"Toya."
A nudge to the shoulder.
"Toyaaaa..."
He nudges again, harder. It seems as though Akito had gotten bored studying. Who would've guessed?
"Yes?" Now, Toya didn't mean to sound rude. He wasn't sure he did. Sometimes his words came out wrong, you know?
Anyways.
"I'm bored."
Toya looked to his right. There, a sulking Akito lay atop his bed. He had this awfully cute pout on his face that Toya just wanted to kiss away, and his face was cupped in his hands, propping himself up by the elbows.
"We still have..." Toya checked the timer he had set. It was originally set for 2 hours, but it only had 6 minutes left. "Oh. Six minutes. Can you wait for six minutes?" Toya had this slightly quizzical, slightly fond look on his face that Akito wanted to kiss away.
Akito spoke again, his mouth opening in a cute pouty way that Toya really wanted to kiss. "Theoretically..." A sigh. "Partner, you're really gonna make me wait all that time? So long..."
"Well, good thing it's only five minutes now." A groan from Akito. Toya just fondly smiled.
"Stop lookin' at me like that, man..." Akito turns his face to the side, blushing. He hopes Toya doesn't notice. He does.
"Like what?" Toya leaned back, closer to Akito. This was all a bit... strange, for Toya. His reasoning? He had read a romance novel late last night, and got inspired by the main character. Who was not at all like him. (Well, besides being gay as hell.)
"Like... that. Like sunshine shines outta my ass or something." Akito's almost fully blushing now. 5 minutes and 24 seconds remain on the timer. Toya looks fully puzzled now.
"...What?" Toya tilts his head to the side, like a cat. Akito lets out a fond giggle, just a second long, before he can stop himself. Toya now looks even more puzzled.
"Ugh, never mind. Read that in a book somewhere. Just... c'mere." Akito sits up, now cross-legged on the bed. Toya scooted towards him, silently and still slightly questioning. Rain patters the window. Where did that even come from? It was only cloudy earlier... Toya tapping Akito's cheek startles him out of his thoughts. "Ah, sorry."
Toya shakes his head, accompanied with a small "No worries."
Akito brings his face up to Toya's. He pauses.
Now, they've only been dating for, what, a month? (Yes, the best month of both their lives, but still.) Things are bound to be awkward. Right? Right. So it's totally normal for it to be awkward. Akito hopes.
Toya, like the godsend he is, does not register Akito’s internal turmoil and just… kisses him. Just like that. Just leans forward and… kisses Akito.
Akito, yet again off in his own world, is brought back by the feeling of Toya’s lips on his. His eyes shoot open, then close. Because it’s weird to have your eyes open while kissing. Right? That’s what Google says, and he trusts it. Mostly.
Akito kisses back, getting more used to the fairly new feeling quickly. He cups Toya’s face with his hand and tilts his head a bit so their noses stop bumping. After what feels like a minute and an hour, Toya pulls back. Even if it was just for 58 seconds – yes, he counted, so what? – they’re both lightly panting.
“I- Was… was that okay?” Toya tentatively asks.
“Uh- yeah. Yes. Can we do that again?” Akito is flustered. Like, flustered flustered. Like, red in the cheeks and avoiding eye contact flustered. (And, honestly? So is Toya. Maybe even more.)
Since Toya seems to be frozen in place, Akito takes the initiative. He leaves forward and captures Toya’s lips in a gentle kiss. Less surprising than before, and much sweeter. This time, Akito takes the time to savor and really taste Toya. He tastes like coffee grounds, but with an undertone of something sweeter. The opposite can be said for Akito, as he tastes like sugar. (Toya recalls Akito offhandedly mentioning a cafe he went to earlier in the day that had opened recently.)
Akito moved his free hand to the nape of Toya’s neck, where his split blue hair met his skin. He ran his fingers through the soft strands, relishing in the feeling of Toya pleasedly leaning closer. In turn, Toya moved the hand that was previously holding him up on the bed to Akito’s waist. He can feel the small threads of Akito’s school button-up under his fingers, which are splayed out on the dip of Akito’s waist and gripping ever so slightly.
