Work Header

rollercoaster, hot chocolate and a cute snowman

Summary:

It's slow. The boy is trying not to damage the costume's head, moving his hair to the sides, sweat falling from his forehead. Dongmin senses his ears reddening at it, especially at the boy's big sparkling eyes now facing him. "Oh, it's you." The stranger says with shaky breath- he must have been suffocating inside of it, which, for Dongmin's bad luck, is stupidly hot.

Or, Dongmin has never celebrated Christmas.

Work Text:

Dongmin's family was traditional in every aspect, especially during holidays, which meant no Christmas or Secret Santa. However, it wasn't a big deal for him; he had lived without it for 19 years, or that's how he had managed until now.

It all began with the couple's excitement to go to one of the most famous Christmas parks, which, for Dongmin, was the worst plan he could imagine. The constant flicker of the colorful lights blinded him at every step, and the costumes were cheesier than the other.

If this is what Christmas meant, it was a total nightmare.

What's worse, the three of them were now in the queue for one of its highest roller coasters. "I'm gonna throw up." Nice, now Jaehyun will puke on him, Dongmin expects. Sanghyuk, instead, reassures the other with a soft kiss on his cheek, a lovely act that almost sends Dongmin to the devil.

The situation lingers until a voice gets him out of the misery, a lighter tone coming from a snowman's costume. "If you two become brave enough to get in, I'll bring you candies!" It could have been a sweet moment, but it ended right after the kids rejected the snowman's offer, the enormous face glancing around, trying to avoid the situation, which Dongmin couldn't help but giggle at.

"What's so funny?" Sanghyuk asks, leaning forward.

They're close to the ride's entrance when it happens, the queue movements bringing them closer to the snowman's presence. "Nothing." He covers his mouth, avoiding eye contact with whoever is under the costume, afraid they might have spotted him laughing.

Then, when they finally make it inside, he feels the snowman's stare on him. It shouldn't matter; he can't see the stranger's face either way, but a part of him wants to know more.

The ride after that is horrendous; every fall leaves him trembling, screaming, and rethinking his own existence over and over. Although for Jaehyun, it becomes a perfect excuse to hang in Sanghyuk's arms more tightly.

Sickening, that's what Dongmin thinks right after landing. His head is spinning, blinding him on the spot. After that, he can't recall anything else.

"I shouldn't have forced you to go, I'm sorry, Dongmin-ah." The apology fades when Dongmin grows aware of their surroundings. They're in the park's costume room.

That's where he sees the snowman again, now lifting the enormous head off.

"I guess it is." There's no actual bite to it; it just gains a conflicted look from the couple. "If you just wanted to flirt, you should have told us sooner before fainting," Sanghyuk says, biting his cheek. The mischievous look on the stranger's face makes it worse, embarrassing him wholly.

"It's not — I don't faint just because." Dongmin rubs his neck, avoiding the boy's stare.

"Right, you hate Christmas anyway." Jaehyun's answer seems to catch the stranger's attention, now leaning closer to their orbit.

"You hate Christmas?"

"No, I just don't celebrate it at home." A sigh. "I'm no Grinch or whatsoever, for God's sake." Dongmin narrows with a pout forming on his lips as he watches the stranger lean even closer, hands touching the bed's edges. It makes him shiver.

"So, no gifts?" Dongmin nods, and the other giggles, moving abruptly to his locker. Dongmin thinks he's a lunatic. "Should I wrap myself in a ribbon then?" The stranger winks at him; it almost feels like a musical act. Jaehyun instead laughs, loud and teasing, at Dongmin's face, now fully red.

"Right? Give me your number, snowman, make this poor guy celebrate Christmas for once."

A year later, he's celebrating Christmas with a snowman — he means Woonhak, who has made both hot chocolate with marshmallows to drink in their matching My Chemical Romance cups. (Dongmin's idea)

"There you go." He grabs the cup with care, slightly touching the younger boy's fingers.

