Misplaced

Summary:

TMBD DD day eleven: lost and found.

SecUnit might be a little forgetful, but it could swear it had TWO arms before.

Notes:

I don't know if I needed to add this to the general warnings, but there's VERY SLIGHTLY IMPLIED GORE that isn't very at all described about SecUnit left arm.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

My humans had called me forgetful before.

I disagreed with them. I simply didn’t care and deleted the memories necessary to not feel mortified constantly. So now I only felt mortified most of the time.

I hated it, but I kind of had to agree with them now.

“Dr. Gurathin, Dr. Ratthi,” I snapped as I hurried towards them across the corridor. “Where have you been?”

“We’re trying to find a way to turn the higher functioning power on, same as you,” Gurathin replied, quick on his feet, hardly jumping at my sudden and unannounced presence.

“Yes!” Ratthi agreed. “We have no idea what happened, we’ve been looking for– your arm!”

“We’ve been looking for its arm?” Gurathin asked curiously, looking up from where he was holding a flashlight to some electrical box.

“No! It’s arm!” Ratthi exclaimed, pointing at me with both hands at where my left arm had been, now dripping fluids. Ugh. I hated leaking.

Gurathin looks incredulously over his shoulder and almost drops his flashlight. “Who fucked you up?”

I ignored him. “Where’s Mensah?”

Gurathin frowned. “Where’s your arm?

Uh. Yeah. So, in short, the feed had cut out on station due to a massive power outage. The life support was working, but that was just about it. Even the feed felt foggy, and all the humans and augmented humans had been cut out of it. I’d been a bit busy while that was happening, fighting the CombatSecUnit that was responsible for it. Thankfully, ART had helped me, so I hadn’t been killed then and there.

Good news: the CombatSecUnit was no longer an issue.

Bad news: I no longer had a left arm. I had no idea where I had misplaced it. I’m pretty sure me not knowing where it was had something to do with the CombatSecUnit forcing its way into my head.

“I lost it. I’ll find it after we turn the power back on. Where’s Mensah?”

Ratthi just sighed so heavily I thought again about how glad I was we were still being supplied oxygen from life support, and muttered something under his breath about how many intoxicants he planned to have after this.

Notes:
