11:55 pm. 5 minutes until the new year. An sat up on the stage, glancing at Kohane who rested her head against her shoulder.
They were at WEEKEND GARAGE with Toya and Akito - who were at the counter - as Ken allowed them to stay after closing hours to spend the New Year's Eve here.
An could feel a smile creep on her face. She was about to spend the new year with her best friends, her father... and her girlfriend.
Of a month. But girlfriend still. This year sure was...something. They went to America, surpassed Rad Weekend... she found the cutest partner ever. Oh and, two other guys but hey, that's different.
11:56.
An stared at the time before wrapping an arm around Kohane's shoulders. "Ne, I heard people have fireworks for when it strikes midnight. Wanna come outside with me ?"
Kohane smiled, already standing up with An, "Sure. That sounds good."
I'll finally be out of view of those three. An internally thought. She didn't mind the fact that the others were there of course, but she wanted to spend time with just Kohane for a bit.
They stepped outside by the backdoor, with An carefully closing the door behind them before gently taking Kohane's hand in her own.
11:58.
"Thanks. I uh- thought you'd enjoy fireworks." An mumbled out, feeling her girlfriend squeezing her hand.
"You're right. I do enjoy them."
"Mm. Good."
An fidgeted with her free hand, taking a small breathe in, the cold air filling her lungs, before she breathed out, facing Kohane fully.
11:59.
"An-chan...?" Kohane breathed out, looking up at An and clutching her sleeve. She looked like a cute hamster.
"I uh...wanted to thank you. For this year. It was...the best I ever had thanks to you."
Kohane's eyes widened ever so slightly before they softened, a small smile on her lips. "...Same. I had a beautiful year by your side."
An nodded ever so slightly. Fuck. Don't chicken out.
Her hand gently cupped Kohane's cheeks, 3 seconds before midnight.
Kohane leaned into the touch, 2 seconds before midnight.
An hesitated for a bit before pulling her girlfriend closer, a second before midnight.
And, just as the fireworks exploded in the sky right behind them, she locked their lips together. Clumsily at first, before Kohane returned it, her hand resting on An's shoulder as she kissed her back.
The taller girl let out a small, contented sigh, wrapping an arm around Kohane to pull her even closer, tilting her head ever so slightly, their lips parting before meeting again.
"Happy New Year.." An whispered as they finally broke the kiss, leaning her forehead against Kohane.
"Happy New Year, An-chan."
...
"Love you."
An smiled.
"I love you too."