It should be familiar by now, but the sudden touch still flutters inside his stomach as if it were the first, and the vague TV lighting doesn't help either, making the boy look even cozier. "Cute," Dongmin mutters as he cuddles into Woonhak's inviting embrace.

He then feels a kiss on his head, lifting it towards the other after. "You still haven't gifted yourself to me, though, was it blackmail?" There's a teasing tone to it. "You laughed at me after those kids rejected my candies and then flirted with me, so who's the one blackmailing?" Dongmin pouts, as he always does, and Woonhak just laughs, acting clueless to the boy's reaction.

"Be more thankful to your boyfriend; it's Christmas, remember?" Woonhak's fingers tangle in his bangs, parting them to the sides. "Sure, Grinch." He should be mad, bite his fingers, or talk back, but he doesn't; he lets Woonhak stare — with those dumb sparkling eyes he has every time they're together.

"I will, though, close your eyes." He lets it happen, even if it's dumb or cheesy; he closes them anyway. There's a pause, a slight movement until Woonhak speaks again. "Open." A solid view of Woonhak's head adorned with a ribbon appears in front of him; it's endearing in the most embarrassing way possible.

"So cheesy." His red ears say the opposite. "Cheesy? You're the one who won't stop groping my butt." Woonhak answers, making both laugh. "Fuck you." He tries to move Woonhak's face away, but the other arches closer with purpose, making the other fall onto the couch.

"The cup—" The other moves the cup to the table after giving himself space on top of him. "You're ungrateful, not even caring about your gifts." Dongmin giggles; he can't help laughing at the boy's expression. "You're laughing again!" Woonhak whines at it — actual whines — with an angry expression as he tries not to stare at the other boy's lips altogether.

"Am I? You're funny to tease." He pokes Woonhak's cheeks. "You will never get bored, won't you?" Cute, cute, cute, Dongmin thinks. "I like it though." He pauses, now looking at him. "The teasing, I mean, you look… your eyes, I like it." It's almost like a confession, Woonhak's tone lowering as he speaks.

"You do?" Dongmin is now aware of their closeness, how Woonhak's breath clings to his neck. "Yeah." It's a vague answer, almost inaudible when he feels the boy's fingers in his jaw. — Taking his time to watch Dongmin's reaction as he caresses his waist with the other palm.

It's not their first kiss, not even the third, but the way Woonhak closes the distance feels new, kissing him with purpose as he does with everything — without shyness, just as firm as his hunger. He kisses him as if he were trying to memorize Dongmin's mouth shape and taste.

"Woonhak.. what's gotten into you?" Dongmin whines, almost tripping over his words. "You," It's in that moment that Dongmin realizes how their relationship has grown. Woonhak isn't hesitant anymore, afraid of making the other uncomfortable, of being too much.

He had always wanted him like this, and now, after three months of dating, Dongmin lets him because he had wished this as well.

"Unwrap me." There's a playful grin on Woonhak's lips, tracing the ribbon on his head. He does, unwrapping it with care as their shaky breaths match. "Idiot." Dongmin dips his head to kiss him again, tongue pressing into his mouth. It's rough, almost bruising, but it doesn't stop Woonhak from melting into it.

He thinks of Woonhak's taste, how the marshmallows contrast with his tongue, all sweet and vicious. He also recalls their first kiss, shy in every edge they had grown into, and clumsy as they have always been. — Overall, he loves kissing Woonhak too much.

It gets sloppier as they slow the pace, maintaining the contact just to stay on the other's lips. It's cute that both can't seem to get enough. It's everything he had ever wanted.

When they finally part, Woonhak's pupils are blown wide, looking right at their connected saliva. It's intimate, an erotic sight Dongmin will cherish at night because he's greedy, and Woonhak lets him be.

"Merry Christmas," Dongmin says, even if it feels weird on his tongue, even if he hasn't grown up with it.

"Merry Christmas," Woonhak smiles, warmth all over his features as he hugs the other with care because he means it; he had wanted to show what Christmas was all about to Dongmin, or maybe it's just an excuse to hug him tighter at night.

Either way, Dongmin has learned to love Christmas thanks to a very cute snowman.
