Chapter Text
Today was a great day for all the toons. Not Bassie. Today she had seen Cocoa get so much love and attention. She didn't hate Cocoa, she was just jealous that a side character got more attention than a main character. She decided to take a ride on the train(which only went around the building and not in public) to clear her head.
Astro was also on the train at the moment when Bassie walked on. Bassie always looked gloomy, but Astro felt this time was different. Her dreams were also a little… off. It seemed Bassie didn't notice Astro on the train and walked to a different seat. He heard Bassie mutter something under her breath but couldn't really make out what she was saying. Then, he thought of something nice. He would go to Bassie's room after the train ride to check up on how she's doing! :)
It seemed the train ride lasted a few seconds, but really it was about 15 minutes. There was a lot on Bassie's mind the past month. She was just tired all the time. Every day is like a spiral going around and around. When she exited the train, she heard Cocoa call her name. “Bassiee!” Oh, it was her. “Oh, hello Cocoa! What do you need?” “I just wanted to give you this BonBon I made for you! I tried making it to your liking… I heard you like strawberries!” Bassie's eyes sparkled at her gift. This meant so, so much to her. “Thank you so much Cocoa! I love this!” She genuinely smiled for the first time today. Then, when Cocoa hopped away, her smile faded at the thought:
Cocoa was so much BETTER than her.
The dedication to make this BonBon for her, even though it was a temporary thing. Cocoa was always so nice to everybody. She walked to her toon room while eating this BonBon. “This is really tasty!” Bassie said to herself.
Another reason Cocoa was better than her.
She stepped into her room and looked in her drawer for a sharp item. Anything. Nothing was here. She thought about asking Scraps for a pair of scissors. She wouldn't mind, right? She stepped out of her room only to be surprised by Astro standing outside. “Ah! Hello! What brings you here? :)” “Oh, just here to check on you. Your dreams have been kinda…” “Don't go snooping around in my dreams!” Bassie yelled “...” “...sorry for yelling” “It's alright.” Astro said, then walked away.
Bassie then walked to the Craft Siblings’ room and knocked on the door. “Goob, go answer thatt!” Scraps yelled. “Nooo! Lets do rock paper scissors!!!” Goob stomped his feet. “We don't have time for this, I'll answer.” Scraps said, sounding annoyed. “Hello what do you- BASSIE! Heyaaa!!” “Hi, ummm can I borrow some scissors? I'm making some Easter crafts…” “Of course! Let me just get them from my cabinet!” Scraps joyfully said. She skipped into her room and came out a few seconds later. “Here you go! Bring it back by tomorrow?” “Oh! Yeah! Thanks!” Bassie said, taking the scissors. I suppose she'd have to steal a knife later. Bassie walked away to her room, every step becoming heavier until her legs felt like lead. It was tiring to just walk anymore. She wanted to stay in bed forever and let time march on. After entering the room, she locked the door. Couldn't have anyone walking in.
She reached her bed and held the scissors. She lifted up her skirt and pressed the scissors to her thigh. The pain was comforting. The cool metal felt good against her skin.
She cut more
A little too much but she could hide it under her skirt.
Bassie wiped the ichor as much as she could and bandaged it up(she got the bandages when she injured herself while trying to make BonBons with Cocoa and had extra). She then lay in her bed and cried herself to sleep.
She woke up. She didn't even know when she did, and she didn't care. But it seemed there was commotion outside, so she supposed she would get out of bed…
Ouch.
Her legs still felt like lead. Plus, she lost all her energy when she sat up. Bassie just felt chained to the bed. She had to get up though. She had to return those scissors she had borrowed from Scraps. So, she dragged herself to the bathroom outside her room and washed off the scissors and tried to make the bandages less noticeable by tugging on her skirt a little. Then, Bassie walked to the Craft Siblings’ room and knocked. Most of the time, she wasn't paying attention to what Scraps was saying and returned the scissors. “Thanks!” Scraps said, and went back to her paper crafts. Bassie walked to the Gardenview tree and sat there to look at the main lobby.
Astro had just exited his room from a nice sleep :3. He noticed Bassie, except she just looked like a hollow husk of her former self, just sitting looking nowhere. Astro walked up to Bassie and tapped her on the shoulder. Bassie flinched and looked at Astro. “Oh, hi there, you scared me…” Bassie's voice trailed off slowly as she said that, kind of like uncertainty. “Are you okay?” Astro asked.
It was the first time anyone had ever said that(directly) to her.
“You’re the first toon to ask that to me…” Bassie said, and put her head down. “But yeah, I'm alright, I just didn't sleep much last night.” She hoped Astro didn't snoop in her dreams. “You should get some sleep then.” Astro calmly said(as usual). “I'm not tired. I'll just sleep tonight(we all know that's a lie gng)” Bassie said. She shifted her position and her skirt lifted for just a moment. But a moment was enough for Astro. He suddenly had the answer to all the questions he had been wondering about Bassie.
“Bassie, why do you have bandages on your thigh?”