Sadly, they do have to breathe sometime soon, and Toya’s lung capacity was running out. Toya, yet again, reluctantly pulls back. He opens his eyes to see a very red Akito. They’re both softly panting.
At the same time, the timer goes off. The boys are both startled, and Toya silences it on instinct. They share a look, both fairly flustered. Akito breaks into a smile.
“Jesus Christ, dude.” Akito’s hands slump down to Toya’s side, and he drops his head on Toya’s shoulder. He starts laughing. Yet again, Toya is puzzled.
“What?” Toya puts a hand on Akito’s head, gently toying with the orange strands.
“Nothing, nothing, just…” Akito picks his head up to look at Toya. He has a cute scrunch in his eyes from smiling. “That was not like you. Like, at all. Where’d you learn to take initiative like that?” Akito asks, amused. He hadn’t expected Toya to kiss him first, as he was almost always the one to initiate physical contact. Their hugs, their kisses, even sitting together, all initiated by Akito. It made sense, as Akito has always been the touchier, more physical one, even since middle school.
“Well… I did sort of act.” Akito looks puzzled, so he continues. “A novel I read. The main character was like that to the love interest. More… direct. And… impulsive? I wanted to be like him, so I tried. Did it seem strange?” Toya seems to be more nervous now.
“Hah, of course not. It was… interesting. To see you act like that.” Akito waits for a response. When he doesn’t get one, he waves a hand in front of Toya’s face. “Toya? Partner? You there?” That seems to wake him up.
“Ah, yes, sorry. Just thinking. …What do you mean by ‘interesting’?”
Akito pauses to think, making a face. “It’s not really like you. You’re more… ask-y. Is that a word?” He looks back up at Toya, looking into his eyes.
“It is not. Are you thinking of hesitant?”
“Probably. Anyways, you’re not… impulsive like that. You know?” Akito moves to sit next to Toya on the bed, instead of across from him. He pulls them both to lay down, and faces Toya. It’s around 6, so the sun is just beginning to set. The warming light spills through Toya’s opened curtains.
“I suppose so. Am I too hesitant?” Toya looks concerned.
“I don’t think so. Maybe hesitant isn’t the right word. You’re just… Toya.” Akito looks back into Toya’s eyes. His gaze is filled with fondness, his eyes softening when they land on his eyes, his nose, his mole. He loves his partner. He really does.
Over the months, they become closer and closer. At this point, they’ve been dating for at least 6 months. Yet again, the boys are studying. They’ve decided to work at Akito’s house, as Ena will be out with Mizuki for the night, so she won’t bother them. They’re sitting on the ground, worksheets spread across Akito’s coffee table in his room. Akito suddenly slumps down to his arms and groans.
“Toyaaa…” Akito looks up, just barely, at Toya.
“Bored?” Toya asks with a slightly amused lilt to his voice.
“Yes. Why do I have to learn math, anyways? I’m gonna be a performer, I don’t need that shit.”
“You do, though. You’ll need addition to calculate the total time of a set list you’ve put together.” Toya looks down at his partner, a soft smile morphing his lips.
“Calculator.” Akito closes his eyes, retorting back to Toya without looking.
“...Hm. Well, we’re almost done. You just have to finish those last two problems and you’re done.” Toya points under Akito to his almost fully completed worksheet, filled with scrawled out numbers. The frequency of scratched-out chucks dwindle by the end, as Akito starts getting a hang of the problems.
“...Fuckin’ trigonometry…” Akito grumbles, yet he pushes himself back up to sit to finish it. 10 grueling minutes later, the worksheet is completed. Akito throws his arms up in success. “YES!! Finally, my god.”
Toya just smiles and takes the page to look for mistakes. He finds none that haven’t already been corrected. “No mistakes. Good job, Aki.”
