

The participants in the room were left surprised by his sudden change of mood. Thought he was gonna lose it. But chose not to. 

The self-proclaim Hollow raider king combed his hair back. He put back on his smile. “Anyways, glad you appreciated my art, Astra.”

Touka leaned into Ghost Face. “That’s the first, he managed to calm himself down.”

[Without any of our inputs it seems like.] Ghost Face whispered back.

Despite the surprise in dialing back on his temper, Cassidy was somewhat upset at the result but was not disappointed all the way. But before she could congratulate, Armstrong walked near her and whispered…

“I won’t forget this, street rat.” 

Cassidy: Ah, there he is. 

Astra could only sigh to herself as she spins on her heel, facing the guest. “It’s okay everyone! Skull-Storm is our guest! Extended guests, they won’t cause us any harm! Let’s go ahead and continue to enjoy the party!” 

And just like that, the party continues. Everyone enjoys their time amongst each other. Even with Skull-Storm added to the group, despite it being odd, the party went smoothly.

Nicole engages in friendly conversation with Lucy about some potential business ideas. Caesar and Misaki got into a wrestling match with Burnice and Big Daddy in the background cheering for Caesar. The two are evenly matched. Touka shares food with both Anby and Soukaku. While the blue oni was full on board, Anby however, kept her guard but still accepted it either ways. Billy and Lighter were both catching up with each other about the old days back in Sons of Calydon. Lyacon and Hugo were both keeping their distance, but kept their eye on Armstrong who was busy proposing duet song ideas to Astra. The singer desperately tries to escape him and Evelyn keeps on getting in his way. Constantly reminding him to ‘take a hint and go somewhere else’. 

Over on the couch, Pulchra was sleeping on the couch curled up, not without Belle, Nekomata and Cassidy messing with her tail. Wise attempted to lure them away from the thiren. Koleda and Ben were keeping an eye on Grace who took a fascination on Ghost Face who remained still, not being bothered by how she was literally fawning over his overall design and how he works. Miyabi was catching up with Zhu Yuan through friendly conversations. Qingy and Piper were drinking over by the counter. With Harusama, Seth and Jane sitting on the counter.

The party continued all the way towards the end of the main closing event where Astra would gather them towards the performing stage. With everyone taking their seats. 

Armstrong threw a complaint at Misaki for lying about not getting front row seats to see Astra up close. She simply grinned at him, hinting that she may have thrown a small lie in there. Normally, he would fight her for this, but since he promised not to cause any trouble, he restrained himself from doing any damage.

Walking onto the stage, Astra, dawned in her elegant white and black dress as she faces the crowd around her. With her microphone in hand.

[Welcome everyone! Before I start, I would like to thank everyone for coming here today. Today is a very special day where we, as friends, allies…and uh…surprising guests…]

Armstrong: I LOVE YOU ASTRA! YOU WILL BE MY WIFE ONE DAY! AND WE WILL RULE NEW ERIDU!

Astra cleared her throat, ignoring the heat to her cheeks and the comment that Armstrong threw out there. 

[A-Anyways, it's really nice to have met all of you all! Never thought that I would get the opportunity to make many friends! This isn’t always a chance that someone famous as me gets, but I really do appreciate it.]

Armstrong: I’LL THROW MY WHOLE HEART OUT TO YOU MY LOVE!

Cassidy: NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS LOUIS!

Nekomata: GO BACK IN YOUR BASEMENT NERD!

Armstrong: STAY OUT OF THIS!

[Ahem. So before someone gets thrown out for constantly, but passionately, but also very annoyingly throwing me compliments. Allow me to sing you a song I wrote for you all…and yes also you, Armstrong.]

She heard a small but satisfied squeal off to the side (she assumed it was Armstrong as she subtly rolled her eyes). 

The lights dimmed out. Music played around the audience, her voice, as angelic as ever, emitted from the speakers. The lyrics reached the audience's ears and their hearts. A warm and soft feeling bounced within all of them. Especially Armstrong who had to contain himself from bursting out from his seat. 

