Chapter Text
Timmy had his headphones plugged in, blaring some loud music while he sat on his bed. His parents were on vacation for a week, starting today, which was a Saturday. This was a great thing for Timmy, because he was at home, free to do whatever, as long as his parents didn’t find out. Even if they did, he never gave that much of a damn whether they found out or not, but when they didn’t, things were better.
He was thinking of maybe hosting a party or something, but nobody would come because almost everyone at school thinks he’s a loser.
Then as he was thinking more about what in god’s name to do, he got up from his bed and started pacing around his room.
The blonde then had a lightbulb go off in his head after a minute or two.
”I can hang out with that Spencer kid! He’s probably not busy with anything.”
Timmy then turned on his computer and opened a chat that had Kevin in it, since they’d been talking occasionally on there.
He pulled out the chair sat in it, looking at the screen. He moved his hands to the keyboard, clicking the keys and typing out a message.
”Yo, Kevin, wanna hang out? My parents are gone so you won’t have to deal with those assholes. We can steal the drinks from their alcohol cabinet.”
He knew not to expect Kevin to answer for a bit, as he was probably passed out in his room from drinking, but who knows. He could be on the computer right now for some reason.
He was hoping he’d get an answer soon, because after around 10 minutes, the message had no answer.
He knew he probably should’ve just asked in person. Too late now.
Then he actually got a response!
”shur, im aut uv booze nd ur parentz have gud stuf”
The blonde looked at the poorly typed text and was happy Kevin never turned down free booze, or else he’d definitely not have a yes.
He then typed a response.
”ok, try and get here soon”
Timmy was, for some reason, really excited to see his friend again. He decided the reason was that Kevin was one of the few people that actually talked to him besides maybe some hacker friends he made on the internet, and he needed some social interaction.
Timmy plugged his headphones while he waited before he heard something rattling from outside his window.
He could smell Kevin’s cigarette that was in his mouth, and knew it was Kevin going up the latter he put outside his window.
When Kevin plopped down onto the carpet floor of Timmy’s bedroom, Timmy laughed a little.
”Spencer, you know you could come through the front door, right? My parents aren’t home, you idiot!”
Kevin sat up and flipped him off. He didn’t much like being called names, and his “friend” (he didn’t really consider Timmy much of a friend) calling him an idiot was no exception to that. He wanted to punch him, but decided not to on account his arm kinda hurt from the fall into his bedroom.
”Come on, I have some video games we can play on the couch. I’ll grab some bottles from the cabinet. Sorry for laughing at you and all that.”
Timmy hoped Kevin would accept his apology. Though he knew he probably wouldn’t.
Kevin’s expression of annoyance softened a bit, but he still looked a bit irritated. Timmy decided this meant he somewhat took the apology. Who knows? It was certainly hard to tell what Kevin’s actions would ever really mean, he was pretty unpredictable.
Timmy grabbed some bottles from the cabinet and Kevin was already headed to the couch, sitting down comfortably.
Timmy came inside the room and sat beside Kevin.
”Here, man.” He handed a bottle to the sociopath.
Kevin quickly pulled it out of Timmy’s hand and unscrewed the cap, chugging half of it in one go.
”Damn, Spencer! How do you drink so much?”
Kevin said that he’d been drinking since he was 7 years old, so his tolerance was pretty high.
”Makes sense. Let me get the video game ready…it should be pretty fun.”
Timmy turned on the console and handed a controller to Kevin and grabbed one for himself.
The game was a random fighting game that was a cheap knockoff of Mortal Combat.
When they started playing, Kevin liked it because of the bloodiness and competiveness of it.
”Having fun, Spencer? This round I’ll totally beat you, I’ve been going easy on you!”
Timmy was in fact, not going easy, and actually just sucked at the game despite playing it for longer than Kevin.
He then tried to make an excuse when Kevin beat him for the 3rd time in a row.
“Aw come on! You totally cheated!”
Kevin looked at Timmy and told him to fuck off and stop being a sore loser, before taking another swig of alcohol.
“Sorry, dude. I just wanted to seem cool in front of you.”
Kevin seemed apathetic to the apology that he was given. But then he thought about what Timmy said again. Did Timmy really just say he wanted to be “cool” in front of him?
Did this mean Kevin was “cooler” than Timmy somehow? He wasn’t sure if that was the case or not, but the thought of him being seen as “cool” was something that seemed like a distant fantasy for Kevin.
For some reason, Timmy seemed a bit sad that Kevin seemed to not really care much about him, despite knowing he never really did care for him, or anyone for that matter. Then he saw Kevin smiling a bit and got a little concerned.
”Dude, what are you smiling for? I never see you smile.”
Kevin asked if Timmy thought he was cool. It didn’t mean as much if Timmy thought so, but if someone did at all, it was a good thing to know.
”I mean, I guess? I feel like a loser next to you sometimes, you’re able to just…not care a lot…I don’t know.”
Kevin was confused but decided it was “yes” enough for him and that lifted his mood.
Kevin then asked Timmy if he saw Kevin as a friend. He never had a friend besides Allen before and since he already asked Timmy if he thought he was cool, he wanted to push the limits and see if maybe he could make a friend since he’d been a bit lucky with the answer he was given.
”I mean…yeah? I never knew if you considered me as your friend, so I never really called you it? If you want me to, I’d consider you my friend…I guess?” Timmy awkwardly responded.
Kevin smiled even more. An actual friend? Sure, Timmy pissed him off a lot, but if he has a friend, he can maybe be seen as cool by others…but he wasn’t so sure about that part since people thought Timmy was a loser. In fact…it’d probably worsen his chances of that. But he decided to shrug it off because he decided having a real friend other than Allen was pretty cool.
But Allen didn’t like that too much.
