Chris didn’t know how he got here. Yesterday, he’d come back from yet another mission against a biohazard abomination. Today, he filed his report, attended a meeting, got multiple pats on the shoulder, and received eyes full of appreciation and admiration. But at the end of the day, he found himself hollow—sitting in whatever club this was, on a bar chair, his first shot already almost empty .
Still, he didn’t know why he was here .