The event closed on a positive note. With everyone turning in for the day. With a few exceptions, Armstrong had to be carried back by Ghost Face. The leader refuses to leave until he gets an autograph from Astra. To which Touka manages to get but isn’t gonna give it to their boss until they get home.

Erica and Cassidy were seen bidding their farewell to Phaeton siblings. With Artemis and Chip saying goodbye to Eous respectively as well.

“That sure was fun. It was nice getting back together with everyone.”

“Yeah, it sure was.” Erica said with a smile. “Anyways, we shouldn’t be taking up more of your guys' time. Me and Cassidy need to go help the Cunning Hare with a commission.”

“Uh oh. Don’t like the sound of that, hope its something legal.” Wise said.

Cassidy only shrugged with a smile. “Who knows, but we agreed to help either ways. If its something that requires me to beat some heads in, then expect us to get done by at least…10 seconds.”

Belle smirked. “Uh-huh. Sure. When Nicole asks for a favor, you wouldn’t dare say no~.”

Cassidy scratches her cheeks with her one finger as she looks the other way with annoyed frown. “Geez, don’t make it sound like that. You make it sound like I have a personal favorite…”

Belle nodded her head in a rhythmic style. “Sure, sure~. Make sure you give her your present, you hear?”

“Ugh, yeah, yeah. I got it, I got it. Sheesh, don’t sound like my master now…”

And just out of nowhere, an arm swung around Cassidy’s neck and pulled her into a hug. Speak of the devil, Misaki appears before her with a huge grin.

“Uh-oh! Do I hear my dumb student making comments about me!” Misaki said.

“Ehnna!” (Good evening, Master!) Chip said with a happy expression. 

Misaki happily waved at everyone as she let go of Cassidy. “But Belle’s right, remember to give her the present. Don’t want this opportunity to go to waste now, do ya?”

Cassidy could only blink as she looked the other way with a frown. “I’ll admit…I’m a little scared of what she will think. I mean, I don’t think she’s picky with what present she gets, but I don’t want to go half-assing this either way…”

“Relax, you seem to know Nicole pretty well, so picking out a present shouldn’t be much of a challenge.” Wise said with a smile. “You won’t get another chance like this, Cass. You might as well go all in since you made it this far.”

“He’s right,” Erica said as she looked at her partner. “The present you picked out is good. Just act natural and you’ll be fine.”

Cassidy looks at her friends and her master around her. Taking a deep breath, she looks amongst them with a smile.

“Right, I’ll go for it. But um…I’ll do it after the commission.” Cassidy said with a grin.

Erica rolled her eyes as she looked towards the other. “I’ll keep an eye on her. I’ll update you guys later.” 

Chip: Ehnaa-nuh-naa! (And you can count on me as usual!)

Artemis: [Count me in as well.]

The Phaeton sibling smiled. “Welp, we better head home. Good luck and Merry Christmas!” Belle said.

“Merry Christmas you guys…” Wise said.

“Better head out as well, good luck with her and Merry Christmas!” Misaki said as she waved them goodbye.

Leaving only them and their bangboos. 

Erica turns to Cassidy. “Alright, let's head over to the Hares then. You ready…”

Cassidy took a deep breath. “Yup.”

They walked over to the Hares' cars, Cassidy noticed how Billy was rummaging in the back of the car. What looks to be a huge sack. Growing more curious about the commission that Nicole requested, the small team heads over. 

“Alright, Boss! Everything is good to go!” Billy gave the thumbs up.

“Good, now all we just need to do is to-oh! Here you all are!” Nicole said with a surprise smile. 

Cassidy and Erica waved at them. 

“So, what’s the commission again, I do hope you remember that-” 

Before Erica could say anything. Billy wrapped his arms around her with a friendly tone. “Relax, relax! It’s nothing illegal! We promise. In fact, Boss does this on a regular basis every Christmas. You’re gonna be in for a surprise of what it is!” 

