“Feel better, baby?” He asks, and his voice sounds too tight. Tries to slip his hand out from under the sweater before she pouts and grabs at it, pressing it back down against her skin.
“No.” It’s growled out, and if he wasn’t in the middle of trying to not lose his mind, he might actually laugh. “It hurts… lower.” The bite in her words was gone, slipping back into the sadness and the humor he found in her answer dies in his throat.