Akito grins like a child who’s just won an award. Although, completing a math page with no mistakes is basically like winning an award for Akito. He gets up just to collapse back on his bed, slightly bouncing up from flopping down so quickly. Toya gets up to join him, opting to sit on the bed with his legs hanging off.
Akito looks up to Toya and mischievously smiles. Before Toya can even raise an eyebrow, Akito pulls him down and wraps an arm around Toya’s neck. Ever so quickly, he presses a quick peck to Toya’s lips. Toya finds himself already melting into the warmth of just a peck, and pulls Akito back to kiss him again.
Toya closes his eyes gently and slowly, savoring the taste and feel of the kiss. Yet again, Akito tastes like almost straight sugar. Despite not liking sweets, Toya developed a certain liking for Akito's taste. For Akito, Toya tastes like straight coffee beans, as usual. How somebody can taste like they’re made of pure coffee constantly, he will never know. All he does know is that he loves it, especially and only on Toya.
Akito slips his tongue into Toya’s mouth, ever so slightly pushing against Toya’s tongue. Toya moves so he’s hovering over Akito and runs a hand through the side of Akito’s hair. In turn, Akito wraps his arms around Toya’s waist, pulling him down to fully lay on top of him.
They’re sort of moving back-and-forth, pushing harder and lighter against each other. Eventually, Toya breaks to breathe, and Akito kisses his forehead. After barely a pause, Akito lifts Toya’s head back up by the chin to capture his lips in another kiss. Toya melts into it just as fast, Akito immediately opening back up his lips to let Toya’s tongue in. He pushes against Akito’s, moving a hand to his side and cupping his cheek with his other hand.
Akito’s barely in control anymore, moving his tongue and lips almost automatically. He’s drowning in the sensation of his partner, his Toya, kissing him so fiercely. Toya can feel Akito’s blissed out smile on his lips.
The only feeling between the boys right now is love. Love for the other, for the moment, for everything they’ve done for each other. Both Akito and Toya could ramble about the other for hours. Hell, it’s pretty much the only thing Akito does.
Unfortunately, that wonderful feeling bursts when an annoyed “ahem” has come from the doorway. Toya pulls away from Akito at lightning speed, jumping from the sudden interruption. Ena is standing at the doorway, an amused Mizuki behind her.
“...Ena, get out.” Akito’s looking straight at her, Toya still on top of him. Akito props himself up on his elbows so he can see the door. Mizuki grins from where she stands behind Ena.
“Lil’ Bro!! Ahh, look, he’s growing up so fast…” Mizuki pretends to shed a tear and wipe it away with her finger. She places her hand over her heart. Akito rolls his eyes. Despite seeming annoyed and bothered, he’s oh, so embarrassed. Both him and Toya have bright red faces, courtesy of making out with your boyfriend and being walked in on.
“Akiyama, politely, shut up. Ena, get out.”
“Chill, Akito. I just wanted to ask if you have my charger, but it seems you’re busy.” Ena says sing-songily.
“Why would I have your charger? It’s my room, I have my own chargers. And yes, I’m busy, so will you get out?” Akito basically snarls at Ena.
“Jeez, I’m going, I’m going. C’mon, Mizuki. Bye, Toya!” Ena walks off, Mizuki following close behind. Thank God, Mizuki closes the door (with a wink, of course). Bless her. Akito drops back down to his back and sighs. Toya is still on top of him, processing everything that had just happened.
“Ugh. Little bitch…” Akito sighs. He looks up at Toya, noticing the blank expression (and frankly adorable blush) on Toya’s face “...Dude? You good?”
That seems to snap Toya out of it. “I cannot believe you just made out with me, got walked in on and proceeded to call me dude.”
Akito lets out a short laugh. “Sorry, du- ah… sorry, love. Better?”
This seems to pull on Toya’s heart. Just months ago, he dreamed of Akito even barely reciprocating his feelings. Now, it’s real. He didn't realize he dreamily sighed until Akito looked at him funny.
"What?" Toya cocked his head.
Akito responds by pecking the tip of Toya's nose. "You sighed all sweet-soundin' and had this cute smile on your face. I had to."