Nicole cleared her throat. “Billy, don’t go leaking information out like that for free. Especially in public.” 

“Whoops, sorry boss…”

Cassidy glances back at Erica with a confused look before looking back at Nicole. “Sooo, what’s the commission…”

Nicole simply smiled as she walked up to Cassidy. Just as she was inches away, she leans towards her and pokes her on the nose. “You’ll find out…”

On that note, Cassidy, Erica and their bangboos head out on their motorcycle and follow the Hares as they drive off into the city.

-New Eridu, Orphanage-

It was a good minute drive as they drove down the street into the cold night. 

Cassidy's focus was on the car ahead of them, but the only thing that was distracting her was the thumping of her heart. That feeling in her heart that she truly hated, but doesn’t make a complaint about. 

Until their car came to a stop, Cassidy parked behind Nicole’s. The two look up to find themself in front of a particular building. Reading the sign.

New Eridu Orphanage

“An orphanage…what are we…” Cassidy asked. 

“Hey, come on!” 

Cassidy looks back at Nicole as they were all grabbing out a pair of bags that seemed to have different stuff inside of them. Four pairs of bags it seems. 

Cassidy rushes over to help out Nicole. “You need help with that?”

“Hm? Oh, no worries. It’s not that heavy. But if you want you can walk with me up to the door.” She said with a smile.

Cassidy nods as they both walk up the steps. Erica and the two bangboos help the others with their bags, walking to the doorsteps. 

Cassidy took the moment to look around the place. She could see snowmans that were made, amongst them were poor creations of bangboos, while she found 4 familiar snow creations. She recognized all of them from just their design.

The one with headphones and has a green scarf, Anby. The one with the spiky hair wearing a red scarf is Billy. The one with cat ears and what looks to be two sticks on the back is Nekomata. And the last one was a dead give away as it sported two pink wigs and wore a pink scarf around its neck, being Nicole.

“Woow~! They’re getting better with their creation!” Nekomata said. 

“I’ll say! I look so cool as a snowman…hm? Nekomata, what are you…” Billy notices the cat thiren walks up to the snowman.

Her twin tails swaying happily in motion before a small smirk graced her lips. She took the opportunity to bring out her single nail and left a single scratch mark on snowman Billy’s face.

“There we go, nya~!”

“GAH! MY FACE!” Billy cried. 

Erica: Billy you do know it’s just a snowman?

“BUT STILL THOUGH!” 

Nicole rolled her eyes as she was already at the steps with Cassidy. “Oh calm down will ya. Now come on.”

Nicole rang the doorbell. A motherly voice could be heard from the other side. Approaching the door. Opening the door, they are greeted by a mature looking woman with short strawberry hair tied in a bun on the back of her head. She wore a jacket with some sweatpants. 

“Hello…oh my! Nicole and the Cunning Hare!” The mature woman said with a smile.

Nicole smiled with a wave. “Heya, Ms. Charlotte. Merry Christmas!” 

The pink-haired young woman rushed in to give her a hug to which Charlotte happily welcomed with a huge smile. Cassidy blinks with a curious look as she watches them interact.

“It’s been a while, I wasn’t expecting you to visit…” Charlotte said with a smile.

“Oh please, it’s Christmas, of course I’ll come visit. I even brought some presents.” Nicole said as she presented the bag of stuff she had in her possession. 

Opening the bag, Cassidy took notice of the toys inside, some looking as if they had not been opened yet or they were recently brought. 

“Oh Nicole, you always give out so much to these little ones.”

“Heh, just making sure they stay positive and well…” Nicole said with a bit of a somber tone in there to which Cassidy caught.

Anby and the others reached the steps as they walked inside. Greeting the mature woman.

“Anby, its good to see you well and healthy.” She hugged the green clad warrior to which she responded back by hugging her too. Parting ways from her as she looks up at Billy. “And Billy, it's so good to see you as well.”

Billy was just about to get emotional. “Ooh, Charlotte! It’s good to see you as well!” 

