Work Text:

A nice, cool day. Then again, all days were like that when you lived in the Great Sea, Phantom supposed.

"Big Brother, Big Brother!" Aryll called, causing him to smile and run over from where he was in the house.

"What is it?" He asked, watching her curiously.

"It's a shell!" She exclaimed, showing the shell in question to him. "Isn't it pretty?"

"It is," Phantom agreed. It was nothing special, of course— it'd be easy to find a shell like that almost anywhere in the Great Sea— but it was still lovely, in his opinion.

"Do you want to play in the water?" Aryll asked. "Grandma said I could if you would too."

Without even thinking about it, Phantom nodded. "Sure, I'll go play in the water."

Aryll smiled, and then proceeded to drag Phantom out of the house. He pretended to be annoyed, but really, it was quite endearing to him. He always liked spending time with Aryll, anyway.

When they got to the water, Phantom took off his boots, and Aryll her sandals.

"Don't go too far into the water," Phantom instructed, "alright?"

Aryll nodded. "I won't, don't worry!"

"Good."

With that, the two began playing. It was simple, really: they'd splash each other with water, and try to avoid having the same done to them. Simple, but fun.

"I got you, Big Brother!" Aryll exclaimed, splashing water onto Phantom, who just laughed.

"It seems that you do," he replied. "Now, come on. It's getting late, and I think Grandma's making soup again today."

Aryll's eyes practically lit up as she walked out of the water and put her sandals on. "Really? Race you there, then!"

"Hey! Wait on me!" Phantom called, even though he was smiling. He wasn't sure that he could ever do without Aryll's antics, and maybe that was fine.

"Oh," Aryll began, "and I'll give you the shell I showed you earlier if you win!"

"You're on!"
