Xuanyu loved hanging out with Wen Ning, he really did. It was just… they found themselves in this position far too often. As they both stared down at their plates, on which were not the things they ordered, they let out a sigh. Wen Ning glanced up and gave him a soft smile which Xuanyu could not help but return with a soft smile of his own.
They were going to let it be. It wasn’t a big deal, just some sauce that was supposed to be on the side. Some tomatoes that they hadn’t wanted to pick out. It was fine. Most people would think Xuanyu would be the type to send an order back and, he would, just… not for himself. He’d do it for Wen Ning but then A-Ning would feel bad for making the kitchen staff do more work. So they ate around the sauce, picked out the tomatoes. Paid the bill and left a big tip because they both knew first hand that pay in the service industry was ass.
Xuanyu loved hanging out with Wen Ning, he really did. It was just… they found themselves in this position far too often. As they both helped the granny walk across the road, cars honked at them and drivers yelled at them to go faster. Wen Ning glanced over and gave him a pleading smile, which Xuanyu could not help but grimace at.
They’d both had enough of people yelling at them to last a lifetime. If Xuanyu had been on his own, he might have risked getting his ass kicked, as it were, there was no way he was going to risk Wen Ning getting hurt. So, they helped the granny cross the road. She thanked them. They went on their way.
Xuanyu loved hanging out with Wen Ning, he really did. It was just… they found themselves in this position far too often. Wei Ying had roped them into pranking his partners on movie night. Now, Xuanyu and Wen Ning were crouched behind the couch, probably experiencing the last few moments of their lives. Wen Ning glanced over and gave him a worried smile, Xuanyu tried for a reassuring one but knew he failed. He just hoped Wen Ning wouldn’t be taken out of this world by his own sister.
When the door opened, both of them froze. They were supposed to grab Wei Ying when he walked by the couch. Except, Where is Wei Ying? Wen Ning asked him with a look. They could only hear two sets of footsteps – counting footsteps is a skill you acquire when you have shitty cousins - among the two voices, there was no sign of Wei Ying. Did he set us up? Xuanyu asked with a look of his own. Wen Ning went completely pale.
As the footsteps grew closer, Xuanyu ushered Wen Ning to go to the other side of the couch quickly, before they could see them. Otherwise, they would really die. Jiang Cheng was the worst person to scare because he immediately started punching. Lan Zhan was bad too, he would initially freeze, but then quickly spring into action to subdue. And Wen Qing… he was just grateful there was no sign of her.
Unfortunately, they were discovered. What the fuck?! Jiang Cheng screeched out when he saw them in their masks. Xuanyu popped up, grabbed Wen Ning's arms and broke out into a sprint for the patio door. They had almost made it when Xuanyu felt Wen Ning’s arm slip from his grasp. He looked back to see Lan Wangji holding Wen Ning by the arm. Wai– before Xuanyu could get his words out, Wei Ying and Wen Qing burst in the door. Wait! Guys, I forgot I was supposed to be pranking you three today! It’s okay, it's just A-Ning and A-Yu.
If anyone asked, Xuanyu would deny dropping to the floor crying in relief.
Xuanyu loved hanging out with Wen Ning, he really did. It was just… they found themselves in this position far too often. Xuanyu was on his fifth drink of the night, three of which he had taken in order to get Wei Ying to leave Wen Ning alone. Wen Ning shot him an apologetic smile, Xuanyu smiled back while shaking his head.
It wasn’t really a big deal when he was single. But now, his boyfriend associates going out with Wen Ning with getting wasted. Mingjue’s first question was no longer: Will you need a ride home? But had become: Will Wen Ning be there? As he stumbled into their house drunk off his ass, all he could do was laugh at Mingjue’s disapproving tuts from behind him.
Xuanyu loved hanging out with Wen Ning, he really did. It was just… they found themselves in this position far too often. Laughing would only make this situation worse and yet, the judgment radiating from Wen Ning’s eyes directed at the bickering couple is threatening to push Xuanyu over the edge. Wen Ning shoots him the look and Xuanyu has to bite his cheek, so hard he draws blood.
Wen Ning’s averted gaze and pointed sip of his chai was as good as an eyeroll and a scoff. Xuanyu could feel his eyes tearing up. He needed them to take this outside, he couldn’t hold it in any longer. It was Wen Ning’s irritated sigh that got him. He choked on his matcha and fell out of his chair.
When asked, Wen Ning would deny any behavior of the sort.
Xuanyu loved hanging out with Wen Ning, he really did. It was just… they found themselves in this position far too often. Wen Ning was supposed to be his model for a new makeup look Xuanyu was doing live. And yet, here they were, laughing their asses off, Xuanyu’s highlighter brush now unusable, on the floor.
A-Ning, you’re telling me, you’re really choosing the rake? Over Hua Cheng?
I’d be more comfortable with Pei Ming than the s-stalker.
A-Ning, he saved him and gave him a reason to live!
I know b-but: We’ve only spoken like twice but now you’ve dedicated your entire life to me, have created thousands of statues of m-me, inserted yourself into my life secretly, and will kill yourself if I ever die. Is kind of...
At least his subscribers still enjoyed the lives.
Xuanyu loves hanging out with Wen Ning, he really does. Even though they find themselves in this position far too often.
It’s really fine, I’ll pay.
N-no I should get it!
It’s not even my money, it’s Mingjue’s.
That’s even m-more reason I s-should pay!
No, I’m paying!
B-But…