Just before Billy was about to go in for a major bone crushing hug, he received a slight slap on the face from Nicole, reminding him to ease up on his hug. Rubbing the back of his head with a slight chuckle, he reaches in gently and hugs her to which Charlotte accepts. 

“It’s good to see you too, Billy.”

“Don’t forget about me, nya!” Nekomata squeezed her in the hug on the side, surprising the woman.

“Oh, of course how could I forget about you, sweetie~.” She said with a smile as she ruffled Nekomata's head. 

Having to greet them all, she finally took notice of the two newer friends, Cassidy and Erica. “And who are these two?”

“Oh! Their friends of ours. We know them from work. This is Cassidy and this is Erica.”

“Yo…” Cassidy raised her hand with a smile.

“Good evening.” Erica greeted me.

Nicole then gestures over to the two bangboos. “And these are their bangboos. Chip and Artemis.”

“Ehnna!” (Merry Christmas!)

[Merry Christmas and good evening as well.]

“Oh my, you made some nice friends here.” She said with a bright smile.

“Sure did. And potential companions as well.”

“Well then, it’s nice to see Nicole and the Hare make many friends. Thank you for looking out for her.” She smiled at them both.

Cassidy ruffled the back of her head with a nervous grin. “Oh no ma’am. It’s the least we can do…”/ “Why the hell am I getting nervous again…it’s not like this is her mom or anything…” 

Young girl: Ms. Nicole!

Nicole hears a voice, only to feel herself almost losing balance when something caught her leg. Looking down, she finds a little girl hugging her leg before looking up at her with a smile.

“Ooh! Is that little Kimi I see~? Why it is~!” The little girl (Kimi) departed from the hug to allow Nicole to kneel down in front of her with a smile. “How are you doing?”

“I’ve been doing good! I didn’t know you were coming!” Kimi said with a smile. 

Nicole smiled as she ruffled her hair. “Of course I would come since its Christmas…”

Young Boy: Hey! It’s Ms. Nicole and the Hare!

Shorter Boy: Ms. Nicole, Anby and the others are here!

By this point, nearly all the kids came barging in towards the hallway, crowding them. Cassidy and Erica were caught off guard by the amount of kids that surrounded them. 

“Well, this certainly was unexpected…” Erica leans towards Cassidy.

“I know, she knows this many kids…more importantly, she and the others come here most often…” Cassidy whispered back.

Kimi: Are you Nicole’s friends?

Cassidy squeaked a little with a bit of jump, finding Kimi next to her with curious expressions. Getting over her earlier stumbler, she kneels next to the young girl with a smile. 

“Yeah, we’re Nicole’s friends. I’m Cassidy. This is my partner here, Erica.”

Erica waved with a smile. 

Cassidy then directs her attention to the bangboos. “These are our bangboo companions. This is Chip and that’s Artemis.”

“Ehnna!” (Hello!) Chip said, waving at the girl.

[Good evening.] Artemis bowed.

Kimi got a good look at Chip's overall clothing. Noting how it was dressed like a delinquent, despite the overall look and tone of the bangboo.

“I like your clothing, Chip.” She said with a smile.

“Ehna-nuh-nana!” (Thank you, that’s very kind of you! Though I’m supposed to look intimidating, as Cassidy would think.)

Cassidy rolled eyes as she playfully bonked her bangboo on the head. “Don’t go complaining, it at least builds your courage, doesn’t it?” 

[Cassidy does make a point, Chip. I would certainly say it does bring up your courage.] Artemis said.

“Wow! You’re bangboo talking in human language.” Kimi said with a surprised expression as her attention was on Erica’s bangboo.

“Oh, yeah. She does. She’s a very special type of bangboo honestly. Learning to speak human language.” Erica said.

[Indeed, little one. But I can also speak in bangboo language as well. I just find it easier to speak in this language…]

Kimi was fascinated by the bangboos.

“See you getting chumming over here with my friends…” Nicole said as she sneaked her way over, throwing an arm around Cassidy's neck. “These guys are my friends, we met while on the job.” 

Kimi held out a hand to Cassidy with a smile. “Nice to meet you all. It’s nice that your getting along with Nicole and the Hares.”

A smile graced Cassidy’s lips as she shook Kimi’s hand. “Yeah, of course…”

Young Boy: Nicole and the Hares brought more stuff!

Shorter Boy: I wanna see! Ah, is this the new starlight Knight figure!?

Billy: Sure is kid! This one is special, it's even signed by Astra Yao herself!

Nicole stifles a laugh as she looks towards Cassidy with a smile. “Come on, help me pass out these donations.” 

Cassidy returned the smile as she, Erica and their bangboo went to work.

The rest of the day went out as one would expect. Passing out the donated goods to the kids. From clothes, toys and even canned foods that were recently brought. 

After a while, Cassidy, Erica, the bangboos and the Hares spent some time with the kids at the orphanage. Watching movies with them. The kids showed their drawing skills to show how much they have improved. Played a couple of games, hide-and-seek and duck-duck-goose. 

The night went by towards midnight and the kids were all out of energy. Ready to hit the sack. Calling it a day. Nicole and friends all helped put some of the kids who were all out like a light in their beds. Making sure they were tucked in and bid their quiet farewell.

Charlotte had a small smile on her face as she looked towards the group. “Thank you so much for coming, Nicole.” 

Nicole returned the smile. “It’s no trouble. I’m just glad they're doing good, that's all.” 

“This world that we live in…it’s not everyday we get kind folks like you guys. These kids deserve a future where they don’t have to live in fear, be happy, pursue their dreams. We shouldn’t have to live like this…”

The Hare, with Cassidy and Erica included, all wore somber expressions. Knowing full well what she is talking about. 

Cassidy looked amongst the group as she pushed a smile on her face. “Hey, come everyone, cheer up. It’s Christmas. There will be no sad faces on this special day!”

Cassidy was only met with silence between them all. Hoping to at least get an answer from someone or a reaction. The young treasure hunter was starting to feel a little self conscious, trying to hide the core on her chest as it was glowing rather bright from her embarrassment. 

“Y-Yeah…so…no sad faces…”

Nicole broke the silence as she chuckled at Cassidy’s reaction.

“Is that seriously the best speech you got?”

Cassidy grumbled. “I was…trying to cheer everyone up…”

“I appreciate the effort.” Anby said with a thumbs up.

“I sure as hell don’t feel proud of myself though.” Cassidy muttered.

“Not the first time you embarrassed yourself…” Erica pointed out bluntly. 

Cassidy: Oi!

At that point, the whole team (including Charlotta) laughed at Cassidy's expense. Not what the treasure hunter had in mind, but it did break the ice, making her smile just a little. 

“Anyways, we should possibly get going now, kind of getting late.” Nicole said with a smile. 

“You all take care now. And have a wonderful Christmas.” Charlotta said with a smile.

As they exited the building. The Hare were in front of Cassidy, Erica and their bangboos.

“Ah man, I’m tired. Think its about time we call it a day.” Billy said as he stretched. 

“I’m gonna be sleeping like a rock.” Nekomata said with a yawn. 

“A rock cat.” Anby joked.

“Nya! The hell is even that!?” The cat thiren said as she looked over her shoulders at the green clad soldier.

Nicole rolls her eyes as she looks back at the two. “Anyways, thanks for the help you two.”

“It’s no problem, I was just honestly surprised to see that from you, really?” Erica said with a curious tone.

Nicole couldn’t help but to pout at the way she sounded. “Hey, don’t go making assumptions now, not like I had enough of that.”

She turns around, her hair swayed as she looks up at the night sky. 

“The kids at this orphanage…they have a whole future ahead of them. But in this timeline that we’re in…it can be pretty scary for them to face what’s ahead. Hey, can you guys keep a promise…”

She faced them with a sympathetic frown. “Can you guys not spread this out to anyone about me donating to the orphanage?” 

