Divergent 2.0

Summary:

Beatrice is sixteen which means soon she’ll have to choose her own faction.
However she begins to doubt she belongs more than usual.

Leaving Abnegation means accepting she is not like her family and can't live that life.

But staying feels just as wrong, and even if she denies it-staying feels worse and unlivable.

This one choice will define her the rest of her life, and more secrets to be found.

Notes:

I am rewriting the entire series.

The characters are going to be different and am changing a lot of the story.

What remains the same is the factions and how the world currently works

But anything else is changed entirely.

(And character descriptions changed a bit for other characters it is a lot)

Also it is in third person ominiscent.

Chapter 1: Hair cut

Chapter Text

In a dull coloured home is a room upstairs, in it is a closet door and a chair.

Dull blonde hair falls circling the chair. Sitting on the chair is a girl, her body shaped like a rectangle and grey eyes.

The last time she looked at a mirror her hair was up to her shoulder.

Glancing at her mother she sees light blue eyes looming back at her with a kind smile.

Her mother has the ideal body and face.

Hourglass body, wavy dark blonde hair in a bun, heart shaped face.

Her name is Natalie.

However no one will see her body shape hidden under the long grey dress, modesty is important to Abnegation.

The girl bites her lip. If she chooses a different faction what would it be? How would her family react?

“Beatrice what is wrong?”

Beatrice leans into Natalie’s hand as she brushes her dull blonde hair “Do you think I’ll fit in my faction?”

Clang.

The girl's grey eyes go to the table to her left where the scissors are.

The only sounds heard is the whistling wind going past trees ruffling their leaves and their breaths.

She furrows her brow.

Breaths out of sync, not controlled or slow. The soft white light-as soothing as it may be doesn’t help either.

Her breaths don’t calm down even as she counts.

Until she hears her mother’s melodic voice.

“Take a deep breath Beatrice”.

Natalie makes her way to the sliding panel while Beatrice takes in deep breaths, as deeply as she can.

Her grey eyes widened. What is her mom doing?

“Mom? Why are you going against the rules?”

It wasn’t the choosing ceremony yet. So why would her mom risk it?

Natalie smiles going behind Beatrice and hugs her neck “You are strong and beautiful Beatrice”.

Her hand brushes Beatrice’s hair putting strands of hair behind her ear.

“When you look in the mirror, no matter how you look or change you’ll always be my daughter and I’ll always love you. No matter the faction or circumstance”.

The girl smiles holding her mom’s hand looking at their reflections in the mirror.

Her grip loosens seeing a sad look in her mother’s eyes.

Nathalie’s blue eyes fixed on her neck.

She looks at Beatrice again with a tight smile. “It will be hard to let go of your old habits in your new faction, but try to get used to it”.

She nods, standing up and hugging her mom. “I’ll make you proud”.

Natalie kisses the top of her head whispering “I know you will”.

They let go and the grey eyed girl rushes downstairs.
