Work Text:
you walked up to castiel as he was sitting in the chair at the war room table, sam, dean and jack already got their presents from you, but of course you wouldn’t forget about him.
“and last but not least.” you placed the gift box in front of him with a super excited smile.
“i know you don’t sleep so i couldn’t get you pyjamas nor do you eat so no pb&j sandwiches… so i figured i’d just make something myself… you know, from the heart.” you explained.
gifting castiel things was indeed a huge challenge considering he’s an angel that needs no sleep and no food.
you bought dean some well aged scotch – shocker.
sam got a bunch of new books he had on his wishlist.
and jack earned a whole dvd collection of ‘the lord of the rings’ and ‘the hobbit’ trilogies.
castiel looked up at you with soft eyes, he didn’t expect to get anything, let alone someone make him something by hand.
“go on, open it.” you grinned, stepping back to give him some personal space.
castiel carefully took the bow apart and then slowly opened the box to reveal a handmade crotchet sweater.
“tadaaaa..” you sang softly, “it’s blue, to match your eyes.. and i added some honeybees since you like to watch them, oh and–“ you were suddenly interrupted by castiel’s tight hug.
his embrace engulfed you, it was strong, it was honest, never in the million’s of years did he ever get such a thoughtful gift, “thank you..” he whispered, his eyes watering from pure gratitude.
after a moment, he pulled away. jack couldn’t help but smile, feeling castiel’s happiness radiate out into the universe.
castiel took off his trench coat and hanged it on his chair, taking the sweater out of the box and carefully slipping into it as if it’s the most sacred thing he’s touched. because it was. for him at least.
“it’s beautiful..” he spoke with a warm smile that reached his eyes, a rare sight for you. “..and so thoughtful. i shall cherish it forever.”
“glad you like it, cas.” you grinned at him, feeling super happy and proud that he liked the gift you worked so hard on.
“i love it.” cas corrected you, his fingers brushing against the soft wool-like material.
