Chapter Text
Mavuika and Xilonen have been together for a good while now. Specifically, for about five or six months. They've gone on a few dates, spent the night together, and have enjoyed each other’s company whenever Mavuika spent her 3 to five hours with Xilonen, and the latter enjoyed it all considering just how much the red head liked to keep busy.
One day, Mavuika decided on a whim that she wanted to do something special. She wanted them both to do something special. She hopped on her bike and headed to Xilonen’s place to share her latest collaborative idea.
“Xilonen!!! It’s Mavuika!” She called out in her usual happy tone, but with Xilonen, now it has even more tenderness in it.
She heard some rustling and clanking inside before the door opened. Mavuika’s face lit up when she saw her blondie greet her at the door.
“Hey~ if you’re wanting to come in uh..I might have to guide you through the mess.” Xilonen looked behind her, her ears pinning flat to her head for a second. “Been pretty busy all night working through my last commission.”
Mavuika looked past her. “I can tell..” she looked down at Xilonen, she looked so sleepy. She cupped her face in her hands, mostly to see the slight eyebags under her eyes.
Xilonen was slightly out of it, so she didn’t react much to her face being held. “Let me *yawn* take you in..” The feline woman took the archon's hand, and led her into her home and through the mess.
Mavuika looked around at the piles of scrap and used phlogiston crystals. They were all haphazardly stacked near the wall, and the papers of sketches laid on the floor in clusters. It could all be a visual interpretation of Xilonen’s mind, and how disorganized it can be even after work was done. Mavuika wondered just how often she bothered to tidy up. She was used to the mess, but that didn’t mean the mess didn’t cause her to fight back a cringe each time.
Xilonen sat her down. “I’ll talk to you in a minute, just…..lemme……….clean…” Her speech grew labored and sleepy. Her legs felt really heavy, and she looked like a tree that was about to topple over.
Luckily, Mavuika was there to catch her. She held her steady in place. “Let me clean up ok? You rest your eyes while I do.” She set her down on the couch.
“Yeah ok, I like that idea heh. Go~ ahead.” Xilonen mumbled, slumping against the back of the couch
Mavuika purposefully took her time cleaning, just so Xilonen could get a good nap in. She put things away neatly and organized nearly everything down to specific size, color, and category. She even reorganized her work space. Though that was less to make nap time longer for Xilonen, and more because the space was bugging her. In fact, the mess had bothered her as a whole. Now things felt more orderly and it put her brain in order. She knew her girlfriend worked in organized chaos, but since Mavuika was cleaning up, she’ll clean up thoroughly.
She walked over to Xilonen, who had her whole body in a fetal position, her tail wrapped around her body, lazily draped over her ankles.
Mavuika smiled warmly at the adorable sight. Five shades she was going to feel so guilty for waking her, but her idea from earlier couldn’t wait any longer. She squatted and shook the blacksmith gently.
Xilonen grumbled and her ears twitched.
“Xilonen..wake up~” Mavuika nudged her again. She watched as Xilonen’s eyes furrowed briefly, then she sat up slowly and yawned. “Wha?”
“I finished!!” Mavuika smiled proudly. She nudges her head towards the newly cleaned area.
Xilonen looked around and smiled. “Ah, thank you.. sorting through all that mess myself is really tiring.” Mavuika’s efforts awarded her a lazy but loving kiss on the cheek. Mavuika’s cheeks heated up at the contact.
“You’re lucky I like organizing.”
“Ironic.”
“Nah, I don’t think it is.”
“Mh..what brings you to my place anyway? I would’ve asked you sooner, but uh you know..” Xilonen have a huff of a chuckle.
Mavuika smiled sweetly. “Weeeelll~” she took both of Xilonen’s hands. “I have a proposal.”
Xilonen’s eyes shot open and her heart skipped a beat. If she wasn’t awake before she definitely is now.
Mavuika chuckled. “Not that kind…glad you’re fully awake now~”
Xilonen narrowed her eyes. “You said it like that to wake me up more?”
“Not per sey. But I do have a proposal. I want us to collaborate on something again..been a while since we collectively took part in making something.” Mavuika’s tone softened.
Xilonen raised a brow. “Okay.” Her voice had a similar tone. “If it’s anything like the flamestrider hun, I think I’ll sit it out.”
“Hehe nooo it’s not. It’s something more…personal to us. Something we both can benefit from. Something more special.” Mavuika spoke with her usual confidence, but her blushing betrayed her bashfulness.
“Like…what?” Xilonen’s tone was quiet, curious. She inexplicably leaned in a little, as if she wanted to make sure she heard whatever came out of her lips carefully. Almost like she was ready to make whatever thing she wanted her to make this time.
Mavuika was so brave, yet her heart ran like a prey animal’s in danger. Still she took a small inhale through the nose. “I would like for us to make a voice recording of sweet affirmations! I have some records I found, adding the voices to them should be easy.. I’ve never done it before, but I know with you we can pull it off.”
Almost as if Xilonen could hear and sense the racing of the archon’s heart, she placed her hand over it gently. “Sure!”
Mavuika’s smile grew more. “Really?”
“Yeah it’s tooth-rottingly sweet, but I just ate chocolate with my breakfast so, I guess I have an immunity for that~”
“Really?, lemme see”
“I don’t—!!!”
Xilonen’s eyes shot open in surprise when Mavuika pressed her lips against hers. Almost on instinct, Xilonen opened her mouth slightly to allow for a bit of tongue.
“Mmmm~~~” Mavuika hummed happily before pulling away. “Yup you did~”
Xilonen blinked a few times, cheeks burning. “You didn’t wanna take my word for it?”
“Mm I could've, but I wouldn’t have gotten to see your flustered face~” Mavuika leaned in , almost pressing her forehead against the other’s.
Xilonen blushed even more. “Alright alright.”
Mavuika kissed her girlfriend’s nose, causing the other to scoff a single chuckle.
“So! Shall we get started?” Mavuika asked with respectable enthusiasm.
Xilonen nodded.
Mavuika led them to the supplies, and they swiftly got to work. Mavuika informs her that what they are going to say should be a surprise to them both, and that it’s best if they record what they’re going to say to each other alone. They spent roughly a week together on the device, making sure sound could be well transmitted onto the recording devices. They made some sounds into it, and sure enough it worked!
Xilonen kept one and Mavuika kept the other, then hours passed before they recorded their messages . Not because they didn’t know what to say to each other, but because they had matters to attend to that day, and didn’t wish to be interrupted when making their recordings. They were quite excited about this, the promise of kind words and truth on their tongues that perhaps carried more weight than usual.
