Summary
Five years ago, Park Sunghoon was compelled to leave the countryside to take responsibility for lavish estates and obligations he was unprepared for following the death of his parents. He left the countryside certain that nothing there could ever change. When he returns, he is proven wrong in the most dangerous way possible.
Kim Sunoo (once the quiet, overlooked younger brother of Sunghoon’s closest companion, Jay) has grown into a poised and captivating young man, admired by society and courted by many. Though Sunoo’s family stands beneath Sunghoon in fortune and influence, it is their familiarity, rather than their status, that makes Sunoo forbidden.
Sunghoon finds himself drawn to Sunoo, yet every glance, every word is shadowed by the unspoken truth: Sunoo is the younger brother of his closest friend. To act on his feelings would be a breach of loyalty and propriety.
To feel anything at all would be a betrayal of loyalty and decorum alike.
Yet affection does not ask for anyone’s permission.
