Chapter Text
Years Ago
"This is a prosperous day for the lands of Buayoi!" laughed the ruler of Pingmuang.
"Thank you for your wishes!" grinned King Kittisak Buayoi in return of the good wishes he received while glancing down at his beaming grandson who was placed in a cradle in which he played around with the rattle by kicking it while it made noise, the maidservants fanned over him as he kept giggling over the noises, the whole banquet churned with laughter as everyone fell in love with the grandson's cuteness.
As if on cue, the two kings excused themselves as they carried their conversation to privacy.
"It saddens me that we weren't able to join hands through marriage with our children, Kittisak", Suppadet gently places an arm over Kittisak's shoulder as he sighs with disappointment.
"It truly does, this has not just been our wishes but also our parents' and grandparents', every generation we hope to be allies but fate fails us... We've only been blessed with either sons or daughters in the same generation..."
"I really do hope Keng can marry, who I hope is your grand-daughter that your daughter-in-law is carrying, Suppadet," Kittisak gives nothing but a small grin in addition to his hopes.
"I really do," Suppadet's eyes softened as they fell onto the ground.
Around a Year Later
The hospital's waiting room had nothing but thick silence embracing it, the only sounds that could be heard vividly were clocks' hands moving millimeter by millimeter while the footsteps of Suppadet Pingmuang and Kittisak Buayoi, the two great rulers of prosperous kingdoms of Pingmuang and Buayoi, respectively, hushed as they paced across the room, restlessly.
To add more to the panic and unease they felt, it had been too long since the Crown Princess of the Pingmuang Kingdom had gone into labour inside the ER. The small droplets of rain that fell upon the glass windows of the hospital that looked upon the cityscape of the lands of Pingmuang were blurred as they waited in the VIP Waiting Area, which felt small and tight and suddenly as the red signage of the ER board dims slowly till it completely switches off, the heaviness that paced in the room with them, stood completely still, time had stopped for a few seconds as the two Kings impatiently ran towards the ER's door, waiting for the doctors to come out and give them the good news.
"We have some amazing news!" The doctor who had just come out of the operation room beamed as soon as he saw Suppadet Pingmuang side by side with Kittisak Buayoi, who matched the tenseness of Suppadet when it wasn't even his kingdom's heir.
"Don't waste time, tell us quickly," hastened Suppadet.
"Well, both the mother and the baby are safe..." started off the doctor.
"Is it a girl?"
"Uh... well, of course not! Congratulations, Your Majesty! It is A BOY!" the doctor laughed as he shared the news with Suppadet and Kittisak, whose smiles had fallen when they heard the news.
"I guess... we wouldn't be alive when our kingdoms are finally allies, right?" Kittisak wistfully asks, as the silence in the air hangs heavier, but not heavier than their dismay.
