Five years later, 1994.
Nancy Wheeler's internship went well, and she's built up a resume over the years to land her a job as a Journalist in New York City. But when walking around the city, working overtime looking for clues on her very first homicide case, she just so happens to run into Robin Buckley, a camera slung around her neck. She has a new path as a Private Investigator, and when Robin tells Nancy about her client, it seems their cases overlap.
When Nancy and Robin have to work together to solve the case, Nancy is forced to face her quickly unraveling feelings of trauma from the life she left behind in Hawkins, a traumatizing event from a few years prior, as well as the long-repressed feelings bubbling up at the sight of Robin Buckley-- all while descending into madness over a case that is bigger than her or Robin could ever imagine.
