Poppy wasn't exactly a very... well liked character on the show, they were similar to the infamous Steve Cobs and other objects just made their hatred for Poppy very clear.
They acted like they didn't care, which wasn't half a lie, they weren't letting all the rudeness get to them but some stuff.. was just awful to witness. Seriously nobody had proof they were actually related to this Steve guy they couldn't just hate them for looking similar!
They felt like the only object who didnt hate them - apart from Metag - was Bot, possibly because Bot didn't know about the other corn guy, but they wanted to belive it was because Bot liked them!
One of the first thing they saw was Bot getting hurt and their first instinct was to help them, which already made them think positively about eachother.
Poppy didn't go out of their way to find out how much Bot liked them but they would oftentimes hear them from a distance defending them which felt really nice, if only the others were like that..
Recently, Poppy had ran away, maybe not entirely out of free will, with Metag after Metag's elimination, they weren't sure at first what Metag wanted to show them but they knew it was important.
And get who was first to go check up on them both? Bot.
Obviously what Metag showed was, like said earlier, quite important. But Poppy just couldn't bring themselves to think about it. They couldn't stop thinking about Bot talking to them, they enjoyed their voice it sounded pretty and they enjoyed talking to them about.. anything really.
They tried to push their feelings down, labeling it as strong platonic liking but they knew deep down that they were undeniably in love with Bot, and who wouldn't be?
But they doubted Bot would like them, even if they did they were probably too busy helping their parents host II IV to be able to get into a relationship.
But they could still dream. Poppy would go to Metag, the only person who knew about their crush, and talk about Bot for hours and hours, they weren't sure if Metag was very.. interested but they listened anyways.
Metag encouraged them to just confess already, which Poppy decided to NOT do. They were gonna take it slow!.. Probably.
They proposed Bot to go on a picnic with them, which they agreed to and made Poppy happy. They prepared a few sandwiches and a typical checkered blanket that you see at every typical picnic, then they waited for Bot to arrive. They didn't take long but apologized anyways.
"Hi! Sorry I hope I'm not late I was busy."
"No, no, it's fine you're on time actually."
Bot checked their phone to see to their surprise that they were indeed on time, they had excepted to be late from how busy they were but still managed to arrive when they were supposed to.
Poppy and Bot went on with a nice chat, that picnic actually kinda felt like a date... But it was totally platonic! Their hands started brushing against eachother, making Poppy twitch a little everytime before descending to directly holding hands, which felt nice.
Bot, despite being a robot, had surprisingly soft hands, the coldness was also a nice bonus Poppy enjoyed. But they had to keep convincing themselves that it was platonic, Bot didn't have a crush on them, that would be crazy!
Poppy blinked and suddenly realized that they were holding hands and slowly pulled away, they didn't want to seem weird.
As time passed, it started getting darker and colder outside, making their hangout come to an end.
"We should walk back together to the city."
Poppy proposed, standing up and dusting themselves off and waiting for Bot.
"Alright."
Bot got up and followed them, the walk back was just as peaceful as the picnic. Bot talked about iii and how they found out they were non binary. Poppy listened, they weren't sure how they found out they were non binary, they didnt transition or anything, they were just.. born like that? Yeah that's probably possible.