“Sure, but why? Don’t like your soft side showing?” Erica asked.

“It’s not more of that, but it's…I’m scared of my enemies using these kids as my weakness just to get one up on me. If anything happens to these little ones…I don’t know how I’ll live with that guilt…”

The small group let Nicole words sink in. While they have known her being softer than most would say, seeing this side of Nicole was new to them. Especially Cassidy, who has admired her from afar and has managed to get close to her during their time with each other.

Cassidy makes a small smile. “Oi, oi, what’s with all the worrying.”

“Huh?”

“The Nicole I know wouldn’t allow anyone to push her around like that. If anything, you would swing that briefcase of yours across their face, giving them the good ol’ Nicole wake up call. Hell, if you just give us a call and we’ll make sure no guys will give these kids hell!” Cassidy said with a wide grin. 

Erica could only shake her head but her small smile did not disappear. Chip and Artemis make out a soft chuckle. The Hares heard from a distance and all had similar expressions. Nicole blinked but couldn’t help but smile at the treasure hunter. 

“Thanks guys…anyways, I shouldn’t take up your guys' time. I’m sure you have other things to do. I’ll be-”

“Nicole.”

Nicole stopped talking as Cassidy spoke up. Catching her attention. Erica looks at her partner with a soft smile. From the gate entrance, the Hares watched the scene.

“Cass?”

Cassidy raises her head, her eyes locked onto her emerald ones. She then walks up towards the pink-haired young woman. Stopping a good inch from her. Cassidy’s heart raced a good miles per hour. Her cheeks heating up that matched Nicole as she was surprised how close she got. Small puffs of air clouds could be seen in the cold air between them. Breathing softly from their lips. 

Cassidy reached into her pocket and handed Nicole a small wrapped box. The cunning Hare leader looks at the gift that was presented to her, a small gasp escaping her lips, small faint air clouds emitting from her mouth. 

Cassidy took a deep breath before speaking. “M-Merry Christmas…”

Nicole slowly but surely took the small present, grasping it in her hand. Both of their hearts are racing. Unsure of what to say next.

Cassidy's face was bright red as she ruffled her own hair. “U-Um…you don’t have to open it now. Y-You can open when you-”

“I’m opening it.”

Cassidy stopped, her eyes looked back at Nicole as they were now serious, but the way she was looking at Cass. Her heart paced fast, the core on her chest was reacting. 

Nicole untied the ribbon and tore the small wrapping off and opened the box, she blinked. The present revealed to be a pink hair clip with a cherry blossom design on it. Neatly sealed in a small plastic wrapper. 

Nicole was left rather stunned. 

“Y-You don’t like it, do you?” Cassidy asked out of concern.

“No…I love it. I just…wasn’t expecting something like this from ya? You sure this is the Shadow Raider, Cassidy I’m speaking to~?” Nicole said with a wink. 

Cassidy blushed as she looked the other way. “Geez, cut me some slack will ya. Sure, I’ll admit, I can be dumb but I’m not an idiot. I was…I was just thinking of what goes well with you or what you like?”

“Oh~? Well, don’t be so worried. I’m not the picky type. I think this gift is a pretty good choice.”

“Really, cool. I was having a hard time picking this out, I mean, your already quite the looker, very beautiful, charming and-”

Cassidy stopped herself when she realized what she was saying in front of Nicole. Looking at the cunning leader whose cheeks were flushed with a faint red color as she looked right at Cassidy and her alone. 

Cassidy’s face matched hers before screaming in her head. “N-NO! THAT’S NOT WHAT I MEANT! I MEAN I STILL THINK YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL BUT I-GAH! NO! DAMN IT! WHAT I MEAN TO SAY IS! GUH! I’M GLAD YOU LIKE THE PRESENT SO MERRY CHRISTMAS!” 

The treasure hunter threw the hood over her head as she avoided Nicole’s gaze. Trying her best to hide her own face from the Cunning Hare leader. Grumbling to herself, wishing that she could go back and time and stop herself from saying that. Mentally imagining herself appearing right on time to shut herself up from saying something like that.

“Ugh. What I mean to say is…consider it as a thank you gift…for everything you’ve done for me…and I hope we can continue our partnership in the near future.”/”And…I hope to remain by your side longer…” The last part she thought to herself with a blush.

“How do I look?”

“Huh?” 

Cassidy slowly looks up to find Nicole with the cherry blossom hair. The pink color definitely matches her pink hair and aesthetic alone. The treasure hunter's full gaze was now on Nicole who presented herself in front of her. Breathless, she looks at the young woman before her…

“Whoa…”

“Hello? Is that all you got to say~?” Nicole said with a smirk.

“Definitely goes well with you, My Queen~.” She joked, though still a little flustered. 

Nicole laughed along with her. “Says the person who picked it out…but really…thank you.”

Cassidy smiled brightly at her. 

“Now then,” Nicole causally took a step towards Cassidy as she closed the gap between them. Their faces are practically inches away from each other. Cassidy blushed as Nicole closed the gap between them. “Guess I should give you a present in return, should I?”

“H-Huh? What do you-”

Cassidy's mouth was immediately sealed when Nicole closed it with her own lips. Giving her a kiss on the lips. 

Erica watched with a soft smile. Artemis was blocking Chip’s view, telling him how ‘it's inappropriate for children like him’ despite the protest from Chip. Anby had a soft smile on her face, matching Erica. Nekomata and Billy gave double thumb ups to both their boss and Cassidy. 

Cassidy on the other hand, her face was bright red. Her hair flared up with the non-existence wind as she was standing on her heels. 

Nicole parted away softly, her face inches from Cassidy. Her pink hair softly brushes and rests on Cassidy’s shoulders. Her emerald eyes locked onto Cass’s brown eyes. 

“N-Nicole…” Cassidy said with a stutter, her face still red.

Nicole simply smiled. Leaning her face closer to Cassidy before their forehead met. Her arms wrapped around Cassidy’s waist and brought her into a hug. “Merry Christmas, Cass~.” 

Cassidy's body was frozen, stiff as a board with a slight tremble. Her face beating red as her eyes began to swirl. A slight mumble from her lips. 

Nicole noticed her expression. “Cassidy?”

And just like that. Cassidy squealed in a high pitch tone before falling unconscious in Nicole’s arms. 

“Ah! Cass!?” 

Erica: Oh great…

The team rushed to Nicole's side to check on their friend who passed out. Her face was flushed with a faint red, steam emitting from her head as small beads of sweat rolled against her skin. On her face, she wore what looked to be a satisfied expression.

“U-Um…is she alright?” Billy asked.

Before any of them could answer, they hear a slight mumble from Cassidy. Leaning in closer, they hear quiet words.

“Best…Christmas gift…ever.”

“...yeah she’s fine.” Erica said as she rolled her eyes.

The team released a laugh with each other. Meanwhile, Cassidy passed out in Nicole’s arms with the most satisfied expression as she was whisked away in a blissful dream under the winter night. But the cold didn’t bother her as she was in the warmth embrace of her potential lover's arms.

And that’s a wrap! A somewhat short but fluffy romance story that centers on Cassidy giving her gift to Nicole and her admitting her feelings for her. Sealing the relationship between the two, what more awaits them? Perhaps another tale to tell in the near future.

Just something I felt like writing while also introducing an idea I had for the main story. You could say the romance between Cassidy and Nicole was teased in the main story with Chapter 1 and later it was played with later onward. The biggest hint is Cassidy's behavior around her, this could be seen as Cassidy just being friendly, but also could be her wanting to be close to Nicole as well. 

As mentioned, this story is more of a self-contained side story, so you don’t need to read the main story “Raiders of the Storm” to get what’s going on. But if you want the (somewhat) full experience, then go ahead and read the main story. But this, you can just enjoy the fluffy, slice of life, romance story this offers.
