Work Text:

He leant against the door frame arms crossed watching his sister play the piano, Stiles would have elbowed him in the ribs for not standing up straight before giving him that secret smile of hers.

He'd begun to receive courting overtures for Cora, even if some idiots did still consider the family was in disgrace.  Those overtures making him laugh the most, as he sent them up in smoke.

There were also the families that he wouldn’t touch with someone else's wand, those that didn't know about their family magic and didn't want to learn.  There was no higher insult in his eyes, Lady magic had granted their spark and the magic that came with it.  Insulting The Lady’s gift would bring the wraith of Zinatra down on all their heads.

For all the offers he had been receiving, in the end it would be Cora’s choice, Hale’s did not betroth their daughters or sons without their consent.  And as far as he was concerned, that was one of the bases actions any parent or guardian could commit against a child.

He suspected he knew where Cora might have set her cap, this is what happened when you took family members out into the wide world with you.

While the Fitzwalter’s were completely mundane these days, there had been a time when they had been part of the magical world.  Though the last time there had been a magical Fitzwalter had been more than a hundred years ago.

That the family had let their non-magical children carry the title had even been a bigger scandal, at the time, than Talia had ever been.

Given their past convincing them of their son’s potential future might not be as difficult as it could be.  Though, he suspected that Cora would follow her heart and leave the wizarding world if they couldn't.

Not that it was going to come to that if he could help it.