"Mm, I see. Well, if you had to, I suppose it's alright."
"Then I have to do this." Akito suddenly peppered kisses all over Toya's face, and when he came back up to pause, Toya had an adorable blush dusting his cheeks and the cutest fucking smile. Lord, Toya was going to kill him one of these days. Akito admired his partner before Toya tapped on his cheek.
"Aki? You okay?" He seemed to be worried, but Akito had just spaced out.
"Huh? Oh, I'm fine. Just… very in love with you today."
"Oh. Well. T-thank you, Aki. I'm… also very in love with you. But I would say the same amount as usual. I'm very sorry." Toya said, flustered but earnest.
Akito shook his head and tugged Toya down to lay on top of him and wrapped his arms around the taller boy. Toya wrapped his arms around the younger boy in turn and rested his head on his partner's chest.
"I love you so much, man. Like…" Akito absently played with Toya's hair as he talked. Toya could feel Akito talk from where his head was resting on his chest. "You're my life, Toya. At least, a huge part of it. Singing with you, being with you, thinking about you. You're quite literally the love of my life. I don't think I could love someone the same way or same amount that I love you. Like… there's not even a good word for it. I just love you."
Toya was… stunned, to say the least. He paused before speaking.
"Did you just propose to me?"
"…Maybe? I don't really know. Also, it's not like we're going to get married; we're 17."
"I'm 18." Toya corrected.
"Yeah, yeah, same thing." Akito ran his fingers through Toya's hair. Their conversaion went on, turning to chatter to fill the silence, but albeit loving still. As the sun dipped lower into the sky, the boys' conversations would begin to die down and be replaced with yawns and forgotten sentences. They were content with their situation, Akito expressing his feelings bluntly and Toya showing it through affectionate gestures and overall love.
As the moon rose and dusk turned to night, Toya started nodding off on top of Akito, until Akito sneezed and Toya was jerked awake. Akito muttered a sleepy apology, and Toya took the opportunity to get up, change, coax Akito up (despite rebuttals of "i'm comfy though" and "pleeeeaaaseeeee"), get Akito to change, and finally properly get into bed. It was about 8 PM.
"Toya, it's only 8…" Akito said sleepily. "D'ya wanna put on a movie or something?" Akito had trouble going to bed early, as he felt he was "wasting the night". Putting on a movie, in Akito's terms, was using and savoring it.
"Mm… sure. What do you want to put on?" Toya moved to open Akito's laptop from the bedside table.
"Uhh… dunno." Toya looked back to see Akito almost fully asleep, eyes closed and arms loosely wrapped around Toya's waist. Toya softly chuckled.
"Alright, then I'm picking." Toya chose a documentary on whales to put on. He laid on his side to watch it, Akito spooning him from behind. Soon, Toya could hear Akito's soft snores and chuckled to himself, shutting the laptop and turning over to tuck himself against Akito. Despite Toya being taller, Akito was more muscular and fit than Toya. This made it easy for Toya to curl his long legs up and scoot himself right up against Akito, fitting together perfectly. Akito subconsciously wrapped his arms around Toya again, and adjusted his legs so Toya would be more comfortable. Toya buried his face in Akito's shoulder, and Akito just barely woke up.
"Tou?" Akito muttered. "Whatcha… whatcha doing?"
Toya made an unsure noise and closed his eyes. Akito's hand came up to sleepily pet Toya's hair. He fell asleep doing that, Toya following soon after. It was warm, and they were content and together. Throughout the night, the boys shifted, but stayed together nonetheless. By morning, Akito's alarm had gone off to go on a run, and for once in his life, he hit snooze. Still riding that high from yesterday, all Akito wanted to do was cuddle with his dear Toya some more. And, for 9 more minutes, that's what he did, until his dastardly alarm went off again. Shutting it off entirely, Akito rolled over and buried his face into Toya's chest. Toya was deep asleep, and Akito fell back asleep quickly. It was only about 5 AM, so they had time to cuddle.
And cuddle they did.
